Yeah I've been using Kraken since I've been introduced to bitcoin and they have pretty low fees indeed.
Can't complain about their service.

just try Lakebtc or Bitstamp, trading fees both are lower than 0.2%

if you always deposits and withdrawals, you will like Lakebtc; if not, you will like Bitstamp. \

anyway, you will find your Mrs. right within them.

I would say for the convenience coinbase provides, 1% is low.

What other exchange or service provides an instant buy option using your bank account?

You guys saying 1% is high must be forgetting that there are wire fees associated with sending funds to these other exchanges.

I stay in singapore and use https://www.coinhako.com/ - they charge almost 2% and I think it is higher - any other suggestion for me to reduce this fee

Hi Fullypak,

Gatecoin is based in Hong Kong and has BTCHKD BTCEUR BTCUSD and ETHBTC markets. The fees start at 0.35% and can be as low as 0.05% (depending on your monthly traded volumes). The wire transfer costs from Singapore to HK are not high and if you create an account using this link https://gatecoin.com/register?referralCode=CINGGE you can get 10 USD after your first wire.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Where are you getting 1% from? I thought coinbase exchange was 0.25%?

When I bought bitcoin from them it was 1%.

I think you used just "Coinbase". You need to go on the "Coinbase Exchange" and it's 0.25%.

You can try https://coinmkt.com/ it think their rate is fair.
Hey I forgot btc-e.com their rate is 0.20%, low verifications and fast executions.

Yes, but op is from US, and is seeking for an US based exchange. btw there's a lot of issues reported by US traders regarding btc-e and
wire transfers. And even though i use them for years w/o issues, i wouldn't recommend an exchange that is unclear were it is even based at.
Also heard that circle is good alternative for US residents , but i didn't trade there yet.

cheers

If you already own bitcoin and want to trade long/short, try www.cryptofacilities.com. Never had issues there and there fees are almost zero. As low as 1/100th of a percent.

So Kraken is letting people buy and sell bitcoins for fractions of a percent in fees. This would be awesome, except they are in Europe and only allow digital currency exchange for US customers. Coinbase charges 1%; does anyone know of a good and reliable exchange in the US that offers fees comparable to Kraken?

Wait a minute, I thought Kraken lets people from all over the world to trade. When you are registering, there is every single country to be picke and they offer SEPA and international wire transfers.

Did I miss something?

see this,  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-exchange-reviews-collection-the-most-complete-695082

you will find 1% is an astronomical figure;   most exchanges trading fee is less than 0.5% (not include chinese exchange, they usually for free to trading and high fee to withdraw).

in this thread, you can compared these exchange in all respects expecially fees.  and for US, if you are not in NewYork, it still applicable.

more, I suggest Lakebtc, its deposit is free, and trading fee is only 0.2%, even withdraw fee is just 0.3% / 0.2% / 0.1%.

0.25% is for trading 1% should be for withdrawal, unless they changed again their whole fees system

1% is too much, I guess.

I like cex.io, cause I can deposit with MasterCard, and trade for 0.2%. They're long on the market (2013, I believe). And though they've been into cloud mining for a long time, they managed to create a good exchange service.
The volume is not as high as on Bitfinex, but non-professional traders would definitely like this exchange.

I personally prefer cryptsy and they just charge only 0.25% it's just a small amount of fee.

coinbase fee is 1% and they are still very popular. they must be doing something really good. btc-e fee is just 0.2% which is quite fair. bitstamp would allow to decrease the fee significantly, but only if you're a high volume trader.

Most exchanges charges less than 1%
In the US there are not the big players except coinbase and Kraken.
But check Bitfinex, Bitstamp, btc-e,anxpro.com ,citcurex, they all offer USDollar Fiat
