Very happy to see a large-scale, USA-based bitcoin mining operation. I think the opportunity is there since China is trying hard to regulate bitcoin and bitcoin mining. I don't have a twitter or facebook, could someone share what type of miners they will be using? I am half curious and half interested in possibly investing if cloud mining is offered.

For a project like this, I believe this awareness should be done in a time close to launching or when there are serious works going on the site with verifiable evidence to the community. The reason for that is several projects is being listed on the forum on a daily basis and if you are not ready to keep up with the questions that needs to be answered the thread will be long gone in a short while or we just avoid it all together since the full capacity is until 2018. I will have to wait till next month to see the door opened.

All the best for your venture into the bitcoin mining business and to be the biggest in the world.
I remember when the US was the first to have the largest supercomputer facility (and I think it still is on a university campus) in the world and you would think it would be quite possible to be able to have the largest mining facility with the former accomplished already.

We're not asking for anything but community support at this point but I would like to leverage the community as a whole for advice, ideas, or anything else that can help drive this home.

Don't underestimate the difficulty, it will eat you alive. I had my own operation a couple of years ago... chasing difficulty, tracking power, cooling, and fluctuating bitcoin price is a constant battle. My advice would be to figure out how to get off the grid, event partially. Try to leverage passive cooling, the more power you use towards cooling, the worse it is for your bottom line. Monitor your infrastructure 24/7, setup automation so that if a miner goes offline at 2am, either someone is notified or you can cycle power on it.

Curious as to why you went with avalon versus bitmain though... ?

A 150,000 Sq Ft bitcoin mining operation! This is going to be one kick ass facility, best of luck to you.
So what's your preference, will you be showing support for SegWit, Unlimited?
Careful.  Do not take a side or you will be totally slammed by the other side.  I should know.  I joked about taking a side and was slammed for it.  Both sides have very passionate trolls.

The idea of jokes, Burt, is that they can be discerned as such. If saying that Franky and jbreher are honest actors is a joke, then trying BU should be a joke too. Strange how you kept the logic consistent, isn't it?

"Franky1 is credible" changes to "only joking!"

"BU is credible" apparently isn't a joke to you

Lol, yes i did think of that before posting but the question is worth the risk.
Actually my question is very mutual, it simply asks what scaling solution they prefer, no follow up questions.

I guess the fact that i work for bitcoin.com and am asking this question could cause some to speculate that i have a particular reason for asking but i am really just interested to know for myself.

We're almost there everyone.

Next month we open the doors to our 150,000 Sq Ft. Facility to be built out in stages until we are at capacity in 2018!
Visit http://www.bitchain.us for more info and let us know what you think.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Please keep us informed!  There are probably a number of folks here who might like to take a stake in such a venture.

But, typical "Venture Capital Rules" would likely be necessary to successfully recruit capital.  LOTS of proof of building, electricity costs, a proper Business Plan, copies of orders of mining equipment, CVs of key people, etc.

Done right, you might get a LOT of support.

As others above mentioned, best of luck on your venture, and keep us informed.

Sorry for doubting this, but you website so far offers very little information and no real proof that you are building anything.
Plus, having big donation button on your site, when you try to appear as big investment project is rather questionable IMO.
People would probably not donate anything, and you would look more like a beggar than serious business initiative.

When you share some more info in the future, I will reevaluate my opinion. Anyway, good luck with your project.

Doubt away my friend...I'm keeping my head up and staying focused in order to follow this through.
Keep up on our Twitter feed @bitchainLLC
There are pictures posted of the facility as it sat a week ago....we are still not up and operational quite yet but getting closer each day.
Now we are talking, that twitter feed is something more interesting than your website. I am sorry if my previous comment sounded a little harsh.
You probably are aware of number of cloud mining scams we encounter as a community. Every time new *amazing* virtual mining facility is popping out I am a bit worried.
Please keep us updated about progress of your operation, these photos looked really promising!

In order to make money you will need a line on very cheap electricity.  Do you have that?  What is your cost per kWh?

It's a long story but the short answer is yes.
We are not quite as cheap as Grant County, WA but pretty close and also have a 50MW Substation right behind the facility Wink

Hi Jacques, can you share more information about your mining capacity. How many hashrate will have your company on start? The location will be public?

We are hoping to be at around 7PH/s within a couple of weeks after this final inspection as long as Canaan can deliver 1000 Avalons for our first phase.
Exciting stuff is unfolding every day....Just a few more days to go!
