Bitcoin still lead in market capitalization in the crypto currency market and still dominate virtual currency. That is the main reason why a small movement in bitcoin price affect all other alternate currencies.

For the next few years Bitcoin will still dominate because for now people still believe in Bitcoin, although the last few weeks of Bitcoin down, it makes sense because Bitcoin is pumped too high by the end of last year, and is likely to return to the highest level Bitcoin prices will be back at early next month.

If Bitcoin prices passes the 15K, then all the money and all the investors will return to Bitcoin to maximize their earnings. After that, Bitcoin price will go higher and higher as it did last year.

Agree with you, now more and more people joining in bitcoin.
Big investor still looking the bitcoin price now and waiting for the best time to enter. Now its very hard to goes up but if the price reach 15k again, no doubt it will continue to rise.

I remember I read this last year, that a certain Australian financial adviser said that investing in altcoins is a good idea (that was when the time that bitcoin was slowly going down)..

I think many investors really heeded into that advice. That is good though in the cryptocurrency world but I believe also that when the price of bitcoin will again bounce back to all-time high, investors will go back to investing to bitcoin.

Overall, bitcoin is still the king of all coins and it is the base currency to majority of traders.

Yes, I feel that Bitcoin will still be the dominant virtual currency in 2018 and thereafter. The price dip now is just temporary and will recover soon.

What might become a problem is that a few shops have already removed bitcoin as a payment option.
But right now bitcoin is still dominant when it comes to trading pairs at exchanges.
For everybody who owns crypto currencies it should not be difficult to exchange bitcoin against another crypto currency that might be accepted.

Bitcoin still has the biggest merchant network and user base that are currently using the currency. Most Alt coins are used to

speculate and then converted to BTC or Fiat, because it has ZERO use case or merchants accepting it. This network will just

increase, because Bitcoin is decentralized, has no single authority and it is trusted and proven.  Cheesy

A lot of the other Alt coins are just complex pump n dump scams.  Roll Eyes

In the past two weeks, Bitcoin prices have been steadily declining, while smaller virtual currencies such as Ripple, Stellar and Tron have risen sharply in price and capitalization.

Erik Voorhees, CEO of ShapeShift Digital Asset Management, said Bitcoin dominated the deal on the floor a year ago but now more than half are trading in other currencies.

Still, some analysts say Bitcoin will continue to benefit from investors' growing interest in alternative (Altcoin) alternatives. They point out that because it is the largest virtual currency, Bitcoin is often chosen by investors when entering the market.
Yes,I think bitcoin is still the dominant cryotocurrency. It is not fair to compare bitcoin With ripple or other cryotocurrencies.Bitcoin price was in the downtrend at the beginning of every year,so this year also it is in down fall.Soon the price of bitcoin will bump like what happened in 2017.

In my opinion, bitcoin is still become a high grade virtual currency in this year. Despite of the decrease of price in the last couple weeks, it has no effect on the "persona" of the bitcoin itself, especially on new-user in crypto.

I think it's temporary. By the end of the year the etherium will exceed by capitalization.

I think everyone who will invest in cryptocurrency the first seen by investors is bitcoin, then they choose altcoin as the second investment place. Because the common people more familiar with bitcoin in the appeal of other virtual currencies. And ever since I see price movements of cryptocurrency just some altcoins doesn't have decreased if bitcoin prices decrease. Therefore bitcoin has the power as the first coin and still lead in investment place and higher price.

Bitcoin is currently the most powerful virtual currency, but has recently dropped bitcoin. I think the bitcoin market is already saturated. Supply and demand are equal. In the future, bitcoin prices will not increase as much as other altcoins. ethereum prices are growing fast, i think ethereum time again, prices will be very high and may be equal to bitcoin prices.

Yes in fact that it will be the slowly accelerating of the number of investors that will follow each other on where to invest now. Bitcoin has dropped a lot and there were a lot of panic-sellers but since it is a really strong currency it didn't dip below 10k. It just stayed between 10k to 12k as of now, but this is just a bit of adjustment and it will pass by it in the next month. The regulation could prove few scares to investors causing them to withdraw it all, but the knowledgeable investors will never ever sell their Bitcoins just because of it. They will see the bright side of those. Bitcoin is being the one now to represent how easier the transactions will be in the future. The future of Bitcoin isn't yet seen in a clear image, but I'm gonna guess that it will just normal, not good nor bad.

Of course BTC is still the dominant crypto coin and will remain that way for the time being. When the rise and fall of BTC directly affects the rise and fall of other coins including altcoins, that proves the strength and dominance of BTC. In future one of the lesser coins like ETH or a privacy coin may surpass BTC but that is a long long time from now.

Bitcoin is still dominant because it is still the expensive crypto currency.Every year the price of bitcoin is falling at the beginning of the years so this may heppening this year also. But the price will increase in the coming days and will prove its dominance over its competitors.
The main reason for the crypto currency fall is happening due to the regulation of crypto currencies in most of the countries so investprs are confused still their government will ban or legalize bitcoin. So it may take some time for all the conditions to be setteled.I hope the price will increse from March of 2018.

Bitcoin has not just fallen back in trading. It has fallen back in merchant adoption. This year is critical IMO. Either Bitcoin wins back all the merchants and keeps the commercial infrastructure it has built up, or another coin steals the crown.

In my opinion, Bitcoin is the most dominant currency with roughly a 35% market cap dominance over the entire cryptocurrency market cap. I would not be surprised if other alt-coins surpass the market cap of bitcoin within the next few years.

Bitcoin price might be declining but comparing its price to other digital currency its price is very far.  So it just shows that bitcoin is a good way to invest.  It is a sure investment.  Bitcoin has grow a lot and even if its price went down its price is still higher compared to its price before.
