I was surprised and at the same time surprised to see it. But it is certainly good news. But not everything depends on Alexa ranking.

Haha! I'm not surprised that it's blockchain. I'm mostly surprised at bitcointalk ranking... I mean; it should have been relatively close to bitcointalk.org

Although Alexa ranking is not 100% accurate, it can give me an idea regarding popular Bitcoin sites. And not at all surprised
if Blockchain.com is ranked 1. Because many people now make transactions or just check the price development of Bitcoin using
the Blockchain.com application on mobile phones. Besides, Blockchain.com wallet has the biggest users, so it's only natural that
the traffic very crowded.

I'm suprised that the first place isn't bitcoin.org neither bitcoin.com, but blockchain.com:
https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/blockchain.com

The surprise isn't to be all that unexpected as Alexa only gathers information on the last few months. This is why you see this ranking. You can be confident about the true ranking by looking at the coinmarketcap as you can look at all the data. Also, I wouldn't be too surprised even if blockchain.com comes first since most people misunderstand BTC but not the technology.

Alexa rankings are not accurate and better stop using Alexa much better check them on similarweb.com it will give you better data about the website rankings.

Thanks, man!
That's a lot of help. Didn't know about that since I am also using Alexa as OP did.

Also, when people ask about Bitcoin from friends, I'm assuming a far more frequent response is "go to blockchain.com and create a wallet", rather than "go to bitcoin.org and read about it".
So true!
Some of them won't even realize there is forum like bitcointalk even though they had been accumulating bitcoin for years.
They had been checking balances and transactions in blockchain, so yes more clicks and more visits.
Easy to receive the highest rank.
I see that as a positive thing though. Is it?  Grin

bitcoin.org (#9942)
bitcoin.com (#11033)

Bitcoin.com is a commercial website which offers anything sellable. The com domain offers a crypto exchange, a news blog, a casino and a crypto wallet and everything else.

Look at that:

They are squeezing every last bit.

SEO-wise a .com domain also is a more preferable and valuable than the .org domains.

Yet...

Bitcoin.org offers only information(!) and yet still wins.

Don't believe in any ranking table that is provide by third parties. Third parties have their services and they need income to maintain their service operations. This in turn can cause sponsored rankings for companies who readily to spend funds for those third parties. Therefore, ranking tables from any sources are in doubt of correctness and trustworthiness.

Do your own research and don't let any ranking table mislead your decisions.

I'm suprised that the first place isn't bitcoin.org neither bitcoin.com, but blockchain.com:
https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/blockchain.com

Blockchain.com ranks #3641 in the global internet engagement.

Others:
btc.com (#9837)
bitcoin.org (#9942)
bitcoin.com (#11033)
bitcointalk.org (#14174)
blockchair.com (#14438)
bitcoin.it (#44283)

Website ranking cannot be determined on the basis of traffic by a third party like Alexa. Only Google can determine it and if you want to check it then you have to use Google trends.

Google trends use search data and each data point is divided by the total searches of the geography and time range. You can use Worldwide filter to determine global search data.

Alexa is no longer used to determine the global ranking. The data they provide is completely incorrect.

Alexa rankings are not accurate and better stop using Alexa much better check them on similarweb.com it will give you better data about the website rankings.

Take a look at the coinmarketcap.com on Alexa the ranking will be #895 which is higher than blockchain.
Alexa rankings give you delayed results I think 6 months delay, unlike similarweb that gives you real-time data.

Blockchain is mostly used by many apps like wallet and they always use for checking transactions that's why Blockchain rankings are better than Bitcoin.org
Wow, I didn't know about the delay. I've used Alexa from time to time because it seemed like a legit place to find out whether a website is popular or not. But now that you've said it, I did a bit of research and it seems like Alexa ranking is very limited and thus not very objective. Similarweb, on the other hand, indeed seems to be a more reputable website. According to Similarweb, however, coinmarketcap.com has a global rank twice as good as the one of blockchain.com, so I suppose it's just the truth. I've also found out through Similarweb that in the category of traffic by country on Bitcointalk my country is #3 which is quite unexpected and impressive if it's true.

