When I was an athiest I thought the same things.
That's amazing! How does a perfectly rational human being become suckered into these religions, then? All I can say is, you were never an Atheist, or you felt Atheism did not grant you enough power to say things like, "You're wrong because the Bible -> God -> I speak for/I am God -> I am right." It must be easy leaving all your thinking to a 2000 year old fanfic of Judaism, with the insertion of a new OC named Jesus Christ, who, just like the character God, holds no evidence of existing outside the context of the Bible, aside from sources proven to be fake. If the Jews came first, why aren't you Jewish? Why not worship the sun god, Ra? Why not worship Zeus, or Jupiter? Nobody to worship them with? Why must it be Christianity?
No, because there's power in numbers. Christians have an anthology that says "No,
we're right, and those other guys? The ones whose religion we stole and re-branded? Yeah, those guys are totally wrong," that makes the Christians right. Because the Christians have a series of novels that say, "Anyone who disagrees is OBVIOUSLY evil and/or worships Satan/is a witch/probably gay." Because the Christians pick and choose what they want to believe in the Bible and use it to pretend they're saying anything meaningful but are actually no better than a Harry Potter fan taking a quote out of context to fit whatever it is they're trying to argue; if this sounds silly, it's because it is, but no sillier than quoting the Bible, but how could millions upon millions of Christians all be wrong for thousands of years? Because there's power in numbers. And no history occurred before the Bible; there was next to nothing before Adam and Eve, and people just instantly knew how to farm and clothe themselves and speak a comprehensible language out of the box thanks to a fruit which God placed before Adam and Eve and said "Don't touch" knowing very well that he programmed his creations to touch it, as God is perfect (yet somehow imperfect), as God is ultimate (yet incapable), as God is omnipresent (yet we've been unable to grab undeniable evidence of this omnipresent God for as long as man has existed), because God is
SO UNBELIEVABLY EVIDENT that Christians must send missionaries to other countries to show just how evident God is, because he's obviously there! He's obviously there! You may not know it, but that's just because you're wicked and you're going to Hell if you don't start accepting these obvious truths that I've come to tell you about because you just don't want to see it, you're in the dark and your life has no meaning whatsoever before Christ, because fuck your culture and fuck your religion, mine is the only, the one and only, and I worship the true God, of the ~2.5k gods to have ever existed, created by men who hadn't even realized the world was spherical (whups, guess God just decided to keep His mouth shut, which is funny, as He'd ask a man to kill his own son for Him but wouldn't reveal something as basic as the Earth being spherical), the only God that ever is and ever will be is the one I currently worship. Wow.
Any of this making sense? Because I'd like to say, to a normal human being, this all looks fucking wild. And this is standard Christianity. Check out the invention of Mormonism if you want a real trip into how many lies a person can be led to believe. Anyway, feel free to call me ignorant, evil, blind; call me the devil if you want, but I can't go to a place which exists only in imagination, so I'm afraid I'll be receiving no punishment for my blasphemous "
reason" anytime after death, nor will the fictitious God swoop from the Heavens and tear my house to pieces. Know why?
Because he only exists in books.
Well, i didnt mean to join this argument but i am in. i havent even read all of what @pizza posted. I am replying this post because i ve seen some few wrong things in your reply.
first of all it is always funny to me when i see people doubting the existence of God.
Please try this for me: put a working analogue watch on the floor somewhere, then call a passerby and tell him that the watch came up on its own and just happen to be there. no human being made it. it formed and was there through a natural phenomenon and reply on this forum telling us what he told you
Even for a normal and relatively simple analogue watch, no one would believe it came on its own, how much more the world and its complexity. look at the the moon, its movement around the various planets so perfectly synchronized with the planets movements around the suns happening in so orderly a manner for the likes of us to get perfectly timed years , days, months , weeks. what kind of natural occuarence is that? the chances are zero.
that is not all, to tell me life forms like humans came from lifeless nothingness nonesense whatever. seriously, have you thought about it??
doest it "do" you like it is too beautiful for it to be on its own? doesnt it do you like God made them?
that is not all; look at nature. i am a medical student and i know a little of how the human body works and you probably have no idea how glorious it is. i cant even say more because there is too much wrong for me to type about.
if you dont worship God, we dont say you are gay,or witch or satan worshiper, or evil. you don't have to lie to spice up your argument. "If you are out to describe the truth, leave elegance to the tailor" - Albert Einstein
The harry potter - bible comparison you made there was really silly. i'm sure you have realized that by now. even J. K. Rowling will call you delusional for quoting harry potter and running around with it as truth or reality.
please never make such a silly comparison to the bible.
its unfortunate you havent been able to grab the undeniable evidence of God.
i believe in God because there is more evidence that he exists that that he doesn't.
He created man and gave man his own will. we all have our own will. if you were programmed, i'm pretty sure you wouldn't be saying this and i wouldn't be typing this.
