You sound like one of those people in the 90's claiming the internet was just a fad and would soon disappear.

No, internet is fine, but Myspace was a product (or investment object) that failed. Blockchain is a fine technology, but Bitcoin is also just a product/investment object that will fail.

The death of bitcoin has been predicted countless times over the past several years. And yet it keeps rising again and again, showing strength. And besides, consumer is king. It is the consumer who will continue to keep bitcoin thriving.

when if something better comes around

Fixed it for you. So far Bitcoin is leading the adoption and development race and is much closer to have a solution to scaling issues than any of its competitors. If someone does invent some snazzy new idea, it also has the best developers to implement it first. So the risk of Bitcoin being supplanted is quite remote.

Nothing is going to last forever, eventually, Google might die down. But in my belief, it will be a long time, because if the differences it has made in many peoples lives.
It still has much more potential to grow as companies and governments are just starting to accept the fact that this is the future of the world and they need to embrace it early on.

Myspace had 500 million users who believed in it. Their belief drive the value up.

Then came facebook - and Myspace was totally abandoned and the value of the "belief" dropped like a stone

Bitcoin is the same - when something better comes around, belief will crumble and Bitcoin will be abandoned like Myspace and investors will have zero value. And Bitcoin will indeed be abandoned as it has again and again proven itself completely useless for large-scale practical applications.

then ? what do you think is right? we all know, anything created by humans can all be destroyed at any time. true bitcoin can be replaced with a better future in the future. but in fact, until now bitcoin has survived for more than a decade and continues to grow. this proves that bitcoin can not be considered as simple as that you say.

Bitcoin as a peer to peer network is hard to bring down. As long as people are willing to use it, bitcoin is staying for good. We should remember that it is only in its early stages of development and there is an increasing number of people getting involved in it. Bitcoin, being open source adds flexibility to the system. I think the concept of cryptocurrency in general, will never be abandoned. I believe that bitcoin will only pave the way to a much more advanced medium of exchange that the future society needs.  Wink

Everyone does know that bitcoin though it is at the top of the cruptocurrency market that it can still be overtaken at some point. However, as of now the only thing that comes close is still far off and that is saying a lot. Yes, bitcoin might be overtaken but I don’t see anything wrong on continuing to inves on it as the saying goes we should strike while the iron is hot and nothing is kore hotter now than bitcoin and if we keep it that way we can continue to do this

That is correct - no coin will. That is also why people who say the "diversify" by buying altcoins are deluding themselves.

Ask ourselves if Facebook would be that popular now than Myspace if it didn't provide the better needs to the public in social terms. They're both social media sites and MySpace dried out after Facebook gained so much users. Consider also Friendster that closed few years ago. These social sites closed because it didn't provide the better interface that will likely be the satisfaction of the user and also interaction by the way. So how does this apply to Bitcoin? Bitcoin isn't perfect, but through time it gets innovation in the network. We got Lightning Network. More than those innovation, we're still in the gathering of adoption yet aiming to the full adoption of it in the future. This  phenomena that Bitcoin will dry out like Myspace in the future is still a bit debatable. We had not yet reached the full stage of development and I'm being optimistic to say that it will get more development than that. The whole point I'm trying to say here is the spontaneous changes of Bitcoin through its development without losing its purpose to be a currency while also at the same time it gains adoption and attention. Maybe Bitcoin is really the Facebook and fiat currency is the MySpace or it could be opposite. If Bitcoin will dry out anyway in the future, some digital coin will surely replace it. We still have the purpose of having a digital money for convenience and Bitcoin failed to be the better entity from that replacing coin but hey we still got what we need right?

Point is noted, but it might be closer to compare, say, PoW to PoS or DAG.

First and foremost you are comparing social media sites to an economic revolution which is a dumb thing to do, if bitcoin is abandoned i can tell you that the entire market will close down, if bitcoin cannot sustain the long run, then no coin will, there are developers working to improve it and you are telling that it will die because there will be another technology that will come with a better technology,if bitcoin goes down then nothing will sustain.

"When" is the wrong word here - there are numerous examples of products and companies being around for decades despite the competition - Google, Microsoft, Intel and so on.
In reality there's actually very small chance that Bitcoin will be abandoned in the observable future, because it is in fact the best coin - it's developed by hundreds of contributors, many of whom are experts in their field, unlike small groups of mediocre programmers behind most altcoins. Bitcoin is also driving innovation like Lightning Network, while altcoin projects design centralized systems with many flaws that they just ignore.

The companies that have been around for decades actually produce goods or services that can be used. They do not provide a fiction for people to "HODL". BTC has shown again and again that it does not practically work for anything

OP looks like a butthurt troll to me. What’s the matter, did you find out about bitcoin too late & can’t afford to buy in now? Are you an early adopter who had the chance to be rich but sold way too early & now you can’t look in the mirror without hating yourself?

If you hate bitcoin so much & don’t think it has any future then why don’t you fuck off & spend your time more productively doing something you enjoy elsewhere.

Typical reactions in here. You bitcoin fans are exactly like a brainwashed religious cult - you start whining and crying whenever there is information that does not match your view. But you may want to read up on how it went to the cult members following Jim Jones to Guyana - and consider where the cult of Bitcoin will take your money.....
