If you are using an https protocol when making payments with Bitcoin, for example, through web wallets like Coinbase or Xapo, or when you are simply conversing with people, for example, here on Bitcointalk, they cannot do much because the data flow from you is encrypted. And instead of seeing what you are actually doing or saying, they will be collecting digital garbage.

Its definition will differ person to person. For me, bitcoin yet to provide a freedom from my financial crisis.

Yeah you are right every person has his own freedom with bitcoin as for me bitcoin is freedom because I do not need to go to office every morning but I can work any time I want at home and I do not have to attend to any boss but I am my own boss and no one have authority on me.

What do you see with the current status of bitcoin now, we are not controlled by the government and we are not tax. It's the best benefits it can give to us and hope that in the long run the government will not interfere to control the system so we can enjoy more the usage of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a double edged sword , on one side it provides total security so you don't have to worry about your hard earned money getting stolen or your account getting hacked because of the anonymity when using it, unlike bank accounts that ask you for your persona information , and it is very easy and fast to use , no tax unlike the virtual bank accounts that take half of your money, but on the dark side this all provides a perfect environment for hackers and drug dealers to provide their illegal services because that way they can't be traced down

As long as the authorities do not do away with anonymity bitcoin not make it under control, you should not think about the world domination bitcoin. It simply will not allow.

If bitcoin transaction is irreversible then we do not have to think about the time taken by the confirmations and we will know that when a transaction is made then it will then reach to us without any hurdle. The freedom is that when we do not rely on any third party like a person or a company to transmit our money so the witing time for confirmation do not matter.

i think yes up to some how we can consider bitcoin as freedom but as it is not yet so much popular in most of the area and that is the reason that the facilities the bitcoin is providing are not available everywhere, i think bitcoin still need some good advertisement so that people may know about bitcoin.

I guess bitcoin being popular doesnt necessarily mean freedom. I believe that the freedom that the author means is the freedom from banks and having control of your own investment and enjoying the interest from price inflation. But if we look digger would bitcoin mean freedom or just another financial slavery system that in every transactions we need to pay the miners, that even without doing business transactions just a transfer would mean fees. But compared to banks bitcoin is still the best since the fees are very low and interest is harvested by us. I just hope that in near future when bitcoin will replace the banks the fees will not climb up like it is now, if it is then everything is useless.

And I don't mean just another shit coin with a similar name. What concerns Bitcoin disadvantages and deficiencies, confirmation times could be effectively brought to nought by using payment processors. For example, transferring bitcoins from one account to another in Coinbase web wallet is almost instant. I guess basically the same could be done with purchases, and Bitcoin payment cards seem to be doing exactly that. Irreversibility is another issue that I don't quite like myself. Personally, I would opt for a grace period (defaulting to 0) within which the transaction can be revoked, but that is not top priority among Bitcoin developers, obviously
