Sounds like self-serving drivel
The value of a domain seen in isolation is meaningless
Bitcoin.com value is misleading, should be seen as the sex.com of its space , a one-off

After July 24th auction for the domain name Bitcoins.com, other Bitcoin domain values will skyrocket.
Bitcoins.com will sell for $750,000+ and will be published everywhere making other Bitcoin domain values skyrocket.
I personally doubt that prices of bitcoin related domains will increase in value as there are so many potential permutations that any one domain name is simply not unique.

a lot of people are going to buy bogus domains that'll have no value whatsoever, but hey, that's the way these things go. still, a few may have had luck squatting truly useful domains. but it'd guess they're gone by now

Yeah, hearing that price makes me wonder how much my bitcoins.org and bitcoin.net domains would be worth nowadays.
I would argue that the value of these domains would be derived primarily from the underlying content at the domain instead of the name of the domain itself. For example the majority of people go to ebay.com specifically because they are trying to utilize the services of ebay, and if, for example the ebay.com domain was simply a landing page for a news site about dogs (completely unrelated to ebay's current site) then the ebay.com domain would lose the majority of it's value.

A bit of a hit and miss market. You get lucky, and you win big, or you invest too much and loose LOTS.

But I know people who are doing very well, buying and selling domains, but they making sound decisions, when buying domains.

Good luck.

For the 99% of us, investing in btc is a better investment than a domain name, btc-related domain names included.
It is only convenient if you start a new business with or without Bitcoin and need specific domain names.

Moreover, as I can see, already a site is live on this domain. Why on earth the owner will sell it ?
The owner is Mark Karpeles. He sells his domain name to provide some relief to the people impacted by the Mt. Gox bankruptcy.

The domain whois does not show Mark as the domain owner anymore...

Bitcoins.com will sell for $750,000+ and will be published everywhere making other Bitcoin domain values skyrocket.

BitcoinWallet.com domain was sold for $250,000 (Source: http://www.coindesk.com/inc-5000-entrepreneur-buys-bitcoinwallet-com-domain-for-250k/). It did not boost the price of any related domain. So, your assumption is wrong.

Moreover, as I can see, already a site is live on this domain. Why on earth the owner will sell it ?

Domains related to BTC will most likely skyrocket following the increased growth in interest/media attention on bitcoins, Considering you look like a seller however you should wait for that "To the moon!" move before selling  Grin . @DPR you escaped from prison??!? I was so surprised to see you here.

And let me guess, for a limited time only (so act now!!!), you just so happen to have some bitcoin related domain names for sale?
I agree with what you are implying with your post (they will not skyrocket). There are just so many possibilities for domain names that I would say it is unlikely money to be made in this market except for very few.

And much more unlikely given Mark Karpeles is the one selling this one Cheesy Seriously though, I wonder what he'll do with the cash, or whether he's even allowed to do something with it himself?

everyone watch out for a guy trying to sell domain names with a country followed by bitcoin(s).com

EG
frenchbitcoin.com
germanybitcoin.com

he is a known scammer with many "coming soon" websites, all asking people to make a name, username, email and password, for some stupid "update" newsletter the website is soon to offer.

he hopes that people use the same details email/username/password combinations on other legit services, so that he can raid them dry.

and has tried to sell domains but kept the funds as non refundable deposits. and then just changes the supposed owner of the domains. (though its the same guy)
