Hi All,

Does an individual need to hold at least one BTC before they can get the equivalent BITCOIN CASH or BITCOIN GOLD?

I have about 30% of one BTC would I be eligible for some?

If so, I know gold is not out yet but how would I claim bitcoin cash for the amount I have?

Cheers

BItcoin cash ofc

Its doesn't matter that how much bitcoin yoy have. It contains that, which amount btc you have, you get the same amount of bitcoin gold/bitcoin cash.

I don't believe in Bitcoin Gold, especially since it has been only a short period that Bitcoin Cash was created.

You will simply get it depending on the amount of BTC you own, even if that is 1/100 of a Bitcoin.

When is the estimated time of the Bitcoin Gold fork?

October 25 according to their website http://btcgpu.org/

And will electrum support the split like they supported bitcoin cash?
Electrum is an open source project and anyone is welcome to fork it and use it for their altcoin. surely someone will do that if there is enough demand and people were willing to run an Electrum server.
the Electrum developer will not support altcoins in the main Electrum repository as he has never done it so far.

so far your only option is to download the main wallet (bitcoin gold core) which is like bitcoin core a full node. with all the options of latest version.

Also is the fork only applicable to bitcoin or also bitcoin cash? Ie if you have 1 btc you will get 1 bitcoin gold, but if you hold 1 bitcoin cash do you also get 1 bitcoin gold or are they now seoerate chains?
as @Denker said above, it is only bitcoin. the airdrops are always with bitcoin Grin

So other questions to ask would be...

When is the estimated time of the Bitcoin Gold fork? And will electrum support the split like they supported bitcoin cash?

Also is the fork only applicable to bitcoin or also bitcoin cash? Ie if you have 1 btc you will get 1 bitcoin gold, but if you hold 1 bitcoin cash do you also get 1 bitcoin gold or are they now seoerate chains?

Sorry if that sounded confusing lol.

As far as I know the Bitcoin Gold fork is about to happen at october 25th.
In terms of which wallets will support those fork I have no idea so far.
Needs to be seen I'd say. Not that much information available at the moment.
Forks only applicable for Bitcoin!
So you own Bitcoin, you will get Bgold. You own Bcash but not Bitcoin you will not get any Bgold tokens!

I thought this forum is a subset which only deals with ALt coins. You might get more information when you post  the same in bitcoin forum .

As long as you control the Bitcoin private keys of your wallet, you will receive the Bitcoin Gold equivalent of it in your wallet after the fork. I think Bitcoin is now heading to Proof of Stake

If it's a fork that produces a new coin, then essentially that means two versions of the chain... so whatever you hold one on chain you'll hold the same amount on the other. The name of the coin is the only thing that changes (on one chain) to allow people to differentiate between them.

will you need a special wallet for claiming?

Or can you claim it with a normal bitcoin wallet?

no, you need "special" wallets in order to claim these new coins. because they are different altcoins. it is like having another wallet for bitcoin and litecoin separately.

make sure to only download legit wallets though. find them either on their official websites or their official announcements.

The answer is simple, whatever the number of bitcoin is the same amount you will receive for Bitcoin Gold.

For example, if you have 0.001 BTC then you will receive 0.001 BTC-G   Wink

I don't think so first bitcoin cash is different from bitcoin gold. But maybe the new bitcoin gold may overtake the price of bitcoin cash. We don't know how to claim bitcoin gold but be ready on it.

They are the same supporters, Xapo support BCH , then failed, now Xapo support Btc gold < and will fail. Xapo and friends are the same, they are opportunists, they want to hijack bitcoin community for personal profit. That's bad developers and supporters who take instant way to get rich.
Good Xapo wallet. I use it for a long time and I have no complaints. If the course does not take into account the fact that earlier transactions were free. Now the fee is the same as everywhere else. As for support of Alt bitcoins they honestly warned that they will not support them until December you need to transfer them to another location. It is their right.
