Currently, fashionable movies are those apocalypse related, end of the world and mankind.
With an idea that zombies are not the cause of the end of the world and some brief history including Bitcoin, it would be a really box-office success. And when you make a movie, everything is possible, Bitcoin could be some kind of hero, savior in those ending times.

nice idea, but who take the initiative?  Tongue

Depends if such a thing would be profitable enough.
You want to test it? Put this project on Kickstarter, then you can find out if people are interested in Bitcoin Movie or not. I personally think of it as a brilliant idea.
We have so many bitcoin documentary movies already. I would watch feature film with pleasure story of bitcoin is interesting as it is, and with little spicing it could be really good entertainment.
The only problem is that bitcoin rather niche market, and movie based of story of it would be rather not popular. I am afraid it is too early for bitcoin movie, but maybe in couple of years people will be ready for it.

"Rise & Rise of BTC" is great, but left off during the huge value peak in 2013.

You cant expect movie will tell you story of what happened yesterday. It takes some time this movies get edited. I am sure many movies are shoot right now.

Is it a documentary film? I think any hollywood film with a wonderful segment of Bitcoin will be the best way for the world to re-recognize Bitcoin, even just a few seconds. It is better than a whole movie for Bitcoin, because the audidence maybe only the ones who have known Bitcoin, however, it is unnecessary for them to view this kind of movies again.

This would be epic!

If they went fictional it could have a sort of matrix feel to it, Satoshi would be Neo OFC.

Face it, we all hate it, but the Paycoin / Garza story has it all!

So, this movie will be a documentary movie? I don't like this kind of movie so much, cause I can't understand it. And this movie is about BTCitcoin, so it will be hard to understand Huh

I was thinking more of a drama movie. You'd have to fill in and and add creative twists to it, especially concerning Satoshi since we don't know much(anything) about him/them/her. It'd be like those movies based off a true story.

I'd love to know how you make a movie that will inevitably be set almost entirely on the internet (or dark web in the case of SR). Has any movies like this already been made? Can't imagine some geek sat at his computer clicking on a keyboard will be very exciting.

You could argue that The Social Network is largely Internet-based, but it has non-Internet stuff happening as well. It's just a matter of what you focus on.

That was more looking at the drama of the beginnings. Most of it didn't actually concern the website but all the trouble surrounding it.

That's kind of my point. A movie about the technical features of Bitcoin would be rather boring and short, or it might become a lecture. If you want a movie that attracts the masses, you need a story.

It's better to make this a documentary than a movie.

there is already one good documentary that talk about the history of bitcoin

the Rise and Rise of Bitcoin, it is a very well made documentary about bitcoin, i recommend it

nice idea i love it, and i really think that soon or later someone will do it, the movie will have lot of content.

the problem is, how will end that movie? and who rolled the movie? because i dont want that ppl who dont like the BTC world do it, you know...

It's better to make this a documentary than a movie.

not a bad idea too, both ideas are ok for me Smiley

I would like a great documentary, better than what we have now, but there are tons of documentaries of Bitcoin being worked on at the moment. An actual live action move would be great. The social network made Facebook a great deal of advertisement.

By the looks of it he's thinking a Hollywood blockbuster so it'll be the story of bitcoin or a 'based on true story' type drama.

Anyone else think Bitcoin's history is perfect for a blockbuster movie?

. Satoshi releases bitcoin (Satoshi's face would never be revealed) --2008ish
. We then go into the lives of the first bitcoiners, Gavin Anderson, Hal Finney, etc --2008 to 2009
. Satoshi leaves Bitcoin unexpectedly and we go into a period where the rest of the bitcoiners have to cope with his leaving --2010
. We then follow Gavin Anderson working on Bitcoin and meeting the CIA --2010
. Mark Karpeles and Charlie Shrem are introduced(BitInstant and MtGox) --2010 to 2012
. The plot revolves around these characters trying to uplift Bitcoin and get adoption, such as making the TBF --2012 to 2013
. However, things go awry when Charlie Shrem is charged by the Feds -- 2013
. Bitcoin's current ATH occurs in November 2013 as the price peaks at $1200 per coin, now the movie gets social and we see them celebrating, etc 2013
. MtGox falls under along with Mark Karpeles --2014
. A large amount of companies gain interest in Bitcoin and start accepting it ---2014
. The Bitcoin Foundation falls and Gavin Anderson and other developers go to work for MIT labs --2015
. The movie ends with the Hard Fork for increased blocksize going through and cheers to the revolutionary future of Bitcoin
. The ending credits show the future of Bitcoin, it becomes a standard currency and largely accepted around the world --2020+

That's my thoughts on the first Bitcoin movie. A 2nd one would feature Satoshi Nakamoto's life(face revealed), what led him/them to create bitcoin, the actual creation of Bitcoin, it's release, and the ending would be a cliffhanger on what Satoshi did after leaving in 2010.

All of that would be pure speculatiom though as we do not know who Satoshi is, his motives for creating Bitcoin or what he is upto right now.

'the fifth estate' about wikileaks was done nicely. I think a bitcoin movie could be just like that. Or go all fictional and add some big explosions and wild car chases in sanfransisco where the protagonist apparently just happened to be Tongue
