Buying bitcoin isn't "investing," it's speculating. There's no business that underlies bitcoin, so it doesn't generate income or profit. Speculating is always more risky than investing in an actual business or company.

Would you say there is a strong business supporting gold ?
True, some people use it as jewllery and it has some industrial use, but most of people who buy it, hold it as an investment or inflation hedge.
There are some people who trade gold (or derivatives based on gold) as a speculation.

Isn't it similar with bitcoin ?

Investing in bitcoins may be quiet risky and you may have many doubts for it but you just have to trust and believe in it.

Investing bitcoins is as risky as investing in some other stock markets but it is worth giving it a try.

it depend on how much you're willing to invest, i'm sure that in the past many were only looking to invest a small amount, which would guarantee few bitcoin, that could lead to a potential big profit, because the value was very low at that time

it's the same nowadays, you can invest $100 for 0.4 btc and waiti for it to hit 10k or even more, low risk, but the potential is still very big

What matters is getting the risk/reward ratio right.
The higher the risk, the higher the expected reward should be.

You can argue that bitcoin volatility is creating more opportunities than for example investing in bonds, although the risk is higher as well.
