I have tried to find scientific articles or journals related to the research into the crime of fiat vs bitcoin, but it cannot be found yet. maybe broadly speaking, fiat crime tends to be more than bitcoin, because basically they have been running longer, there have been many people who tried to commit crimes on fiat, while bitcoin is still new with a fairly complicated security system. but both have similarities, namely crime on the internet / online platform, this is one of the modern issues and problems for the world financial system.

If you dont' specify the where you found it we won't be able to provide you with the proper information. Please provide further specification.

The article was posted here on BTC TALK last year. Unfortunately I dont remember the title. The reason I am looking for it is because it was a study by the UK government. I would like to refer to it especially when talking to individuals that supports governments. The study was agreeing that there are more crimes with fiat than with bitcoin/crypto in general.

It seems that fiat is indeed one of the targets for money laundering because it does seem easy. For bitcoin requires a lot of knowledge about it, must have skills in the field of technology if you want to do it.

Would be interested in finding such a specific article myself just to have on hand whenever people are shooting down cryptos by claiming they're a cesspit for criminals and financial crime. There are more and more stories each day about banks committing financial crime but it seems to get blown under the carpet whereas anything regarding crypto is jumped upon, it's hard to understand how people can be so blind to what's right in front of their faces.

With Fiat money, much more crimes are committed and much more difficult to track, but the emphasis is still on cryptocurrencies:))

Because they see what is bad, that is why they emphasis it. But as we can see, things happened because of the money, it is the fiat, because we all know that it is what is used into day to day life. Bitcoin or cryptocurrency is also used because of the need of money or fiat.

Couldn't find anything regarding this. But it's alarming that crimes using bitcoin are increasing recently. A bit more regulations are needed.

There are thousands of articles regarding crypto crime which without any doubt are overly exaggerated but I couldn't find the one you are referring to. Perhaps there's more to the title?

Sorry but what kind of article are you referring to or from which site or paper? And also don't know what article are you referring to, so the numbers are unknown to me. But this kind of article reminds us that crimes can happen in any form of currency.

it seems like I also don't have the data, but I've read that crime using bitcoin is more about illegal transactions such as drugs and firearms.

Did some searching but couldn't find anything. I would really like to read this article. Some people just assume that bitcoin causes more crime than fiat.

The article might just be removed or the authority doesn't want to share it anymore. So you might just have to get it done from your memories, or just to search the news of the incident and collect the data all over again.

all the ATM card cloning
tourist pickpocketing
forged bank notes
NFC card cloning
hacking retailer websites to steal credit cards
nigerian prince/foreign family member hospital bill scam

FIAT is the most scammed currency

in the last decade TRILLIONS have been scammed out of peoples fiat pockets. (just look at the FIAT debt clock)

yes, bitcoin with using blockchain technology gives a good choice for cyber criminals.
decentralized with peer to peer system makes bitcoin has a high anonymity.

One of the criminal acts that use bitcoin is drug trafficking.

Rose Ulbricht is the founder of silk road, a platform used to facilitate the sale of drugs. he uses bitcoin in every transaction.

I make a pretty research about your article you are referring to l found none. I don't think there is any records as such .although financial crimes are on the daily increase Bitcoin be more vulnerable due to lack of storage regulations. At the moment Fiat is little bit safe for now to my own opinion. we  more more standard compliance in the all the cryptocurrency exchange market  first to stop crypto cyber criminal attack for all trader at all level .

Hi CryptosapienZa,

I don't know about this study you talking about. Would be interesting to read indeed!

Our friend Ivan on Tech was talking about Shapeshift "money laundering"  and added a few numbers about the money laundered by Banks Vs in Bitcoin.