If I am not mistaking, just because a site is the oldest does not makes it rank higher than the others. SEO does not work like that. Quality content is the number one driver in website ranking higher. Also, the higher the number of backlinks the website has, the greater the ranking. when you compare bitcoin.org to blockchain.com you will understand why the latter is ranked higher. also, you may need to use other ranking site to make a reasonable conclusion

Alexa isn't reliable regarding website/app traffic, and better to use similarweb just what mentioned above. Alexa tends to manipulation as you can see lots of services for boosting alexa ranking.

It's normal for bitcoin.com to have more traffic and engagement coz they are a media site unlike bitcointalk focusing on bitcoin/crypto-related discussions also for reddit as its a forum related to almost any kind of discussions on the internet.

You can visit How Alexa traffic ranking determine to find more about Alexa ranking.

Besides that, you might want to know how accurate Alexa ranking, so you will know if Alexa is accurate or not. But I think Alexa ranking is not accurate, and there are many more SEO tools which can give you another calculation about one website.

If one website wants to be number 1 in the search engine position, it needs to use SEO optimization, whether it's blackhat SEO or white hat SEO. Every website owner will want to appear in the top position at the search engine because many potential visitors will come to their site. But that will depend on the keyword you use.

So it is no surprise if a bitcoin domain name is not listed at the top position in the Alexa because they need to compete with the other website.

Alexa rankings can be manipulated.3 years ago,I stumbled upon a website called Alexaranker(if I remember the name correctly),which was basically a traffic exchange used to boost the Alexa rankings of the websites listed on that platform.
It's normal for the cryptocurrency related websites to rank low on Alexa,I don't care which cryptocurrency related website ranks on top of the other.I only care about the overall popularity of all websites in the crypto world and how we can boost that popularity.

Alexa is good to check website ranking and traffic too. but I just created an account on similarweb. Similarweb is more explanatory and its actually give more real data than Alexa. But it doesn't mean we will stop using Alexa Ranking to check. You can always compare the data of two the get the average data.

it is also a block explorer which pops up every time you search for a transaction hash or an address in google which seems like people are still using it a lot as an explorer even though it is one of the worst explorers of all times!
Yea, that too. Blockchain.com has a good number of tools and features so that definitely contributed to their dominance. Also noting that in the gaming markets, buyers/sellers who transact with bitcoin base their bitcoin prices on Blockchain.com's ticker, and actually not coinmarketcap which surprised me initially.

As for their block explorer, let's just say that people are more geared towards to better UI/UX hence why their block explorer is really widely used.

their SEO must also be very good which helps a lot with ranking in search engines and consequently gaining ranks in sites like Alexa.
Yep. Blockchain.com is a well funded company hence why they have the funds for marketing in general. Not sure why they recently lack marketing on their exchange though, which I assume could be the most profitable sector of their business. I don't think most people even know that they have an exchange LOL: https://exchange.blockchain.com/

Really not that surprising if you think about it. While yes, bitcoin.org is sort of 'the' Bitcoin website(though yes I know there is no official Bitcoin website), Blockchain.com(and .info) was the de-facto wallet that a lot of people used years and years ago, until today. The network effect Blockchain.com gained from years and years of people recommending their wallet definitely helped a lot pushed their site up in rankings.

Blockchain is common and luckily, the domain was taken by blockchain.com which is formerly blockchain.info which helped it to get up to the rankings. And for bitcoin.org, there is no interaction with the website to its visitors and it's mainly for informational stuff, visitors are going on to those blockchain or bitcoin-related websites where they can check kinds of stuff like unconfirmed transactions.

These rankings are definitely a bit of a joke.  As others have mentioned here first off, if you use an Alexa product, I would highly recommend getting rid of it asap.  Alexa products spy on you, log your data, and shares it with government authorities.  This list is subjective and has no actual true baring on anything.
