It’s good news and we are looking forward to seeing more of these happening like everyday. When I saw the news I was quite surprised because I didn’t expect universities to even adopt Bitcoin as a payment method, it’s really one of the coolest thing. I am guessing these universities are private universities and none of them are  government owned institutions right?

Because, it’s only private owned that will be able to do this, government owned institution wouldn’t be accepting Bitcoin. With that said, I am happy with the progress that we have been seeing.

What more do we need? It is left for governments of several countries to lower their pride and decentralize their economies; by leveraging on the growing of the digital freedom. Bitcoin isn't just a coin, it is an economy to reckon on.
First of all, i want to enlighten you guys that alot of Universities in the US and UK have been accepting Bitcoin for tuition payment before now and even before Paypal integration of cryptocurrency but i guess most people are not aware of it.
Josefjix, i have said before that the government are the only setting hindering crypto adoption but with the SEC CEO statement i expect some government to lower their pride
How should the integration of SEC and CEO  be done to overlap the contraindications of the government policies when they are hellbent on making Crypto extinct when it hasn't fully reached its potential users? I understand there are universities accepting Bitcoin as tuition for a very long time now. It is a reputable development and worth celebrating anytime the news of such things comes up.
There's a typo in my previous messages. But you can integrate SEC when it come to an investment cause they have the right to melt into every affairs that have to do with investors protection, fairness in the market etc. Mind you, the SEC wont have be involved in cryptocurrency if there is no overlapping of scam activities by cryptocurrency scammers in the uear 2017 and the last time i checked the SEC work independently though they federal agency but they never for once operate over their roles.
They seems not to be against crypto and the statement made by US SEC CEO are message that could help the surge in price of the market.
With that been said, it not every government or policy that is against crypto.

This is good especially for those student who are earning BTC, by that they can pay their own tuition without even asking for their parents.

Besides that, this is also a good adoption for those schools or universities to engage and explore about the importance and value of bitcoin in the economy and businesses.

Those who work to earn bitcoin can make themselves study with the course and in the university that they want if all of the universities or institutions already accept bitcoin. But we need to wait for more years for them to fully understand, adopt, and engage with bitcoin. Things can't be rushed and I know that as we are engaging more in digital age, bitcoin will become more popular globally.

This is really interesting and a good start as well, and will of course gradually compel others to take the same path, and before one can know it, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as blockchain will be studied in more universities. Going down memory lane, it is clear that every good Innovation only needs time to achieve the intended goal, this is the case with Bitcoin. When Bitcoin was created, it was called many names but today, the price is valuable, big cooperations are adopting it and now universities are accepting it as a means of payment, this to a great extent has added more value and Integrity to the crypto space.
Furthermore, accepting Bitcoin is more like getting ready for the future and what it offers, because from all ramifications, it will only keep getting better and more interesting.

some universities that accept bitcoin or adopt bitcoin as a means of payment for their students are certainly the best choice to prove that bitcoin is a payment technology that has a good future.  It also depends on the country where the university is located.  several other states have unclear regulations on bitcoin.  Universities that adopt bitcoin payments certainly add subjects on bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as additional subjects.  In my country this kind of adoption is still very far away, regulation is limited to commodity trading and nothing more.  The longer the adoption of bitcoin will be more widespread and not only as a speculative asset but a revolutionary payment option.

The university's movements to accept bitcoin for tuition payment is a great step in the education world. If that can integrate without any problem, the other universities will follow this step. We need more universities to accept bitcoin to be used for education or in schools and universities. We know that the young generation is now aware of the new technology. Maybe sooner or later, we will see that the university has a lesson about crypto to attract more young people to studied more about crypto. The popularity of bitcoin to young people will also increase because they will learn how to use bitcoin before using bitcoin to pay their tuition.

Its really great that step by step the world was now adopting bitcoin. For now even though its is only some universities that accepted bitcoin as a tuition payment hoping that sooner other universities will consider this alos.  It may took a lot more years for us to wait that the world may accept cryptocurrency or bitcoin as a whole, and a mode of payment and transactions and even became one of the worlds currency but knowing that there has some steps like this surely give a good sign to the huge potential ahead.
Yes, the world is now aware of bitcoin, which attracts more people to join the bitcoin world. It needs more effort to invite more universities to accept bitcoin as tuition payment, but I am sure that will happen because bitcoin can be a solution for people who want to pay for their study with bitcoin.

