Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

Choosing to be around just bitcoiners seems odd to me.  Personally I'd rather be around people who are courageous enough to have woken up to big truths, like Kennedy and 9-11 being inside jobs, organized religions and patriotism being scams, stuff like that.  Now that would be interesting.

One of my ideal choices would be a muskie fishing community. At night, we would all set around and brag about the small ones that got away.

Bitcoin: For all Your Fishing Needs (maybe I shouldn't of stated this slogan, for upon further thinking it would make a fine Bitcoin commerce site)

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

Hey guys, if I get rich off my bitcoins, I would like to live in a bitcoin-focused community with other bitcoin visionaries. Where in the world shall we live? I'm partial to Portland, OR, which I hear Plato is partial to as well: http://therealplato.com/

Ideally this will happen in about a year from now.

Let's pretend for a moment that this is a forum for an infant company named PayPal and the time period is about a dozen years ago. Do you think it would make sense then to have a thread about all the people who will get rich via using PayPal to form a PayPal-focused community to live with other PayPal visionaries?

I can envision a scene in this new Bitcoin community: Two friends are on the patio when another neighbor stops by to chat. After a few minutes, the neighbor leaves. Once out of ear shot, one friends comments to the other, "Troll!"

1) No adversary has unlimited resources, so that's not a problem. 2) The west coast is not bathed in radiation. 3) You peed on yourself, not the punch bowl.

I enjoy your writing, Astrohack.  Your writing style is simple and easy to understand even when you are describing something complex.

But I think your assessment is too optimistic.  As andes carefully worked out in the 51% kryptonite thread, you seem to have very much underestimated our adversary if you think the banking Establishment will have no response to threaten the bitcoin network.  I wish it weren't so.  And that they will be overcome in one year?!  Have you taken out a loan to buy bitcoin yet?

As for the radiation threat, what has happened in Japan is terrible and it's certainly not over yet.  The news I follow is that during the initial crisis residents of Seattle were breathing ten hot particles per day.  Hot particles are microscopic specks of radiation that can lodge in your body and expose surrounding tissue to very large radiation loads.  Not talking here about overall body load here, like an x-ray.  These hot particles have been drifting on the trade winds and bathed the west coast, including Portland certainly. Not sure why you guys would ridicule me for mentioning it.  I guess this makes me a troll, right?

Astrohacker is very optimistic.  This thread methodically illustrates bitcoin's greatest vulnerability to an adversary with unlimited resources.  So getting to retire in Portland in one year seems kind of silly, (but I like the sound of it.)  One other problem: the entire west coast is being bathed in nuclear contamination from Fukushima.  Sorry to pee in the punch bowl.

Now I realize most of your posts are trolling, but somebody might actually take that seriously. Be careful when you make ridiculous statements like that.

Which of my statements was ridiculous?

You might want to consider New Hampshire. The influence of the Free State Project has led a lot of liberty-lovers there, and they generally embrace any and all non-governmental monies.

True enough; however there are a few people in the Free State Project who HATE bitcoins, and there are MANY people who use Bitcoins who hate liberty.

True, but on the other hand at the very least a disproportionate amount of New Hampshirites compared to people from other states (thanks to the FSP) are knowledgeable about Bitcoin and at least support its existence. In other places, mentioning bitcoin will either result in the person going "Wuh?" or them saying "you mean that online money you can use to buy drugs?". Porcfest actually had at least one person (possibly more) starting a bitcoin exchange where you could buy bitcoins with physical money. I wouldn't be surprised if a more permanent bitcoin bank was created there.

I know, I was there.

Woah bro, that's awesome

I would have gone, but my passport hadn't been renewed yet Sad

That works out perfectly!

BitCoin Miners + Gold Diggers  Grin

LOL, is this going to be like the official gender definitive for bitcoin generation?

Male bitcoin generators : Miners
Female bitcoin generators: Diggers Cheesy

Someone should open up a female only mining pool, and call it digging instead of mining.

I don't want to live in such a community until more females will be involved  Cheesy...

You'd probably want them to be heterosexual (or at least bisexual) females as well... Cheesy
