Good and generous ideas here! I'd recommend you get in touch and team up  with the Bitcoin100 initiative - they are promoting charities adopting BTC for fundraising. See https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-100-developed-specifically-for-non-profits-52543 for example and http://bitcoin100.org/

Thanks, I will!

RUM AND CARROTS: A PIRATE LIFE FOR ME
I know the Bitcoin community tends to be a bit hard hearted in things, but I had stumbled across a number of sites last night dealing with children Born HIV+ and in need of an adoption. If anything feels terribly unfair- it's the idea of being born, abandoned, and being HIV+ through no fault of your own. It's just not right that children can be young and already not expect anything good to come of this world.

http://positivelyorphaned.org/   (Heartbreaking list of HIV+ kids needing adoptions around the world)

Then I found this site:

http://www.projecthopeful.org/

Which deals with helping to find adoptions for kids with HIV. They have a list of Urgent Needs: (http://www.projecthopeful.org/waiting-kids/urgent-needs) as well as a registerration-required list of children in need of adoption.

They are a registered Charity organization and they accept donations. I think it would be a wonderful thing to do this time of year if the community could come together and do something for Organizations like this. I was thinking of contacting Bitpay if they would be willing to do the conversion to $$$ for free so that the Charities don't need to figure out Bitcoin on top of what they normally already do. I first wanted to see though if the community would be willing to help out and be willing to donate if Bitpay comes on board to help out with the details.

So think of this a bit like a Pledge wall, it's Christmas time and .5BTC or 1BTC really isn't so much to ask. It's good PR for the community and shows we can do something other then launder money, or buy drugs. It's also a kind thing to do.

I pledge 1BTC.
