Well,if you look at it from the convenience, don't you think its too much of a hassle to use bitcoin payments to book a hotel ?How is one suppose to send you the coins ? From their phones ,as on travelling ,they can't really use their secure wallets and its always risky to use public computers. There are no such advancements unless the customer has a mobile wallet and stable internet. You can keep it as a option.

I only use bitcoins to book all of my hotel reservations. I just use Expedia and pay when I reserve my room.

A discount for paying in bitcoins would certainly make me want to stay at this hotel. I've been meaning to visit Croatia. Do it and consider me one of your first Bitcoin customers.

I've PMd you the apartments website so if you're planning on coming down to Croatia, we are the place for you Smiley

Why dont u post the link here, maybe u can get some extra traffic and we can follow how your BTC venture s progressing.

I think you have to work on your advertising skills Cheesy Who's going to ask for "can I have your worst apartment please?" Cheesy
Thought the same Cheesy

"Excuse me, may I have the worst and cheapest apartment here?" "Sure, the toilet is always free of charge.. Oh, but donations in bitcoin are welcome, sir - the ATM is over there."

Definitely something to improve, especially if looking to attract BTC users. Grin

But for sure it's a great opportunity for Bitcoin to become widely accepted across EU. As always we're behind with modern technology but thanks to crypto currencies Europe might not be the "worst" continent right now, if European Commission doesn't use to publish rubbish laws for regulation.

This could be a large step for Bitcoin in Croatia and whole of Europe
Do you want to do this to gain more customers, or to create Bitcoin awareness? I don't think you can get a normal paying customer to buy bitcoins to pay his hotel with, but you might be able to draw more bitcoin users to your hotel.
If I had a choice between two hotels, and in one of them I could pay with bitcoins, I would do that just for fun Smiley

The discount percentage, would surely attract more customers and some might even be forced to understand what BTCitcoin is (just for sake of availing the discount promo), so it's good proposal. The only problem would be with tax law's governing your country in regards to this, specially for something this big, there might be a need for a review and some sort of approval license for the hotel to be allowed to accept BTCitcoin instead of fiat (IIRC there have been similar cases).

To some that have concern about how their going to use BTCitcoin if their traveling tourists, AFAIK almost all the hotels nowadays provide internet connection to their customers so they could use their cellphones and in case their mobile internet wasn't accessible, they could use hotel's wifi. They could use a VPN to make it more secure then easily do the transaction from their phone (no need to have a laptop).

Nice idea. The use of bitcoins is still subjective and not mandatory. As mentioned by someone above,no one likes to carry their cold storage or say personal desktop around and doing stuff from public computers involves risks. So better yet just keep the usual fiat unless the person has access to his coins and he doesn't mind paying with it.Good to see you promoting bitcoin on commercial basis. Good idea, especially offering a discount it should bring you some bookings.  Most people would have some kind of mobile wallet or could even use one if they had to.

If you could integrate the payment option into your site that would be even better, Bitpay and Coinbase are used by a lot of businesses in this way.

As more payment options do you accept, better for your customers. It could be a good option for tourist with different fiat currency. If you give them a discount and they didn't have to pay fees for changing currency they will have a nice discount for using bitcoins to book your apartments.

Hey PinkLlama Smiley

That is a very good idea! But what is the law like in Croatia for Bitcoin? I am not familiar which the Bitcoin law across Europe (Besides a little in the UK), just to be safe that's all.

If the law is relaxed I can only think accepting Bitcoin will be good for business!

I'm not really sure about the laws which maybe a problem. Since we do have Bitcoin ATMs here, I think it's all legal and tidy. I'll do some research nevertheless.

Are you going to use some bitcoin payment processor like BitPay for it, or are you dedicated to manage your bitcoin transaction yourself in a p2p way?
Also if you have a site it is nice idea to include info about possible Bitcoin payment, but don't include prices in BTC only - due to high volatility tomorrow it could be wrong.

We'll either develop our own Bitcoin payment processor or we'll do the transactions ourselves P2P.

If you start accepting Bitcoins, I'm sure you will get extra guests at your hotel just because you accept Bitcoins.
I'm sure you know that Expedia already allows to pay for hotels in Bitcoins.

Hey! So my company (which is a VERY large company in Croatia) owns a hotel and about 30 apartments which we rent out. Now, I've been thinking of starting to accept Bitcoin as a payment method for both the hotel rooms and the apartments. We are full every single day of the summer both in the hotel and in the apartments. Our top apartments are BTC0.5627 per night and our worst apartments are BTC0.1790 per night. I've been thinking of giving a, maybe, 5-10% disscount if you use Bitcoin as your payment method. This could be a large step for Bitcoin in Croatia and whole of Europe as we have a shit ton of people coming from all over the world. Your guys' thoughts on this?
