I reread this entire thread and other threads directly related to Bitcoin 100, and read my archived PMs (mostly Bitcoin 100 related). Also, researched ALL 532 txs pertaining to 1BTC1oo1J3MEt5SFj74ZBcF2Mk97Aah4ac combing through its 11 pages as well as the 6 pages over on https://www.walletexplorer.com/address/1BTC1oo1J3MEt5SFj74ZBcF2Mk97Aah4ac. What an undertaking!

I probably stand to get a little bit back but I'll suggest this anyway.

Look up the worthwhile charities that you funded. See if they still have a Bitcoin donation option. Collect up a list of the ones that do and split the remaining funds with all of them equally.

The funds will be going to good causes and guarantee that they never remove their Bitcoin option.

This will also be much easier than trying to locate the people that gave up on Bitcoin long ago. You won't be able to find many of the people that donated.

So true. But, this is part of startup culture and entrepreneurship.

Okay, give me a day or two to formulate a couple reasonable solutions, rest assured that'd be welcomed by most whom contributed.

I rarely visit this forum anymore and I let the domain registration of bitcoin100.org lapse some time ago. I agree with Ente that one of the two above options would be acceptable. I vote for returning funds to donators proportionate to their contributions over finding a way to continue with the original intentions since it would be considerably easier. Bitcoin100 was a noble pursuit and I think it served its purpose rather well, but it's probably time we moved on.

Bruno, would you care to contact Rassah or should I track him down? I believe he is active on Reddit and Facebook.

I nominate Bruno for king of BTC100! :-)

Bruno, what should we do at this point?
I propose we either follow up on the original mission, or shut it down.

Not a single satoshi was every misallocated, albeit I have reason to believe that a couple or so NPOs we endowed may have been nefarious actors in spite of in-depth vetting, but that's water under the bridge.

Please PM me, Bruno, the founder of Bitcoin 100, if you have any concerns needing addressing.

Rest assured that there's no nefarious activity afoot regarding Bitcoin 100.

BTW, the ONLY reason I stepped away from Bitcoin 100 is because Josh Zerlan accused me of stealing funds which was an impossibility, but for the protection of this venture I felt it best to remove myself for the ranks to make sure it wasn't marred, coupled with I busied myself playing scam buster at the time, dedicating countless hours for the protection of Bitcoin et al.

FYI, there's even another chunk of moneys in bitcoin that's also part of the overall pool that few are aware of or may have forgotten about, but I haven't, and that, too, is safe and sound (edit: I was thinkin' 'bout that anonymous donation which was always part of the overall pool). All in all, there's ~$70K USD (109.46781528 BTC) in the pool at today's exchange rate.

I just happened upon this thread and I have to say that while it seems that a great idea it seems to have gone through some changes.  Is there a quick breakdown of what has happened and what the end result was to the service described that can resolve the 100+ pages in the thread?

Rassah hasn't visited the forum in a month. Do you have a way to contact him? I think we should get back the proportional amount of our donations if Rassah can be contacted.

I still have my backup copy of the private keys and am happy to do whatever the community wants with the coins.
Of course I will defer to Rassah first since he was the main organizer.

Afaik, nothing changed, and Rassah and Roger both have access to the private keys. With Rassah being the formal treasure person, and Roger the backup.

But yes, BTC100 obviously is dead.
As nothing is happening here, I would like to get my 3 BTC donation back, to redistribute to other causes.

As an alternative, we might "liquidate" BTC100, reaching out to every single donator, and splitting the remaining funds proportionally between all reachable donors?

Bitcoin100 ends the same way every other startup ends in bitcoinland. We wonder why normal people look at Bitcoin and go, "I'll pass, thanks but no thanks".

Guess I'm not up to date,
I usually just check the website for some NGOs/non-profits/good causes and then directly donate to them after checking their sites for donation-adresses,
but now i can't even check BTC100.

Is it just me/my connection, or is it really officially dead now (that would be a shame)?

Yeah sorry, "pyramid" is a bad word. The initial idea was called KNOCKOUT like a KING OF THE HILL type thing where the top donor was there and if someone want to be the top donor they clicked the block and donated $1 more then the top donor to take the current block and then it would show the KO'ed donor in the list below after the original BLOCK EXPLODED...lol Once you guys get back up and running let me know and I'll promote the crap out of you guys as well.

I'll have free open source tools on bitcoincharity.org for you guys to use hopefully soon. It's just hard to find TRUSTED developers who aren't trying to screw you...lol As soon as I have the KNOCKOUT script finished I'll make sure it's coded open source too and posted to github.

One thought right away: I'd suggest to use a different name than "pyramid". Like, any other name would be better than that. It took me a moment to realize this indeed has nothing to do with "all donations go to the pot, and the top X charities receive part Y of it" ;-)

Great to see so much is in the works there, I am sure we will integrate parts of BTC100 in there, one way or another!

Well that would be totally up to you guys but I personally registered BitcoinCharity.org because I do like this BTC 100 idea to an extent, but I think in addition to just pledging bitcoin to the charity that agrees to accept BTC? We need to offer them cool and EASY ways TO ACTUALLY ACCEPT it as well.

ONE Idea I had was the pyramid which I mentioned in an earlier post ( http://donatemedia.org/?page_id=105 having our own bitcoin api developed for it as we speak), we could easily make those blocks go to TOP 100 Donors instead of TOP 10. So to allow the charities we solicit to accept bitcoin, they would just come to my Bitcoincharity.org site, enter the receiving wallet address they'd like to use and a little code snippet is generated using our own api and everything (sort of like what blockchain.info does for their donor buttons), and the charities implement the snippet onto their site and they then can request the $1k or whatever the donation pledge was once the charity has been verified. Good way to also advertise bitcoin 100 too, because there could be a little link under the pyramid that directs possible NEW charities to bitcoin 100 as well.

And it doesn't have to the PYRAMID Script, we could look into development of other cool scripts in addition to the PYRAMID script, the bitcoin auction scripts are nice and would benefit charities who sell donated goods, bitcoin charity raffle scripts could be developed, etc... I'm just throwing ideas out there right now, but the decision is ULTIMATELY up to ALL of you who have contributed and built up Bitcoin 100 to this point. I'd be glad to take it over as a Donate Media Inc. DBA OR we could focus new efforts with BitcoinCharity.org in building nice bitcoin only accepting apps and scripts for charities to implement.

So whether it's just helping you guys promote bitcoin 100 the way it is, that works. If you would like me to take it over and try to revive it, that's cool to or like I said we could dissolve it and work everything into the BitcoinCharity.org scripts & app development. So half the pledge donations go into script development and the other half go into the approved charities who agree to place the scripts or apps on their site.

No decision has to be made anytime soon, just offering some options.

Once I'm officially launched with Donate Media and have the BitcoinCharity.org site up and running I'll have an ANN thread going.

I just received my IRS approval in the mail today guys & gals and registered BitcoinCharity.org which I'll be doing a quick DBA to DONATE MEDIA INC. to have that site focus entirely on Bitcoin related charity work going forward. The IRS approval of my charity means any donations received would now be tax deductible under IRC Section 170 as well for all donors. So just wanted to give everyone a heads up if there's still any interest in continuing this venture. I'm still about 10 days or so from official launch but all is looking good. Wish me luck!

Thanks for responding. I donated a couple of btc and agree that I would be willing to have any remainder go to a good single cause. I know it's not doing anyone any good having the project sit in limbo forever. Let us know when you're able to contact Rassah and work something out.
