I'd have to see the entire article, but....as these type of coverage usually goes, they mention BTC as the brand-name concept, then quickly move on to alts like ripple systems like MPESA, ideas like applepay and google wallet...

they will mention winklevii, and that other bitcoin fund that should appear on wall st. soon. they might mention VC money thats going into the economy.

its all pretty light news, and if you read this forum, old news too.

the takeaway from these sort of articles is usually; some form of digital payments system is coming, they all have problems right now, but bigger players are making serious moves, wait a few years and you will see which one comes out on top.

they say "bitcoin" in the headline to grab your attention, appeal to the curious, but they rarely endorse bitcoin itself.

that's just been my experience of reading mainstream news articles on the subject. I cant read that imigur so i dont know what this one says. but i'd wager i'm pretty much spot on here.

always the same predictable shit.

Yeah and if you read the first page there it has a Naysayers post on the right and a suposedly pro-bitcoin stance on the left stating "Don't judge bitcoin on its early, inevitable problems", not really a "true" pro-bitcoin stance at first glance IMO.

Unless of course the pro-bitcoin argument states the early adoption and price volatility just make it "early" in the bitcoin scene, which could then be construed as a true pro-bitcoin stance on the left.

Thank you for links,

@op This is definetly positive press exposure for bitcoin, and for its comunity. Even if there are still alot of nay-sayers (for example Warren Buffet)
i think this constant bashing of success in their faces will proove them wrong, while the top elite will still be negative, since bitcoins success could endanger they way of making and/or storing profit.
Let's see where this will go.

cheers

No problem. I think any press, will always get someone else thinking they should look into Bitcoin more. And I really think Bitcoin speaks for itself. It spoke to me when I first really looked into it.

Good to see that bitcoin is getting the exposure it deserves, last time was from CNN and its ticker was added and now it has an exposure on wall street journal. Anything good as an exposure on mainstream media will benefit bitcoin and its community.

Isn't there enough scammers and thieves to deal with already without the wolves of Wall Street adding to the problem? These guys 'll make MK look like a petty thief.

True that.  I don't think this is good for anyone here.

I don't know that this exposure is a bad thing. On the contrary, to me, initially at least, this seems like good publicity for Bitcoin.

TT
The article gives good analysis on the pros and cons regarding the potential for bitcoin over the long term. Unlike most/all other articles regarding the future of bitcoin it is not biased and as a result it will have more credibility, and people will make their own analysis to determine that bitcoin is overall a good investment which will cause more people to buy/invest in bitcoin

It really is funny to see the same 2 critics over and over again, bitcoin is volatility, bitcoin is illiquid, these issues will be sorted in due time and have already been for the most part, wonder what critics  bankers will come up with when the market is finally stable.

Thanks for the larger pic

Relax!
This is so awesome, man. Even if it is just for the mere exposure effect, more and more people will know the 'brand' Bitcoin and take it as something normal and not some crazy invention you can't trust.

it's nice to see that a large news paper puts bitcoin in frontpage but i think people are getting happy too quickly.
let's hope it will reach front pages more often.

The good thing is that bitcoin doesn't care about bad actors. That's the whole point of its core security.

Laugh all you want at the wolves and their games, but wall street equals not only big money, but also acknowledgement and press like this little thing in the journal and this is what Bitcoin really needs. It's no longer just some internet money of nerds and junkies Wink

This.

As an agnostic tool, the more adoption the better.  Wall Street brings big money and even a small percentage of that is a good thing.

Terminated.
Well this could be a good thing but I have my doubts. When writing about Bitcoin, an alternative to the existing systems there is no need to write about Apple pay and similar services. It's not like Apple pay and Bitcoin are the same things. Well one shouldn't expect an article solely dedicated to Bitcoin without negative writing.

Even when it is the same shit, is has their attention. Better an article with known information then nothing.

Yeah..As long as we seek their attention its all good...More ppl will get to know about BTC.. N those wall street guys r very conventional.. it is no surprise to me the way they wrote the article.
