1. your smart fridge has a barcode scanner.. you finish the milk. scan the barcode, and the fridge stores that to make a shopping list. you fund the fridge with a certain amount of bitcoin.
then on a certain date or the shopping list total reaches the funds it has.. the fridge then API calls walmart with the shopping list along with a signed transaction.
.

Smart, i would love to get a fridge like this.
So then you directly go to the supermarket and it's ready for you. Or even better if it could be delivered at home. If you think about seniors and people with a handicap, it could be very usefull and some of them will save money instead paying a help giver for exemple. I wonder why it doesn't exist already, even without bitcoin. It shall not be difficult to invent for an experienced man in this field. Maybe using a Raspberry inside and a screen to scan the barcode, a SD to store a system informations ect.

That means a connected furniture would only make sense if there is a display which could offer more services. In that you could start integrate Blockchain / Bitcoin. Any use case?

Thats nice, thanks!

I understand why to connect to the internet the washing machine, fridge, coffee Maschine etc. but do you see any reason why to connect furniture to the internet?

This is a common idea nowadays : people want to put Bitcoin everywhere, in every single thing that exist. People can do whatever they want but I do not think that this is very important. Bitcoin in its current form is for me close to perfect, and maybe, I say maybe, because I have no clear opinion on this hot topic, the only issue would be a too little blocksize.

Probably any kind of prepaid electric meter where we can store some bitcoins and it get will auto debited as per our consumption of the electricity. Same thing about water and kitchen gas. It would be great to live in such house where there will no postpaid expenditure at all.

most things these days are prepaid.

move into a house deposit and 2 months upfront
phone/internet subscriptions. pay upfront for subscriptions.. but the calls / over the limit data allowance moves to following month.

down side of NO postpaid.. is if you run out of funds to cant use it. because they wont send you a bill after use, they just deny service

this is where in england the poor are put on prepaid electric meters. if they run out of money the electric switches off. they either use the 'emergency credit' (extra cost) or some end up selling their stuff to pawn brokers to get the electricity going until payday(incurring costs buying back their stuff after payday).

IoT devices would make great full nodes seeing that they are always online. Maybe some vendor could make something similar to the antrouter that combines a bitcoin miner and a router. Combine a refrigerator and a full node. It would help decentralize the network.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

dont expect IBM(smart fridge) to implement it with bitcoin. hyperledgers is their desire

2. manufacturing.
imagine the automated car making robots. (or sofa/ table / carpet manufacturers with automated robots)
when a dealership sells a car. a customer deposits funds. those funds go to the factory. and a factory "spends" the funds by sending 5% to the wheel robot(which then sees funds arrive and starts making wheels), 60% to the engine robot (which then sees funds arrive and starts making the engine)
etc etc .. and a car is build simply by seeing 'transactions' arrive at a certain address.

the taint of the coins then lets the factory know which dealership to deliver to.
the taint of the coins then lets the dealership know which customer to automatically SMS/email that the car is on its way.

If heating is needed than using a Bitmain Antminer R4 is an option of building in mining hardware in your house; https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitmain-to-launch-antminer-r4-for-home-bitcoin-mining/

But otherwise, what's the point of having a network / blockchain aware light or table? It would just make the furniture more expensive without any benefits. Equipment that otherwise just stand around like your router can be used to keep a copy of the Bitcoin blockchain (this exists), but I am not sure how a carpet connected to a blockchain improves the product. If the thought is to increase node counts and distribute the blockchain then it might be helpful, but that's improving the crypto network, not improving the furniture per se.

If we talk about blockchain technology and integrating it to furniture products then it is very complicated. But when we speak of bitcoin it is much easier, you can accept bitcoin as a mode of payment to the furnitures you are selling. You can even sell your furnitures online and your customers will pay you in bitcoins before you deliver.

I dont know if I have answered it right but I guess my answer is of help.

Guys, I was thinking how you can use Bitcoin or Blockchain in general regarding furnitures? Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for some Brainstorming Smiley
