No doubt Bitcoins are very popular. It’s the oldest cryptocurrency ever developed. It’s popular and I am saying this, as the marketcap is enough to tell the value of the coin. It’s true that Bitcoins have always given great profits to its investors, and now during the bear market, many have withdrawn their trust from the Bitcoins. According to stats and marketcap Bitcoins cannot come to an end like that, So the people who panicked and sold the coins will definitely regret when the bull market will start. The popularity of bitcoin is still very limited to certain layers of society in a country, this is influenced by many things including how these people get information from the media or from person to person. To the best of my knowledge, bitcoin is tagged digital gold because of the value attached to it as the price appreciate as time goes on but currently, the market trend is down and that does not mean it would not go upward trend. You talking about investing in bitcoin is not bad but I would like you to know that the reason why Satoshi Nakamoto invented bitcoin was not for trading in the sense that you buy bitcoin and hoping for it to appreciate so you would sell and take profit, it is not so. I don't urge people to buy because I don't want to take upon myself their losses due to panic selling and inability to protect their coins.
I think that if you are a newcomer who wants to own crypto you should first and foremost own bitcoin. If you're undecided, don't rush it. Maybe you'd feel better if you bought some gold instead.

Bitcoin as the first and most prominent currency of crypto market, acts as driving force for the entire market , it always influences the performance of all crypto projects with it which is also evident from the history of crypto market. All experienced investors always monitor the performamnce of Bitcoin market to take any position in Alts coins. it is also true that sometime, alts coin like Ethereum perform better than Bitcoin in bull run.

First of all, you're a beginner, and secondly, you can't predict the future, so your advice doesn't make much sense, right? You are inexperienced, so you will learn it with time, but if you give advice to people on what to do with their money, you will make more enemies than friends in life. When you advise someone to invest in Bitcoin, don't just think about the price, but also about how that person will buy and store that same Bitcoin - because although it is true that financial gains and losses are realized due to price changes, there are many who become victims of hackers and various scams.

Bitcoin is volatile just like other cryptocurrencies too. The volatility of the market will always have effect on the price of bitcoin in the market, that doesn’t mean it’ll lose its value forever. I mean its undeniable to say Bitcoin rallies influence altcoins but not the other way in my opinion. So Bitcoin may be counted not trend but "trendmaker". So OP is right but result was bit wrong. In my opinion its still safest way to make money in crypto. Bitcoin's is affected more with its adoption-people never abandon it. So its good investment above altcoins.
