The only way to create new Bitcoin is to mine them with mining program. There's no thing such as 'generator' which will produce new Bitcoin. I once fall for a trap like this. I'm lucky that I did not download. Else, I wont be here as a Bitcoiner.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even Satoshi himself once said that that he is creating something like bitcoin generator. So it is not pure fiction. Original quote from Satoshi:

Quote
June 18, 2010: I planned on creating a free bitcoin generator. When it gets too hard for mortals to generate 50BTC, new users could get some coins to play with right away.

While it is true that 99.9% of bitcoin generators right now are purely scams and malware but there is possibility of creating one that really works.
If Satoshi created such thing bitcoin generator. Any one can generate bitcoin from the thin air. Then mining becomes meaningless. He will destroy bitcoin completely.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about a faucet. Back in the day even Gavin operated a faucet that gave out much more than the scrap BTC you get from today's faucets.

Well back in the day you could make tons of BTC with faucets, but back in the day BTC was literally worthless, it's not like Gavin was a good Samaritan giving free money out there.

As long there are naive people, there will be crypto scammers. Magic coins, generated as soon as you press a button? WTF?

There are still some people who still fall into these kind of scams. Idk how the hell are they even victimized by it but it seems that gullible and naive people, mixed up with some experienced yet greedy people often end up biting the bait of these type of scams.

Ive recently discovered bitcoin generators that supposedly "Generate bitcoins" at the click of a button.I got curious and was wondering if anyone actually successfully used a bitcoin generator

Oh my God.
I hope you didn't download and run that program.
Because it is probably either a virus, a trojan, a keylogger or a wallet thief.

Seems like you dont know how bitcoin works. Bitcoin is not generated with a single click. Nothing will be ever able to generate bitcoin with a single click. What you have discovered is just a malware that might steal your private key for your wallet. Beware of it

it's probably something that as to do with coingenerators, was a scam ponzi site, apparently the owner of it were the same one of another site called cointellect

they were based on the same ponzi scheme

the only bitcoin legit generators is the mining activity done with asic, nothing else

I would urge you to be very skeptical.

As many have correctly said, you cannot create or generate new bitcoins at the mere click of a button.

I have seen the sound functioning logic of one system that can collect free Bitcoin for you.  It would be inaccurate to label that as a bitcoin generator.  It would also be a relatively small amount.

I have seen those on Youtube, and have often wondered what the purpose of that can be. I know it's some kind of trojan horse or Malware, but I have not had time to test them in a sand box.

If you know how Bitcoin work, you know that it's impossible for someone to "generate" coins out of thin air. Why would it be possible for someone to download a APP to generate Bitcoins without doing any mining?

Ask yourself this question : Why are people paying millions of dollars to create Bitcoin mining farms to mine Bitcoin? If it was possible to click on a link, download a APP and magically generate Bitcoins, without any mining... would they have spend that kind of money? NOPE

I wonder if it's not some kind of shill, trying to trick people, to make them turn against Bitcoin or cheap advertizing for something else. Anyone willing to test it?

Those Bitcoin Generators do NOT generate Bitcoins for you but rather the person that has created it.
You see what you have downloaded (and I hope you haven't used) is what one would call a "wallet stealer".
Therefor it will generate Bitcoins but not for you.

One does not simply generate a handful of btc within a click of a single button. Chances are, once you clicked that button, a script would be activated that can probably steal some essential data on your pc and might cause your system to be infected with some malware. Be careful of those sites that promise you these kind of things.
