Bitcoin or Altcoins? Actually investings in both are very promising. As bitcoin price continue to rise leading to greater opportunity in bitcoin. But seeing some other altcoins also have a very promising potential like etherium and litecoin.You just have to be more cautious in doing so specially in investing for altcoins.
Bitcoin price will always increase over time, if you don't buy it right now, you may find it $6500 tomorrow and $7000 in the next month.
If you want to trade with small amount of money, just buy altcoins such as monero, ethereum, dash, litecoin, qtum, lisk, waves, ubiq, and so on.
But, do a research about those coins before decide to invest in one coin.
If you have much money, trading bitcoin maybe profitable and guaranteed due to its value always growing, but most people trade altcoins due to low price and higher profit even though its price increase $1. Number of multipliers which generate higher profit compare to trade bitcoin.

Ofcourse it is best to invest in bitcoin now cause i think it will keep increasing in the upcoming years until it reach it's peak and i think it's peak is anywhere near so we can say that it will keep increasing for up to 5 years more maybe but bitcoin price now is expensive so if you don't have much money i think it is better to invest in altcoin and i recommend ETH we can see it's potential and its not that expensive yet so it is the right time to buy eth now..
In fact it is always good to invest your money in bitcoin. because bitcoin is the best place from where you have more chances to make good money. in fact bitcoin is now becoming more popular and that is the reason that people are still interested to invest money in bitcoin. i think that very soon the price of bitcoin is going to cross 8000$ therefore i think that it is too much profitable to invest money in bitcoin. 
If you start to invest in bitcoin then you will profit just a bit of your invetment, but if you start on altcoins since it is still down. Wait for altcoins to rise and you will get a lot from your investment. So to sum up my opinion, i suggest to start invest on altcoins if you want to profit a lot.

This is a very personal decision, because in this business it is not only about cold analyzes and investment decisions, but also involves convictions. Personally, I will always be convinced that bitcoin is and will be a safe and profitable investment for a long time, while most other altcoins are simple pump and dump schemes, which implies an unnecessary risk of losing your money.
The most prudent at the moment is investing in bitcoin, altcoin should only invest about 30%. Altcoin brings high profit but the risk is also high. If you want to profit positive I advise you to invest in BTC 
Diversification maybe more appropriate for now, 60% btc and 40% alt. Because, I still survive with eth despite a slight loss but i don't worry about it. Hopefully at 2018, ETH will be more valuable.
Reliability of altcoins is a great question.

I have only been watching a couple of months but btc really tends to suck the market dry with upcoming forks. The price is soaring again. I dont know a lot of other interesting things are gettingignored. Some ICOs you get clearly below ICO right now even really good stuff like cindicator or powerledger (6 cent!!!). BTC will keep rising up to the fork and this is a real fork. My original plan was to go the for fork but for my part I feel safer with ETH related things right now.
I never deny that altcoins is the best way to invest your Bitcoin but with it's high risk, i won't recommend for newbies cause you will cry when your assets was gone if it's not worked.
Bitcoin is currently at its peak. So the prices have chances of going low.
However 2017 has been shaping up good for bitcoins as less volatility has been seen. So hold onto your bitcoins.

i will go for altcoins because it is more affordable to buy many in price and more profitable in the long run than bitcoin
Whatever I do I always have my investment in bitcoin, it the father of cryptocurrency and it's dip and recovery is the fastest. Though I do trade alts too. My advice is always have some money in bitcoin it pay
Absolutely. You need to know the truth that is coming along the world. Bitcoin have been praised so much and the reality is, they are deserving for this praise. What a fantastic coin it is, that have change the lives of so many people. The profit ratio it just gives you, if you hold it you will not be worried. Things become so much confident about it. You all need to invest in it, it pays off.

I would split my funds, as bitcoin seems to be more stable and altcoins are cheeper now, but there are many doubts as for their reliability
That is a good choice,split the fund and invest on both coins which is a better option than holding on a single coin.Bitcoin price is keeps going up and being stable om that side the altcoin is cheaper,some of the altcoins growth is very high but we don't know how long it will go.So invest on both and enjoy the profit in the future.
Probably split my funds 70% for bitcoin and 30% for altcoins maybe 2-3 coins especailly nowadays altcoins are so cheap perfect time to buy and hodl it. Do some research about potential coins