No matter if it needs more years, the world will be ready to accept cryptocurrency, and it is still under process right now. Bitcoin itself is trying to reach more, not just in the business, economy, but now that bitcoin is trying to enter the education field. We still need to introduce bitcoin and altcoin to many people out there, so they will know that they now have more options for the payment system, and it is not just for that reason, but it could be a new investment for them.

I think it's great for more institutions to accept Bitcoin and I see this as a huge plus for the adoption.

However, it's important to note that it's just akin to having more payment methods. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about it. Having more payment methods is beneficial to the adoption but it isn't synonymous as people seeing it as a store of value. The volatility of Bitcoin is way too much for most to shoulder especially when it's so hard to use Bitcoin. Until Bitcoin becomes less volatile, the adoption rate won't be high at all. It's definitely good publicity to be one of the few to accept crypto though (something something about innovation within the university)?

Perhaps there’s not that much of a big deal in the acceptance itself, which may not apply to all courses and grades (at least the University of Cumbria stated that they were running this as an experiment on a set of two courses – see https://99bitcoins.com/university-cumbria-uk-bitcoin/), as to the awareness that it could creates amongst university students, teachers and collaborators.

Nevertheless, I’ve tried to take a look into a couple of them, to see it the payment method is still accepted, global or delimited in scope, and the placement of this information on their information sites, but have come out empty handed …
Just checked and they state following:
Quote
Despite the open support to cryptocurrency, the university is warning future students against buying Bitcoin just to pay for the tuition due to the high volatility risk. The institution believes that students should only pay in cryptocurrency if they already own it.

From University of Cumbria is UK's first to step into the Bitcoin world
https://99bitcoins.com/university-cumbria-uk-bitcoin/
So it seems that they accept bitcoin but at the same time are against it's adoption. It's still good that they accept bitcoin but the proposal that comes after that seems like it's a bad coin and users should only use if they accidentally bought it. Personally, I think that while adopting bitcoin or accepting bitcoin payments, universities should add Bitcoin and Blockchain technologies as a subject for those who study finances and informational technologies. But university that accepts it but warns students against it, seems very illogical for me and such university will never include a quality syllabus for this subject.

I don't think they are against cryptocurrency adoption. If they do then, they won't accept BTC as payment.  I see it as them (university) having concern on the possible losses of a student if ever they bought BTC at the wrong time.  Nevertheless, I believe the university is just taking advantage of the technology offered by BTC, and at the same time going with the trend.  And I agree, if universities really support Bitcoin and Blockchain technology, they should add them to the school curriculum.

Maybe as long as bitcoin would be accepted as payment in any kind of business it would be a big help in bitcoin adaptation as it would help and expose people to bitcoin.

So it's always great to have this kind of payment option but I guess it's not common for universities because if you are going to accept bitcoin as a payment I guess that just means you are also investing in bitcoin.

It might affect your business since the price is moving up and down in just a small time, it also depends on the country because not all country is exposed to this technology. But might not be as useful because I don't think bitcoin is suitable for spending but more like just for investment at this moment.

It's a small list so far, but I really hope it'll get bigger because investing in education is my priority for the near future and it's also one of the reasons I tend not to hodl too much in BTC because I won't be able to use it when I need it. It would also be great if it applied to other areas, such as paying visa fees, purchasing accommodation and stuff like that. Who knows, maybe one day the scholarships would also be available in BTC, and it would be easy to spend them on regular things... What's sad is that the list of universities suggests these few started accepting BTC a while ago, and there doesn't seem to be much progress with others joining more recently.

Only a handful as of the moment but I reckon the number would be higher once most institutions and firms around academes start accepting bitcoin too. It will be some kind of a domino effect for this to happen, and it's really not that impossible to happen considering that huge companies already have something to say about bitcoin. Though that's the case, it's still good and refreshing to see that these universities up until now are still accepting bitcoin as-is with no additional catch whatsoever. Only a few dares to do that and I hope it paid off for these institutions.

Bitcoin adoption is a gradual process and am happy to see new businesses and institutions accepting and allowing students to pay tuition fees in bitcoin, I wish to see this happening in my country soon.
