Well, that's kind of the $10,000 question (pun intended). I'm guessing we're either going back down quite a bit, because if you take a look at the weekly bitcoin chart you will realize how parabolic we are going but I'm keeping my options open. Something else I've noticed is that, according to bitcoinwisdom.com we haven't hit $10K on the three major exchanges yet (those being Bitfinix, Bitstamp and Coinbase).
What's next?
Operation Dragonslayer.
Bitcoin Core will be taken down by the superior real Bitcoin (cash).
I genuinely can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not  Huh.

kwukduck I love how you can say always some negative things even in the face of greatest bitcoin ATH.
Last time I checked I saw that people are selling Bitcoin Cash to buy Bitcoin - it is happening right now.
While Bitcoin rose 5% in the past 24h at the same Bitcoin cash dropped 4%.
I begin to suspect that you are the biggest bitcoin holder here and your negativity is only an elaborate ruse to make people sell coins, so you could buy cheap BTC.

As you can see in the screenshot below Bitcoin just hit 10K:

So, what do you think the price is going to do? How long will it take for Bitcoin to hit 15K, or maybe 20K, or perhaps to you expect Bitcoin to correct and start going down?

I now expect a sharp correction wave after I read some technical analysis on twitter. And then another steady rise period will begin that will take bitcoin to above of $20.000 kind of price.

Of course there will be a fall after a rise but I don't think it will happen this year, maybe next year. Can't really wait for 2018, I feel that more good thing will happen next year and obviously we will see a higher price and more popular btc.

The price of bitcoin has been going up and up and now the 10 000 $ mark has been reached! I couldn't help but I think a serious correction will be coming, the price can't continue to go up. Like always, bitcoin price is very difficult to predict, so we will need to wait and see.

The global price is over $10k, but seeing as how we're talking about $10k in USD it doesn't really count until the USD markets break $10k since that is where the psychological barrier is, for non-USD markets its just another random dollar value. But yes the global price is now valued in the 5 digits in USD.

Anyway, what's next...$20k i guess. Maybe in April.

Things will get interesting when USD exchanges start hitting the $10,000 level for the first ever time. From that point we'll know how the market responds to that level, and then we'll either go up further, or fall back and correct for a short time. I still haven't secured any of my profits and will likely not do so any time soon. I have had enough patience to hold all the way till now, so an extra few months won't hurt either. It's clear the the USD markets (currently hovering around $9950) are quite conservative when it comes to that extra little push, because they know that little push might trigger a massive wave of sellers.

I'm very torn. My heart would like the price of the bitcoin to go up, but my mind is telling me that it is time for price correction. I think in what direction it will go, we will find out in 24h - max 48h

Let's wait for the big Western exchanges to all be over that before it's finally declared.

It means nothing to most of the world and we can see that as they've already blown past it. It appears to mean more than I expected to USD traders.

As an aside, why is Bitstamp considered the price everyone waits for?
Bitstamp is the price Mycelium quotes,  so that's the one I generally go by--which is strange because I must've been asleep if bitcoin hit $10k.  It's been in the $9000s ever since I woke up this morning.  After $10k, we'll probably get another correction, and then after that (hopefully) we'll get to $15k.

The world has started to catch on that bitcoin might have something to it, you know?  It's hard to ignore a bull market this powerful, even for the skeptics and die hard bears.

The rise of Bitcoin is inevitable and it is still going to continue way above some levels that are completely unexpected but there might be some rebound near $9500 level (or I think that it has already been slipped there) and now recovering to over $9900. The main place according to Fibonacci is 11639 and after it breaks, 12890 and 14650 are the most important targets. I believe we are only going up and there's no downturn this time for Bitcoins.

I think 10k$ is the highest price for this time, maybe it'll dump to 9k$ then will rise back again Smiley). This drama has been replayed many times and I think this time will be the same with it was before Smiley). The whales will try to dump the price of Bitcoin then buy it back at lower price to get more profit Cheesy
I concur. The new floor would be $9000 and it will stabilize in between $9000 and $10000 (more or less). Whales pumping and dumping a little bit then pump.is the new trend for them. They do accumulate a lot of bitcoins and money alike by doing so.

Agreed. The correction shouldn't be too steep. 10% sounds like it's in the ballpark of a nice stable area. Whales will be trying to drop the price right now as many people have probably already sold at 10k. We'll see them pumping again when we hit a lower milestone, maybe around 9,500 or 9,000. Regardless, I think the overall support for bitcoin right now is too strong to make room for a drop that's more than under 9,000 for the price of btc.

my speculation is for a touch of volatility as the buy/sell orders
are sorted out followed by a bit of a correction and then another
rise, this is kind of how it goes ?

My expectation is that there will be a lot of volatility but not a crash, at least not yet. There will most likely be profit takers but Bitcoin is getting so many new investors and attracting so much attention, that I think overall there will be a continued rise for a while. With any investment such as stocks or cryptocurrencies, there will be corrections and periodically there will also be crashes, but I just don’t see that quite yet with Bitcoin, but I’m no expert.
