Hello all,

I am new here and in cryptocurrency. Actually, I stumbled upon this forum after watching a youtube video about Bitcoin Real. I have joined their Telegram group and saw that they are asking for KYC and bank statement. Is that usual? I need someone to guide through what goes on here....any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
KG

Hey I don't know the correlation between that video you saw and Bitcointalk, but I do not think it's legit and you could end up in trouble if you gave over your documents. If you feel they're misleading you being representatives of bitcointalk then you should bring it to the notice of theymos he's the owner of this forum. I feel you should immediately leave that group, and stick to this forum only when you need help relating to bitcoins.

KYC identity authentication is good to remove spam members. But there are many cheating scams to personalize your personal information
You should look carefully

The cryptocurrency market is very dangerous. It is full of many fraudsters. I don't think you should easily provide your privacy to any community!

I think he's talking about this [AIRDROP] BTCr - BTC Revolution 2.0, he's participating in its airdrop

Don't risk your identity for just a few bucks neither don't trust it to anyone.

That is the standard procedure for KYC (Know your customer). I don't feel good about this particular one , it looks more like a scam .
Stay away from it , if you really want to buy ,wait for it to get listed on exchanges.

Yeah just wait for it to get listed so you won't bother to do kyc and buying it once it listed will give you more tokens as seeing that fork coin, I'm sorry but it will dump hard.

What a pettish name, Bitcoin Real.

I hope you can make up your mind on buying that.

Since each exchange must meet the so-called KYC, it is necessary for payouts on exchanges. For projects it is not usualy.

Bitcoin Real is no asking for the KYC....the site where they asked to open wallet, cryptoa, requires KYC. Is it usual to ask for KYC for such sites? I opened blockchain and coinbase accounts, they didn't.
It's not usual, avoid them as much as possible because I checked their ann thread and it doesn't look like there's any wallet for this forked coin. Only do KYC if you're planning to convert your tokens to fiat other than that you shouldn't give anyone your personal info just for opening a wallet.

Most likely that site is an exchange better wait for the devs to release their official wallet i'm sure their wallet won't have any KYC unless there some type of exchange feature included like the one tether has.

In most cases KYC is only required if you are withdrawing large sums of money out of the exchange in short amount of time.

I hope you don't trust any telegraph groups, because they may just want to get your private information and passwords. If you want to learn more, then you can rely on the questions in the bitcointalk forum to get answers!

I would never ever trust my passport and bank info to a random who runs a telegram group. The best ot can happen is that you make a few bucks, the worst cases are varied but all of the pretty bad. I couldn’t find their website, who’s the team, any sort of credible endorsement, etc.

KYC authentication serves to verify your identity and your age. In practice, however, most cryptos operations require a minimum age of 18 years. For cryptos, for example, to exchange and trade cryptos, you must be over 18 years old, which corresponds to KYC requirements. The only KYC i did was at big exchanges like poloniex, kraken or bittrex. I trust these companies and am not afraid of misuse of my personal data. For other companies, my advice is not to do KYC.

Personally, I avoid such campaigns where KYC is required.
You never know in whose hands your personal data will fall and what they're going to do with all that stuff.
So my advice is avoid no matter what.

Fully support!
They can collect KYC member and use them for their own selfish purposes.
In which situation you can get serious problems...

No, i don't even know what is telegram group. Bitcoin not need that whatever it is.
You can buy bitcoin on exchanges, some need KYC, some not. You can transfer your BTC with online/software/mobile wallet.

Avoid ICO, ICO's are not bitcoin, its selling dreams only.

For what it's worth, it's not unusual for an airdrop to ask for KYC. It's fairly uncommon though, and it's a huge red flag. What you're essentially doing is selling your personal information for a bag of peanuts. You'll be included in spam lists at best, and you'll have your identity stolen at worst. It's better for you to not get involved.

ICOs asking for KYC are less suspicious, but suspicious nonetheless. It's all up to you to practice due diligence.

@OP are they asking KYC and bank statement for their ICO or airdrop?
either way it's not recommended to give out those stuff to some unknown parties
there are too many scams out there trying to get your personal info for bad intentions

I am happy for you that you took the initiative to ask questions by first discerning that for those things to be asked, something should not be right unlike those that would have been blinded by greed and see this as an "opportunity". I am sure you must have been promised some form of compensation to ask for such details. I won't be wrong to assume its something that would surely be related to airdrop and when you release those details, you will be able to access whatever they are promising you.

But I want to blow your mind that the moment you release those details, you have just mortgaged your identity for nothing (as no matter what you are being promised worth losing the very person you have come to identify with all your life that is even if you get paid). Its scam that won't end well.
