Totally agree because fiat is being existed for decades and accepted worldwide if your currency is strong. On other hand bitcoin is on nascent stage and not accepted worldwide as of now.

And also because the state must be and has full authority to control bitcoin, the price and total coins in circulation. If two things that can not be done, of  course bitcoin will never replace fiat money.
The big question is, how can the state control bitcoin? FYI, it is decentralized and only those big bag holders can manipulate the price, but there is no guarantee that all the time they can do that. If the government want to control it, they have to purchase a major volume but I don't they will waste money on that.
There are no a lot of things a government could do to control bitcoin, they may try to buy their way in but that will make the price skyrocket and that will only create more awareness about bitcoin, they could try to mine it but that runs the risk of helping bitcoin, they could try to buy the devs but the miners are not going to let them pass whatever they want, like you see it is not an easy task to bring down bitcoin.

Yes i agree, bitcoin can not replace fiat in anyway

That's very vague reply to this topic. It doesn't encourage any good conversation.

It is quite likely that digital currency replaces physical fiat, but his does not necessarily mean Bitcoin. It is more likely to be digital fiat. Western economies already deal more with digital fiat than physical fiat; it's a trend that has been increasing for 20 years already. Physical fiat probably doesn't go away, it will always have a place, but will be very small in comparison to digital transactions using fiat.
The government can make their own digital currency which I believe will be the trend in the future. The world is moving fast and here we are now enjoying what we can benefit of using bitcoin, surely bitcoin will stay but cannot replace fiat to be realistic.

IMO, it's better to keep bitcoin away from fiat so the government cannot regulate us and we can continue to have the freedom like we are enjoying now.

I would have to agree with this. Governments will create their own digital currency because that is the future of everything. Everything will be digital in the future because the world is moving towards the reduction of the use of traditional methods of everything, ie paper documents. However, bitcoin will still have a place in this world because bitcoins is decentralized. That would basically be its weapon.

The government doesn't have to "create" a digital currency. The fiat currency we already have lends itself perfectly well to being digital, and has been trending on its own towards being more digital than physical for quite some time. Checks were the first form of digital currency, when they represented the movement of money without physically handing over bills. Over time, and with technology, it became less necessary to physically move the money authorized by check, and now it's just electrons being transferred back and forth.

A long shot to make that happen. We might be seeing robots on the street first before that could happen. It is hard having just an online money now. There is too much people who cant have the same technology as we do have or they just dont want it. Changing this first is the hard task before we could all rely on money that will just be swiped.

Robots on the street? Then anything is possible, technology will rule the world and bitcoin or some new and improved version of bitcoin will be only currency in the world. That we saw in the movies, and that will happen in next hundred years.
It will not be our choice, governments do what they like, now we are forced to use banks, tomorrow will be forced to use their crypto coin.
LOL by the time we see robots walking among us, i think the limits that restrains bitcoin's surge is already past us. By that time most likely, fiat would already be a thing of the past as everything would already be digital. Although we're talking about several years for this to happen. And realistically, i don't think this generation would be able to see bitcoin replacing fiat. Not this generation or the next. But i think it really is a possibility in the future

because bitcoin without control or decentralized government certainly no one wants to use it. because the government can not do complete control of bitcoin. besides fiat would not be replaced, bitcoin will either be an option
although bitcoin is still not recognize as legal currency but still people want to use it. actually it is the best option for those people who are preferring online business and shopping. actually the people are now moving toward online business on other side bitcoin is a universal currency having same value everywhere therefore it is really helpful for online shopping and business and that is the reason that people are giving preference bitcoin.

There's no government here because it's decentralized, it's easy to understand if you know how bitcoin being different from fiat. Of course, with the present world scenario, bitcoin will not be the mainstream currency and no way it would replace what has been used for centuries.

your fantasy is way too far , simply both fiat and bitcoin for now better to live together ,
but in the future i would say there is nothing impossible to happened include bitcoin to replace fiat ,
technology growing faster , noone knows this one could happen.

What do you mean by controlling bitcoin?

As you answered the question it seems like you were saying control bitcoins like you mean to "control the price".

I don't think so, controlling bitcoins is not just to control the price, as most of the governments can not even control the price of their own currencies.

If a government controls a currency, it means it can have the access to any piece of the currency in the world, they can also take it from you if they wish.

Bitcoin does not have the purpose of replacing fiat, it is a way for some people like us to being able to get our hands in a currency that is very close to fulfill perfectly the idea of a currency, it’s portable, it last longs periods of time, it cannot be counterfeited, it is easy to use, it is a store of value and other characteristics that make bitcoin what it is.

It may not have the purpose of replacing fiat but there are enthusiasts that are looking into it. But of course I know that bitcoin is not going to replace fiat as we know what is the power of government and they will not rely and let their citizens depend on a crypto currency that is still new and there are a lot of things to be studied first with it.

Yes it will not and cannot expressly replace fiat in the foreseeable future but I see that coming at some point because the blockchain technology has come to stay and there are loads of enthusiasm associating with bitcoins which will even be stirred the more as time elapse and people are getting to know and use Bitcoin.

Well, you see how electronics is progressing and BTC becomes more and more famous, so is possible that soon BTC will be usual money.

How do we cash out Bitcoin if its already replaced. Gold? It will be too heavy for most of us walking around with gold bars inside our bags, the newer generations are as slow as sloth. They prefer the slim mobiles because its not as heavy as a their own purse.

Fiat won't be replaced of course, 100USD bill can be a light as a tissue paper and that's convenient when you walk inside a grocery store to buy tampons for your wife.  Grin

To me I do not ask the question if bitcoin can replace fiat, because I do not think it should.
I think it's fine when both can coexist. The way it is now is perfect for me.
If I want to pay with fiat, I pay with fiat. If I want to use bitcoin, I convert fiat into bitcoin. That's the best solution I can imagine.
yes you are right i also do not think that bitcoin is going to replace fiat because still almost all the people of the world are using fiat, some people are using bitcoin for shopping and other activities but they are also taking it as secondary option, and they also mostly depend on fiat for living.
