The volatility was fun while it lasted.  I managed to sell into the hacked rally and get someone to pay almost $7 for bitcoins.  The move back below $5 was pretty obvious.  No positive news, no new products, not even new media hype.  There was no reason to pay more for bitcoins, therefore we're back below $5 again.  I don't expect the price to move higher a week from now.

But if anyone is feeling generous with other people's money, I have staggered Asks all the way up to $9  Wink

http://mtgoxlive.com/orders lol bitcoins at $4.79; suckers i said to sell at $6; what did i say xD
People saying oh its spiked up it isn't going down; well its crashed down down down...
At least i was smart.  Grin

I have a personal suspicion that it is going to crash down low again soon.  It's been stagnating while dwindling for over 60 hours so it is sure to happen.  All these people who bought it at 4.90 see it going lower and lower.  Pretty soon someone will realize it's not going back up till next year or later and will dump it knowing they can buy back cheaper.  Then the buywalls will drop and everyone will sell their coins.  It'll drop below $4.

Back down again to $6.  30-0.  Your serve.

Hoping the price spikes to $7 again as my bitcoins are almost at MtGox.  Come on....

The guy(s) who hacked the forum probably cleaned out the mtgox accounts of the idiots who still use the same password on multiple sites.

What just happened?! BTC jumped from 5.x to 7.x and return. Now is trading at 5.x but by cents, there're no ask walls, you would need to go up to over 8 to see the first 1k+ ask.

Someone bought a huge amount of btc, big enough for prices to go up to 7$. Then, it fell down because the orders weren't moved up to this same level.

Right now someone put a buy wall at 7$, so it may stay there for a little while.

edit: and by the time I posted this, the order got removed. hm.

Back to $7.  Ok, 30% swings within a few minutes are a joke.  Bitcoin really shouldn't be used for anything serious with markets like this.  Merchants must be craving this kind of price volatility.

Dammit.  $6.02 and dropping.  Missed it.  Bitcoin is so damn slow for transferring money.  Whoever the idiot was that bumped the price up to $7 didn't stick around long enough.

Awesome news.  Someone just put a massive order in and bumped the price up to $7.  Trying to get all my bitcoins into MtGox before it falls below $5 again.

The OP is hilarious: "Bitcoin is below 7 now. OMG it's the end of the world! If you want to dump your coins, give them to me, I could use them I GUESS [Really? You could use them? You mean like to sell them for well over $6 a piece? Wow, I never thought of that]. Oh, now bitcoin has been falling for the last few minutes, so you better sell now, won't ever get a better price. Because the trend of the last few minutes pretty much determines the trend forever. Oh...people are noticing how absurd my posts are, so let me backtrack a bit: When I suggested that you just give me your coins, I wasn't completely insisting on it, so that shows that my suggestion wasn't just a thinly disguised attempt to beg for coins [Yeah, right]. I just thought that since the price has gone below 7 you might want to randomly dump your coins somewhere [why on earth would anyone do that?], and if so, I'm just sayin I could use those coins I guess. Also, let me clarify that the price of bitcoins could go up or down from here, no one knows, myself included [Really? Thanks for the insight. But wait...if you admit that you have no idea where price is going from here, why did you start this thread in the first place?]."

If the drug industry can get into this; only like 10% the price would be like $50 or so.

That sounds like a stable idea for a currency, hinge things on the drug industry being the savior.  Ask those northern Mexican border towns how that's working out for them. Smiley
