I think bitcoin is not safe. In a way that there are times that you will scam or even lose in a gambling site and it will cause you to invest more in gambling until all your btc was lost. Bitcoin is good in our daily life and we know that it is very helpful. The thing is you need to make some strategies that will help you to earn many btc. And at the same time you'll need to sure that it is safe.

Bitcoin is 100% SAFE!!! The only that that are unsafe are the sites that where you invested your bitcoin! rgarding gambling, it is the decision of the gamblers that lead them into bankruptcy. You should not put all the blame to bitcoin, it is always your choice where to invest and how to use your bitcoin!

In my opinion there are still flaws with the system regarding most bitcoin wallets but if you are asking about bitcoin and not about bitcoin wallet I think Bitcoin is truly amazing and I think the word hack is not the right term but the word "control" and bitcoin can not be controled by anyone but it can process by everyone and that is the very great thing about bitcoin,

Bitcoin is safe. But not really 100% safe.
Keep in mind that no matter how safe is bitcoin if the owner is not careful with their bitcoin
Aside from DDOS attack. Third party like exchangers that are vulnerable from hackers attacks could possibly loss your bitcoin.
Any change or attempting to change anything in the source code requires consensus from many known developers and only after all voted then they can have access to it in github the open source community.

No system is one hundred percent safe. This becomes even more difficult when it comes to something that works over the internet. However, there are ways to avoid problems when using this, I think that almost all problems could be avoided if users take the necessary security measures to protect their coins.

I think yes bitcoins is 100% safe because
bitcoin has about 50000x more computing power than the top 500 supercomputers combined  https://t.co/Uk8uMzQIgR
at least the supercomputers that be builded today
but i don't know about specific of supercomputers in the future.

First of all nothing in this world is 100% safe

In 2011 NASA got hacked 13 time.!!
Even pentagon was hacked

See there's no single person who controls bitcoins it has a decentralised nature so there's no single target to hack

I believe its safe not 100% but ya safer than any bank for online transactions

Yes I agree with you sir no one in this online world are 100% safe anything have possible to happen.
Also bitcoin has possible to hack many site there are also hack by the hacker.  So you need to secure your all accounts because if you not do this it is possible to hack your account.

The bitcoin itself wasn't hacked and sort of can't be because of the strong encryption system. So, bitcoin is safe. Users, however, aren't. Some bank can be robbed and so someone's btc can be stolen. I know there are no bitcoin banks but I think you know what I mean when I say they can be stolen from somewhere, because it has already happened about a year ago with that japanese guy Ryota Fujii. However, even he didn't steal btc as I can see now, he just bought a lot using stolen money.

you should not ask to yourself this question to choose bitcoin over fiat you should ask this question

is bitcoin more safer than my bank account? the answer is probably yes, therefore i see no reason to hold my funds in a ambiance where everything is controlled and full of fee and with more risk
that is right , the question is more clear with your version ,
anything managed by third party never be a good thing include banking system ,
bitcoin gives you full access/full control over your money ,
it is form of freedom and best security system in your hands.

bitcoin system is completely safe but not to extend of 100 % , you have to do something on your own to protect your money , follow all security major from cold \secure wallet with using very strong signature keys and password for a big amount of bitcoin .

The only scenarios I can think of right now that would make Bitcoin unsafe are worldwide electricity/internet failure and internet censorship. These are the only ways we could get Bitcoin banned and the price would fall to <10$ most probably. Otherwise it's safe, secure, anonymous. At least this is what we know.

The decentralized nature of Bitcoin ensures that there's no single target to hack and the blockchain itself makes sure that no double spending is done but in all this we cannot conclude that it is hack proof as history tells us that some bug issues caused a single person to generate 184 million bitcoins in 2010 when the actual block reward was just 50. Even though the problem was fixed within 5 hours and that's the only major security flaw of Bitcoin since then I wouldn't say it's 100% safe as we are still in the testing phase and anything can happen.

Bitcoin is a piece of code, and all of this is public. If any part of the code/protocol gets hacked, a patch can be applied to rectify the mistake. As one of the members already indicated, this happened once before and it was quickly picked up and rectified.

The incentive to hack the protocol would be stupid for two reasons :

~ If some major hack is identified, the price will collapse and the owner of these coins, will have received almost zero
   gain for his effort.
~ Any hacked coins can be nullified with a software change, like what happened with ETH. This is not ideal, but it is a
possible solution for a problem like this.

Service built on top of Bitcoin are way more vulnerable than the protocol it self. Like we have seen with several Bitcoin exchanges being hacked.

Bitcoin is not 100% safe, it just uncover bugs. It's not easy to hack bitcoin, because bitcoin have active community and coder. If community think found bugs, they will release patch asap

In any programs there were really bugs developed and disadvantages, thou developers and users in some way can find solution. For me in terms of securing money and in terms of the transaction Ive used , it all went well so it fine for me. As long it secured my bitcoin ,I will keep on using it.

On the surface the bitcoin seems safe but I am sure there will be problems here and there, and sometimes open the doors for hacking. Look at what happened to MtGox.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the deal with MtGox is that the CEO basically ran off with all the money to Japan? There weren't any hacking as far as that goes

This is speculation. The problem (or the genius, depending on how you look at it) with MtGox's claim was that it was nearly impossible for its users to know if they had in fact been hacked. And even if there were some form of staged attempt, the people who have the technology to make it look like a legitimate hacking are way ahead of the people who may have the technology to prove that it was a staged hack.

How it all happened was just too convenient.
