StealthCoin

If you need that one, I think I know who owns it, because as far as I remember I suggested it to him in April 2013.

My humorous ideas are:

Code:
007gold
anarchoin
autonomoney
cashown
coinpute
coinwetrust
ellodium
fu8all
fucash
goverup
kingkoing
koindly
rallodial
telegold

I own autonomoney and it is available for any reasonable offer.

FutureCoin
NewCoin

Every altcoin claims to be new and the future.

We need a name that conveys our design strengths.

Our objective is to be impervious to meddling from government and powerful entities. Our altcoin design aims to make reliable anonymous mining and transactions available to everyone with a personal computer without employing proxies and coin mixers, which frankly are not reliable as we explain in our whitepaper. We suspect the national security agencies are compiling lists of violators and tainted coins now giving a long leash for Bitcoin users to incriminate themselves before the data is turned over the tax and law enforcement when it is time to destroy Bitcoin.

quantcoin is good

If others post +1, we will register it and add it to the poll. Or feel free to register it, and offer it at a reasonable price in this altcoin's coins and we will add it to the poll.

The following are the best available in .org but not .com.

atomicoin

Other than undercoin which we have just registered and will add to the poll, are any of those shorter and better than silicoin?

We did not register atomicoin because it is only available in .org, it is not shorter than silicoin, and we did not have time to research if the owners of the .com and .net already have an altcoin use planned.

For undercoin, I am thinking "under the radar" and "underground economy".

YASC - yet another scam coin

We encourage you to successfully promote that viewpoint so we might mine more for ourselves. We are confident our design stands above Litecoin and the rest.

Bit2 (BT2)

Naming feedback is appreciated because it stimulates discussion, brainstorming, and awareness of varying viewpoints.

This domain name is not available. We want the masses to find our mining client easily.

There is a clever domain name available which contains "bitcoin". How does it help us to cause new users who want our altcoin searching for "bitcoin" to arrive at the wrong website or download the wrong client thus supporting our competitor?

We need a name that we can build as a brand, that will gain its own respect, following, and popularity. Yahoo was first, but Google is better due the PageRank algorithm. We believe our algorithms are superior.

Perhaps the title of this thread is misleading if the reader doesn't emphasize "altcoin". This is not intended to be the second official version of Bitcoin. Instead an altcoin that implements features and algorithms which the Bitcoin developers have not.

PSYcoin

Are you thinking psyops? Psychotic coin? Or is this the Korean singer sensation PSY?

We need a name that the masses will understand means decentralized money free from government interference. This is why I voted for cyborgold despite my personal affinity for silicoin.

We probably prefer a name that is distinguished from the endless sea of altcoins with "coin" in the name, however silicoin and bionicoin are clever enough portmanteaus to perhaps make them standout from the crowd.

One Question, Why PoW?

thanks

Numerous reasons which we are not extensively enumerating today.

Proof-of-stake and proof-of-burn can't distribute new coins to the masses through mining. We also do not believe they are secure.

We don't believe any existing coin that is not proof-of-stake or proof-of-burn is ASIC nor GPU resistant.

Our holistic design is a belief that ubiquitous mining is necessary for holistic integration of real anonymity. We do not believe Tor, VPNs, and coin mixers are anonymous against national security agencies which we believe will cooperate with tax and law enforcement authorities to bring Bitcoin to its knees. Remember that legal tender is not taxed with capital gains and VAT. Coin taint may be the most serious flaw in Bitcoin.

We believe ASIC dominated mining and large pools are a 51% attack threat against Bitcoin.

There is so much misinformation and misunderstanding. And we are not prepared to debunk the orthodox views today. We understand that such statements could inflame many arguments. So we prefer not to delve in that direction today.

We would appreciate some help on the name.

Bettercoin
Republic Credits
Bytecoin
DigiDollars

What does Bettercoin convey pertaining to the meaning, purpose, and advantage of decentralized currency?

Bytecoin is already taken. Dollar is an exclusive of the United States that is viciously defended. Exhibit the raid and confiscation of the Liberty Dollar.

Feedback from those voting "none of the above" would be helpful, because there is no way to disguish whether these are Bitcoin or xeroxcoin fanboys or sincere dislike of the proposed name choices.

In the broad scheme of the mass market, n00bs don't rationalize the technical details. The mass market needs simplified conceptual analogies.

None of the names including bitcoin, intuitively explain decentralized currency to the average person.

What is a bitcoin? Huh why would I want just a little bit or bite of a coin?

What is cyborgold? At least the latter relates to two concepts average people understand cyborg or cyber plus gold such as cyberspace and cybersex. Gold implies the antithesis of fiat.

Quote
cyber-
a combining form meaning “computer,” “computer network,” or “virtual reality,” used in the formation of compound words ( cybertalk; cyberart; cyberspace  ) and by extension meaning “very modern” ( cyberfashion  ).

Silicon plus coin is short, clever, unique, and appeals to some of us technophiles and important early adopters, although may not be as comprehensible to the masses. Huh why would I want a coin made of silicone rubber?

One question. 0% fee forever = potential spam?

Thank you for the polite inquiry.

This is not the case in this holistic design detailed in the whitepapers. We believe 0% fees also fixes some potential problems with Bitcoin. I've urged in the OP that we not debate the merits in this thread, because we are not revealing the technical details today. First we want to make sure we can reach consensus on a name.

Funding for community development

Is this the new way of disguising a pre-mine?

The community development will be paid with the coin. This is will be approximately 1% of all coin that will be mined in the first decade. We the initial developers will not receive conspicuous or onymous coin for our efforts and capital investment, instead we prefer to anonymously mine the coin. We the initial developers may compete for some of the community development work, however our preference is for as many people in the community as possible to be involved and rewarded. Inclusiveness maximizes adoption and promotion.

Please withhold further inquiries and clarifications on the design and policy decisions. All further posts in this thread must strictly be on the name. Please do not take it personally.
