Those gold bitcoins can be sold in the future at collectors, it can be a nice investment depending on the demand and the quantity of the coins delivered.

PSA:  Physical coins are collectors items, and not a good cold storage method.  Especially if you buy them used.

Its a nice idea. I am guessing this would be good for cold storage. I remember a few years ago some guy also sold these, and litecoins, and different divisions of bitcoin, but he got shut down or something.

Chinese are known to be gold bugs. Since bitcoin incorporates some of the very core fundamentals of Gold) scarcity, rather predictable supply, etc. it's logical to assume there'd be many people who would want to buy themselves some shiny coins. Think Casascius.

A beautiful coin, but call me racist or whatever you want but I would be a bit concerned buying a gold coin from China...
Racist. Well, at least you knew you were being a racist. That's something.

Lol, the guy who took the photos now has all the private keys  Cheesy
I'm pretty sure the owner of those coins made those photos for him. One can not be that dumb and be able to make such great coins in the same time.

I'm going to be pedantic but as far as I know you can't have 'pure' gold but you can have .99 gold and various carats.

>_< aside from the obvious journalism fail they look nice they seem to be a lot like Casascius' coins but fancier, which lets be honest is a bit unusual for the Chinese because they're mainly known for making cheap copies.

Casascius made pure gold coins a few years ago Tongue

True enough but they have been out of market for a while now if I recall correctly
Needs a new mint Smiley
https://www.casascius.com/

The coins, made of pure gold, weigh one ounce each and have their private keys engraved on the back in 2D barcode, enabling the owners to access them by using smartphones – the images were pixelated for anyone who intend to try his luck. Because each coin contains a unique serial number and unique barcode pattern, they all had to be individually crafted, which made the process quite time consuming. It took the author three months to produce a total of 101 coins.

Still its nice to see some more on the market and they look nice.
