Wait a second.. why hasn't nobody thought about this yet  Huh
What if Satoshi was an alien?  Shocked
People did think of it. Also AIs and whatmore.

Why would aliens that have machines allowing them to fly by bother to go through all the fuss? They could simply take whatever they wanted (see ant anlogy above).

So what about ET then? Stranded on our planet with all tech broken....    Grin

I don't think they need bitcoins, because they have better technologies.

Alien machines will eventually come here to trade Bitcoins with us because Satoshi was an alien that visited earth a few short years ago. Satoshi seeded Bitcoin on this planet because his race is far too intelligent to manufacture something as dangerous as Plutonium-239 and Highly Enriched Uranium. Satoshi's planet uses these concentrated elements in their food processing sterilization machines to make food from a nearby world edible for them. It is much more efficient to use these radioactive harvesters on the planet before shipment back to Satoshi's home world than the previously used method of having the return ship orbit the nearby star before returning.

Being an intelligent and benevolent race they refused to enslave humanity to produce the needed radioactive concentrates. Instead they planted a seed program in the minds of a few select earthlings that could help it spread. They found a suitable subject in the mind of one young man named Michael. They instructed him to create a forum and spread Bitcoin to the world. Michael told Satoshi that it was too complicated for humans to understand and no one would believe that it was created on earth. He also told Satochi he believed they could use another guys invention called "Hashcash" and build a system on its design to remove any concerns about a possible alien origin. Satochi agreed and in a few seconds created Bitcoin. He placed a few imperfections in the newly created software to further quell suspicions of alien origin and programmed a human cyborg named Gavin with the necessary corrections to make it appear as if it was still in development. Satochi told Michael to get his followers to transplant the worlds currencies with Bitcoin and then they could trade in the future using an interface between Bitcoin and their more sophisticated hash based algorithm which also provides a constant-sized output for any input, and is irreversible.

He also instructed young Michael to have each country contact him as the currency is accepted to begin selling their concentrated radioactive isotopes for Bitcoin. Satochi let Michael know that his people understand that not all nations are crazy enough to create these isotopes but tell them not to worry because we also buy live video feeds with Bitcoin showing fully nude large breasted blond bitches. Michael got straight to work putting his minions on the task of conquering the worlds monetary systems.

Assuming the aliens are friendly
Never assume the aliens are friendly.

Or that they even count us as worthy of their attention.

Ants. What do they have that we want? Well suppose you want to build a shopping complex, but Darn! There’s an ant colony right there. What do you offer the colony for their land?

Assuming the aliens are friendly, if they have the technology to travel around the universe willy nilly, there's likely nothing we have on our planet that won't be found for free on other planets, or cannot be created by the aliens themselves.  At best, the aliens might offer us something in exchange for the ability to study us--so the question is, what would the aliens give us that we would want?

No one will ever have the technology to travel the Universe willy nilly. Likely the first alien contact will be with a self replicating probe. So what can you offer a self-replicating probe that is of value? xD

Maybe hard to mine rare earth minerals that couldn't be accessible from the surface of a moon?

Trying to link this to OP then perhaps BTC would be the currency of choice for the probe since it wouldn't have to carry heavy PMs to conduct whatever business a probe conducts and because probes can't open accounts with banksters. It would also probably be a few millennia old so the tendency of fiat to evaporate would probably be more apparent to it.

But they can scan for a large asteroid made up of mostly gold. If they used that gold to buy things from us, we would right away value gold at 5$ a kilo  Tongue

They might. But some humans have already spotted 55 Cancri e.

When they suck our flesh and brains they'll be left with nice round skulls. These would work well as barter instruments for some aliens.

PM most likely. At least it would be something they would understand, even if what humans consider precious has no value to them.
BTC maybe assuming the crypto behind it is alien technology proof.
Fiat = monopoly money.
