I do think it will pass, yes.  That's not what interests me, though.  It's how an ETF will affect the bitcoin price, if at all, and I think that's what we all want to know.

My question is, why should it affect anything?  People are certainly free to buy bitcoin as they please, and I don't see the advantage of owning shares of an ETF over real bitcoin.

Another question is, if countries have banned bitcoin (like Russia, I believe?), can citizens of such countries buy the ETF shares?
I too believe that ETF will be surely approved. Analyst and financial management experts have given strong reasons for the approval. One of which is the real time usage and for the regulatory needs. Soon after this as Japan holds regulations in trading we too users around experience the same.

It seems analysts don't think it will pass, but investors do.

I've been reading about it for a while now and about ETF's in general and nothing I've read has explained exactly why the SEC would not approve it.

Why wouldn't it pass?
The wait is almost over mate since March 11 is nearing. I cannot really make a good explanation on why it would pass or not and I just leave it up to the experts.

Upon reading the news, it stated that speculators are expecting ETH will pass and based on what I noticed, the price of bitcoin is increasing therefore I conclude that this is the voice of the investors who believe it will pass.

My judgement is based on the opinion of the many which shown on their actions, so I would say 100% I'm confident it will pass.

I don't think it will pass based on the simple fact of the intense volatility and risk present with such a currency like bitcoin, I believe in Bitcoin to the end I really hope it really does come to a day where it has mass adoption in the world. But I don't think the SEC is going to be setting this precedent with Bitcoin and other risky investments that are attempting to gain ground on getting an ETF approved.

Plus I highly doubt the people in the SEC are going to want to learn about / care enough about the blockchain, Bitcoin, and all these other innovations that may impact the banks that spend millions bribing everyone from the top down in the SEC.

We will soon know about the fate. I heard if there is no answer, it gets by default approved ?

It's true, But in my opinion and understanding only even the SEC disapprove it, still bitcoin will increase more but not as what we expected as high instead of 2000$ at the midst of this year it will only become 1500$. But its only an speculations not sure about this things.

We hope ETF will be approved by SEC. We all know how huge the impact on the price of bitcoin when ETF is approved by SEC. But i doubt that ETF will be approved. Thats why im preparing myself if ever ETF will not approve. Im sure the price of bitcoin will drop again because the only thing that keeps bitcoin pump is because of ETF hype.

I really hope it will passed, it sure will bring great news to bitcoin user and investor, in the future there will be more chance to develop bitcoin potential, a lot of great things waiting for bitcoin user if etf approved

Im starting to think it's better that the ETF doesn't pass. Most of us want to aim for the 21 bitcoin dream, to hold long term and get rich as hell in a decade. We can never achieve this goal if bitcoin keeps rising... its simply impossible to buy every month any relevant amounts if the price is above 1,200+. At this rate it will take me like 2 years to reach my goal...

I think it will get passed and i think that the market thinks so also, which is why we have seen an increase in the price.  one argument that i have heard for them possibly not agreeing it is the size of the market cap is to small.  but i have also seen the counter argument that there are other ETF's that have a smaller market cap now.  I have heard arguments both for and against it being approved and how good it will ultimately be for bitcoin in the long run.

nobody can tell you if it will pass or not unless they are an insider with secret information but then again why would they tell you about it! and analysts say these things because it is their job to do so, they just make guesses nothing more.

one thing is for sure, there will be some effects on the price but don't expect miracles.

My guess is that the ETF will pass. A lot of people seem to think it doesn't have a chance but my gut says it will be approved this time.

Most people are exciting about this ETF Announcement and I hope your gut feeling is correct. Many are hopeful about this. Me too are eager and excited for the SEC to approve this. Let us just wait their announcement, I hope it is in favor to all of us.  Wink

SEC does give a clear answer for it. but just take your conclusion about the approval of the bitcoin ETF by SEC after reading the whole sentences of this article
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/investors-bet-sec-approving-bitcoin-etf-ignore-analysts/

I have not ready any answer from sec in that article.  It only show some analyst's view on the possibel approval of ETF.

I have no idea if ETF will pass or not, it is the SEC decision, no matter how we bragged about it here, it won't change the upcoming decision of SEC if ever they already decided on the fate of requested ETF.  Though I hopefully think that this ETF be approved because it will really give Bitcoin a huge boost on its economic scale.

what wil happen when china is able again to withdraw bitcoin ??
Nothing happen, because in this time they're still running the trading and if the withdraw will be available and i think it just make a little dip or correction for bitcoin and i will be never expecting about the dump from the chinese in the future.

That is a good point, there may be a lot of traders upset with the exchanges for holding the funds. To my knowledge they were not asked to hold withdrawals by the PBOC, and if I had money stuck there I can imagine feeling angry about that and wanting to move my money to another exchange ASAP. If enough whales do that when withdrawals resume, it could lead to a bigger dip.

Maybe time to keep your bitcoins until we know the result of the ETF, if it is approved, maybe we will see a surge in price

it is always time to keep holding your bitcoins, this is not the end. this ETF is going to come and go, it is only bitcoin that stays Smiley
whether ETF is approved or not, in the long term we will go up, and for those who are not traders holding bitcoin is the best option rather than trying to get involved with the crazy market to sell and buy at bottom.

It is absolutely not "always time to keep holding your bitcoins", are you high? I would never hold my coins when there's a huge price drop that looks like it'll put me in the red, I sell before it gets to the price I bought it at and buy more for cheaper on the dead cat bounce. It's always surprises me that people trade by not trading LOL

But I am sure in future we are going to have so many ETF which will be bitcoin based. So, I am sure even this time Winklevoss brother fail this time, they or some other people will bring bitcoin etf into existence one day or other for sure. (Only concept will be the problem, if anyone innovate a concept, someone will bring it into reality. That is what history emphasize to us all the times ).

I mean to say regardless of this time ETF's approval, I will be holding my bitcoins at least till my retirement (I believe it would take another 25 years to get retired).
