What could have possibly happened is that "new online digital currency" sounds like a sales pitch, and that instantly puts some people on the defensive. Couple that with alcohol, and you have a situation that's ready to blow. Let me do a sample with something most people are touchy about, religion. Sure, it's not an exact comparison, but this could make it a little clearer.

Quote
Person: Hey! Are you a member of Religion1?
Chick: What? No! I don't buy into that shit!
Person: But...
Chick: Didn't you hear me? I don't want your bullshit!

What it could have sounded like was a sales pitch on something.

Just my 2 satoshis.

The direct approach was where you went wrong. You need to use it casually in conversation but loud enough to be heard. Such as "Yeah, I traded a couple of million Satoshi this morning but I expect to get double that back by the end of the week". Then snort a line of coke off the bar.

That is not a genuine Bitcoin enthusiast.  Not nearly enough fire hazards.

And yeah, something which sounds like an Amway pitch probably isn't the best pick up line.

I applaud your effort, but I wouldn't have expected things to have gone any better.
On the other hand if it works then you may be onto something really good.
I´ve always wanted a super-hot geek girlfriend like that one on YouTube who does some tech show, whatever her name was....

Hah love this. For some reason I don't think Bitcoins are the best pick up line.

While the comments here have been very educational, most of my confusion comes from the fact that my thread about a bitcoin discussion was moved  out of the "Bitcoin Discussion" section of the forum...

I really thought I was in the right place, haha.

Excuse me, but according to some people's belief system, that's exactly what he was doing. In that sense, clearly the lady(?) wasn't interested in any BS. If it was me, I would have changed the subject with, "So what do you think about that Obama dude?"

I love Bitcoins as much as any other average guy but women tend to look for different subjects in a bar and you need to develop better strategies to have conversational success.  Women see a lot of creeps in bars so they don't want to strike up a conversation with every random guy, it's stupid to take it personally and make a big deal out of it.

If you are looking for a relationship rather than a conversation one of the best tips is to talk about her and compliment her appearance.  This isn't the way to go with everyone, it's a stereotype that woman are all vain like that and you very well may come off as a creep in the process.  Don't take it personally.  I've found that complimenting a woman on her shoes can work very well.  You should study fashion though and know what you are looking at, try and find a girl with expensive shoes who clearly sees them as a major part of her presentation to the world.  This is just one route, there are many others.

maybe she heard about cam4 credits and other camera whore money making stuff online

and when u said online currency she thought u were calling her a whore by asking her is she had any. not knowing bitcoin isnt 'one of those' credits

but then again going up to a girl and asking them if they have any money (in any form) isnt a good conversation starter

you'll never get a girl using bitcoin as a topic, its kinda third date territory at the minimum. plus girls are only interested in what is in your pants. EG keys to hotel room, wallet, and the obvious.

leave bitcoin out of conversation next time.
if u want to show off how rich you are just keep it simple "i have thousands in a offshore account"
