Until we reach the point where paying for a cup of coffee is as easy with Bitcoin as it is with cash, we will never get mass adoption. And as far as I see it, there is no way of simplifying the acquiring of bitcoins.
In the long run crypto currencies will rule the world, unless something better will be invented.
At this point in time the distribution of bitcoins is a problem and this problem will stay for a while I think. But more and more people are getting some bitcoins and on a large enough time scale everyone will have some. Buying a coffee with bitcoin would not be a problem then because your paychecks will also come in bitcoins.
It might take a while to reached this point of course. But unless someone has a better idea than Bitcoin this point will eventually be reached.
Of course the government won't allow that to happen. At the time Bitcoin grows too large, governments will simply come into action where they take the necessary steps to prevent Bitcoin from further "damaging" the economy. That's why I prefer Bitcoin to stay as it is right now, an alternative. If it stays like that, governments won't have much incentive to apply ridiculous laws where Bitcoin is their main target.
