I'm not too bothered now - I'm along the startup path for Easy Bitcoin Mining. It will be a handy reference site for old specs and manuals if I can find them.

@Dig Bicks have you tried contacting the mods who are assigned for the moderation of that board directly to get an explanation as to why the posts get deleted or moved? Moderators: gmaxwell, -ck, frodocooper

You probably don't need to contact gmaxwell since other section moderated by him isn't over-moderated.

Frodocooper is probably the best one to contact, I was told he did a lot of the overmoderation.

Over-moderated? Yes. inner circle? No, i made few posts there but never deleted & i saw very few newcomers posts aren't deleted.
Yeah i am Completely agree with you. If newcomers posts meet the criteria of mining section then there's no problem with that. But i think those post were deleted by moderators which actually got no connections with mining related topics. Otherwise i think there's no reason to over moderate that section specially.

Its really necessary for our new users to realize that moderators are here to help us as a guard of those sections. Whatever they do its just for keeping those section effective. There's no way to think that they will discourage newcomers by over moderation. So its better to check before posting a thread on any section that its fair or not.

It’s definitely a heavily moderated section, but many people make posts about altcoin mining that are regularly removed.
+1 to this, questions like mining profitability, where to sell used asic, how to create mining farms and so on are asked million times, they get answers million times, can't see anything wrong if you answer but don't get angry when such threads got deleted, it's because section is spammed with same topics.
I think it's good, wish other sections like bitcoin discussion, altcoin discussion and etc would be so moderated because here are insane questions asked which is a shame.

Isn't that a good thing if the board is under serious moderation? At least we still have one of the few boards,  quality conversation can be associated with. The strict moderation is driving away spammers and scammers and  other moderators should make the boards they're moderatoring more spam free as the mining board is. Instead of complaining lets encourage them they're doing their jobs well.

It's also driving a lot of other users away from posting there because of the at least heavy moderation. L

It’s definitely a heavily moderated section, but many people make posts about altcoin mining that are regularly removed.

I'd argue when I had issues with that board, the heavy moderation turned into unreasonable moderation and people telling me to flog the dead horse of a thread that already existed there and said "if a thread is spammy, post there and stop it from being" and I'm still not sure that made any sense. I mean it can't change the previous pages of a thread.

It's clear those mods are trying to keep themselves in employment and keep a low profile around the rest of the forum to show how "great" their board is... Even stackoverflow has less harsh rules.

There are so many threads about their destructive moderation, that if they were interested in helping Bitcoin Talk members with their mining, then they would have commented, or have "moderated" their own behaviour.

Their attitude is one of the reasons that Bitcoin Talk is slipping into becoming a forum with a primary function as an employment bureau for non-crypto posters promoting products they don't understand or use.

I agree. I've spoken to several people that have posted there and had their posts deleted. Not shitposts either.

Moderation seems to be bit over the top there.

[NOTE] Dig Bicks is not an alt of mine, and we do not have any associations other than this thread.

I agree with his sentiment, and it is a sadness to me that beginners can't take advantage of the knowledge there. In fact the moderation is so bad, that I had to create an alternative forum at Easy Bitcoin Mining. There are a number of topics that it is almost impossible to discuss in this forum. These are -

- Hobby mining
- Starting mining as a beginner
- Off grid mining as a nomad
- Vintage mining equipment
- Urban mining ( looking through scrap hard drives).

All of those are of interest to me, hence my need to start a site to consolidate the information. It is particularly difficult to find user guides and specifications of vintage mining kit, and maybe I will start to create a library. Any submissions will be received gratefully.

Perhaps the mining subforum could use some sort of "General Mining" related section which would be more loosely moderated and be kind of the proving ground area? If quality content is produced there that belongs in the other sections it can always be moved there. It seems each section is so specific there is not a general mining related area. I understand the need to require tight moderation on a technical sub-forum, this might allow all parties to operate more cohesively.
Yes, perhaps this is the best solution to attract some active General discussion in the mining  board, I have seen much peoples quality and on topic posts deleted which just kills the discussion on some threads. But your suggestion about just adding a General discussion sub board for a common discussion on subjects which overlap the Bitcoin and altcoin mining discussion would be a great alternative or solution to this problem. Shocked

You could see much of criticism on the mods of the mining board to delete on topic posts.

Also some trusted member feel the same!

Stuff the mining boards

Why was this post deleted?

And much more..

I think there should be some more accurate section for such type of post or at least it should be explained.

Don't even bother posting in the mining section unless your in their inner circle.  Posts just end up getting deleted.
Example? I love blanket statements but others may choose not to believe your claim until there is sufficient evidence.

Well, that sounds like a good thing if the section is properly moderated. I will not fuss much over it.
Me too, and the reason why it seems so it down to the fact that some users who hardly understand what mining is all about in the first place simply go ahead to post or reply without fully understanding what they themselves wrote.
I must agree that it's strictly moderated, but it's not bad it is

I dont see anything wrong with that. After all, its for the miners and most, if not all of the deleted posts are from quota-fillers or simply those who post for the sake of posting.

That's pretty much good to see a forum section that's over moderated because leaving the forum for spammers who always post unnecessarily replies or do post off-topic are to be moderated like that of Bitcoin Mining section.

Jet Cash created a thread about that section recently of a deleted thread which was intend to help beginners on mining process. Take a look at the thread for his concerns over that section of this forum. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/stuff-the-mining-boards-5110182

Depends on what you want to know about mining. There is a large base of knowledge there already, including the stickies.

Then if you are still lost either create a topic or find a reasonable thread to ask in. I've seen tons of newbies still receive support, then once the question has been sufficiently answered they do tend to get locked. Just try to pick the right board, but if not it will usually get moved.

I am really not have enough knowledge about mining,so if I want to ask any queries I have to go to beginners section or to mining?

Because I can see that most of the threads were locked even at the very first page and where we are not seeing much people were posting there.

Moderators on that section are enough careful to remove thread if needed. Maybe your post was repetitive there or subject of the thread didn't meet the criteria for that section.

I would be curios to find out this inner circle you speak of.

I can't think of 1 person who posts there regularly that hasn't had posts deleted/modified.  Perhaps you have some examples of clear over moderation you could provide. I can only really think of 1 case that makes no sense to me.

Also not the first thread created about this, maybe you want to just find one of those and bump it.
