But is that so far have been born several competitors and offer the same advantages or qualities similar to bitcoin, I think the only way that this happens is that the demand is increasingly lower.

am i the only who is worried that bitcoin might be like IBM we have seen it before one product controls a market then a competitor comes in and the previous king is left in the dust
ERA of IBM came to an end since the launching of new companies  in the market. People started to purchase other products rather than IBM. But no one can still replace bitcoin. I believe bitcoin will up again we have to wait and hold our bitcoins. Always think positive for bitcoin. It will survive for sure.

IBM is somehow like of blockchain in terms in technology but with no company related in it. Since IBM is a technolgy based it is necessary to fall due to more advance tech like blockchain, cryptos being a transaction medium like bitcoin still have a long way to prove its identity with the help of blockchain since bitcoin beng the primary crypto can still be used by more companies or products.

The possibility is there as even right now there are cryptocurrencies that are better than Bitcoin already, Monero is more anonymous than BTC, XRP has faster transaction speeds compared to BTC, however they are defeated to BTC as it is the most popular cryptocurrency out there. What I am seeing is that Bitcoin will be surely replace by another cryptocurrency but it will take a long time to do so as a lot of people are still going to buy what is the most popular and that is Bitcoin. Bitcoin's days are numbered we just need more people to get familiar in the cryptocurrency market.

You are correct, there are really a lot of coins out there that are really way above and better than bitcoin, but it doesn't mean that they can easily take over the lead and replace bitcoin simply because more people still 'trust' it.

But if investors see's otherwise, or new coins born and suddenly we see shifts in terms of money, then bitcoin will be overtaken, the questions is that are there coins that can make investors move out of bitcoin? I doubt it.

I don't think so. Bitcoin pole position is certainly sizeable as it is more than twice the size of its closest challenger Ethereum, three times as larger as Ripple, and mostly dwarfs any crypto in 5th place or lower.
Just by looking at these numbers, it seems unlikely and difficult for any crypto outside the top 4 do make a serious bid for the first place in the next few years. The main reason is simply because they need to catch up so much territory in just a short time.

That is really off the box thinking I would say. This is not the way the bitcoin is working now a days. It was made with blockchain technology to synch peer to peer transactions and get out of the limits of banking system. There is no such system that exist today except the Swift tech that is used in the banking system.

The correlation is kind of differs here. The bitcoin tech is something unique and moreover it is decentralised so no one can really interfere with and may not try to create other tech like that. IBM and stuff was easy to copy and paste but the blockchain is not.

Is that a bad thing? Bitcoin helped build the fundamentals and attract many developers to the crypto scene.

If bitcoin was going to be the king forever, development would have seriously halted imo.

Whenever any Altcoin has more potential, attracting more investors will be the winner. But I think this is unlikely because Bitcoin is now a king, not a breakthrough in technology, or superior to Altcoin. It became the king because it was the most valuable Altcoin in crypto and was most widely known, and was used by all.

IBM is international business machine and I am very sure that BTC could never be like IBM because BTC is quite different from other cryptocurrency and it has that potential that it can bring modernization and specially in India, it can fulfill the dream of DIGITAL india. BTC has provided employment to millions of people and moreover the concept of BTC is quite innovative that it has been accepted by the entire world, so according to me BTC is the future.

I think the metaphor is not just a single, because the technology behind the bitcoin: blockchain has received recognition from all countries, so the bitcoin and blockchain is inseparable, i think the only valuable digital currency is the bitcoin.

this is life and economics, competition rules the market, if bitcoin will not be strong enough it will be defeated with competitors. This could happen with everything not only bitcoin.
so my concern is that bitcoin cant stand the pressure from competition and fold
Bitcoin can stand, that's why until now bitcoin is the king of all coins and number one in cryptocurrency. Competition is normal in market, there is always rise and fall in economy. Since bitcoin is part of it, we can't assure that everyday bitcoin is always good but somehow, we must trust the way bitcoin built.

That is a normal thing. You know how the top athletes like to say that that staying on the top is the real challenge. You have to watch your competitors and evolve.
Bitcoin is actually doing it quite well, the community is already working on adopting smart contracts for example. But, yes, if Bitcoin will be slower in evolving then its competitors it will be abandoned (Napster or WinMX anybody, Netscape?) and rightfully so. Abandoned but never forgotten I think. However, Bitcoin has a nice head start, I think that others still have a way to go in at least catching up.

IBM was bought out by a chinese firm and is now rebranded as "Lenovo". Anything with the Lenovo trademark on it is what used to be IBM.

Discussing what led to IBM's downfall would make for an interesting discussion. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone here knows what circumstances led to its demise.

IBM was killed by the personal computer and Microsoft's user friendly software for the PC. IBM didn't understand that households and businesses might want to own PCs.

In particular they didn't understand that people wanted user friendly operating systems. They thought computing would be controlled by expert users who would be able to type in commands in various computing languages.

Bill Gates insight was that people wanted to just click an icon and trigger the commands without needing to know the languages.

So OP's analogy is a good one. Bitcoin is still too complicated for users to understand and they struggle with the wallets etc. Whereas coins like Steem are intuitive in that you send and receive from names, just as in email, rather than from huge strings of numbers and letters.

You are not the one who thinks in this mate, actually it will i think. For me bitcoin is like the internet Explorer in 1995 and look at now,  many has a competitors. I think that bitcoin will go down inthe future and other cryptocurrencies will gain and bloom its name to replace bitcoin. Investors are there to who what is new and good ti them. They not loyal as to one coin

This how we progress. Every time a better product comes to eliminate the previous one even if it conquered the market for period.
