I must say that while i like standard orange Bitcoin logo, the character BTC looks naff, like someone drew lines through an unusual random font they like.  It dosen't fit with a normal san-serif font.

Honestly, BTC is a perfectly fine symbol to represent Bitcoin.

It has to be the same in all crypto-currencies. We must use a standard.
So look: Dogecoin is using Ð. A horizontal stroke trough the letter.

So it's very clear, Bitcoin can not stay with the old version ฿.
Bitcoin has to change, following Doge horizontal lead, and change to: Ƀ.

I'm not against the idea of a different Bitcoin symbol, but it's a bit late in Bitcoin's progression to try and make such a change. The BTC symbol may be more akin to a logo, but it certainly denotes Bitcoin as a currency and has represented Bitcoin to users and media sources for years now. And, ultimately, is it even necessary to change the symbol? What does it, or can it, add to Bitcoin at this point?

The OP's suggestion is not new. The idea of using Ƀ has been around for years. One good reason for using it is that it is already a standard symbol. You can already use it in an email or a document. Try putting BTC in an document.

Ah, my bad. I don't remember seeing it before.

I like the idea, now it's up to people to start using it. (I already forgot how to type it)

Guys, lets not be religious about this. I use Ƀ cause I know how to type it easily. If I had a bitcoin project, I would use artwork using BTC but who cares? Why these lengthy discussions over and over again over a non-issue?

Thank you OP for some alternative grafix for those who feel religious about using Ƀ but please  don't over-evangelize such non-issues.

If a bike costs 3000฿, is it THB or BTC (or XBT for the followers of XBTism)? So in my opinion nobody solves any issue by fighting for any of these mutually interchangeable symbols. I studied math so by nature I like clear unambiguous texts but I see no problem as long as within one and the same text you stick to one of these (or any other symbols you choose for bitcoin). Choose $. It's a nice symbol, too. And if Amazon agrees with eBay, Wallmart, Carrefour and Tengelmann to use 噶 we will most likely all learn to write this symbol. (Disclaimer: I have no clue what that symbol is. I just randomly typed unicodes until I got some actual symbol)

i think we need the noob section back with a minimum 30 activity to enter the main forum.

This guys account is old as hell

older than you Franky

despite that, there is nothing wrong with the current symbol. It's what everyone knows and uses

age is meaningless..  even the forums call him a newbie too

i laugh at the OP his website has the reasoning that thai baht symbol ฿ is the exact same as bitcoin BTC. (notice 2 verticals not one)

well the australia, canada and other places better stop copying america's $

I prever this one BTC

yep, but lets change the name "bitcoin" , could be bytecoin! Wink

no the OP wont be happy until he gets his 15 minute of fame when bitcoin is renamed to ecogex coin
