It definitely is far infront of the older payment tools, but the financial world in its current form is too powerfull to allow Bitcoin to take over.
And btw.... We don't need Bitcoin to take over everything, it's a great alternative already, so no need to wait, use it now!!

I couldn't agree more with this.
Bitcoin's slow adoption is nothing to do with its tech, it's to do with resistance from regulatory, bank and financial entities.
It will slowly eat its way into the markets those things currently control and eventually be accepted even by them.
And yes, we don't need it to take over everything (ever or soon), and we can use it preferentially right now.

To be honest i had to think first what this graphic should show. I thought maybe it's an advertisement for a new service, then i read the text under the image and thought it has to show why bitcoin is good. But then i couldn't see what it has to do with TV and so.
Only after that i saw that these are three different development lines.
I think if possible that should be seen instantly. It's not so good when you first have to see all small images and have to relate them together to find out what the big picture is about.

Ya, I like the picture but I also thought it was one line instead of three different development lines. I would have put a cheque book after the newspaper, because I mistakenly thought the whole image was time frame related from top left to bottom right.

Fax is still used in the industry, but of course it's use cases are niche and marginal now. I don't think anyone will be using it in a decade tho. Maybe there will always be people using it sometimes tho, just like some people still use the traditional postal mail.
I still use fax. Its faster and cheaper than sending a letter. And scanning documents to send them by email is often time consuming too. At least i often have trouble with my printer losing it's IP or so. Didn't find the time to find the problem yet.
So yes, fax is still in use.
Edit: Oh, and you get a report from sending. I don't know though if such report would be worth something at court. Maybe yes when the police can check if you really called at that time.

I like it. Easy to understand which way evolution goes. I would like to add some more examples which I have found on reddit.

The Graphic is awesome but it would make more sense if the logo was replaced by cryptocurrency as bitcoin may not be the best coin for the mainstream because of conformation times etc. So Cryptocurrencies are the natural step but bitcoin can always be edited for the need

this was obvious wasn't it? but there are still plenty of people that are watching television, so even in the remote case that bitcoin will be successful and adopted everywhere you will always find people that will use their credit and debit card

There is also still people that are using cash when there is credit and debit cards. Evolution doesn't mean that everybody is switching over at once.
People also still send letters and use the fax. Newspapers are also still printed (although, this may be fading out slowly).
It's easy to say this now but only time will tell whether it will happen. You could substitute bitcoin for other digital wallets like Applepay or whatever that still use fiat money. Sadly I just can't see the general public having much of a use for bitcoin compared to the other things like email etc.

I find this analogy surprisingly accurate. I was expecting something more deluded along the lines of 'bitcoin is headed to the moon'. All older media in the other two comparisons are being used at the same time as their successors. Which to me seems perfectly realistic for bitcoin as we're getting signs of it already happening to a decent extent.

I guess what we have today in terms of virtual reality is just too far from what we are aiming to achieve. Given the limitations of our computational power, it would be really hard to 'simulate' with enough resolution and authenticity the tidbits of reality and all its complexities with our current computers.
Sure, we could pump more pixels into screens, and draw more polygons, but things still end up looking like a game.. To render stuff that looks real in real-time is still quite far off. And that's just the aesthetics, the mechanics would require more computing power too. I guess for some things like fluid dynamics, we already have really good real-time sims of these, but the object interactivity simulation is still really quite a hard thing to do.
