Try connecting manually to some random server. Click on the red dot in the bottom-right corner, choose 'Server' tab. Untick 'Select server automatically' and select a random server. If it still doesn't work then take a look at your firewall settings.
and it works by doing this. and sometimes it doesnt work. basically there are some programmatic issues also.
Note that you need to "right click" on the server in the list and select the "use this server" option for it to actually change to a different server. If you just "left click" on a server in the list, it won't do anything.

Also, in the past with older versions, I've had instances where I had to shutdown Electrum down and restart it to get server changes to take effect properly... but I haven't had to do that when using 3.3.8 as far as I can recall.

Keep in mind that some ISP uses transparent DNS proxy which will intercept all your DNS requests and redirect it to their own resolver. Either use a VPN or encrypt your DNS request with tools such as DNScrypt.

Try installing Electrum in your mobile wallet to see if the connection in your computer is the problem. The Bitcoin you have purchased in LocalBitcoin should reflect if your pc has connection problem but if it is not try switching your phone from using your WIFI connection to your mobile data and maybe that will solve the issue. Can you also provide the address you have used for us to see if there is an existing TX id for your transaction with LocalBitcoin?

Additional for this if it's confirmed that the problem is under your internet connection this might be a DNS issue like what I experienced before you might not receive any data from servers but the Electrum itself shows connected.
It is like Electrum can submit data but blocked on receiving data from the server that is why it is shown as connected and not syncing properly.

Try to change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 then reopen the Electrum wallet to test.

I think there's no need for him to download the mobile wallet and the first thing he has to do now is to share the transaction TX id or the receiver address while he fixes the problem from his ending about the network/server connection which was the only thing that always make electrum wallet shows the red/no connection signal.

Still struggling guys... Sorry for late reply I've tried most of the things but doesn't work out at all. I use Electrum 3.3.8

it says " defaut wallet [standard]

starting to lose hope cause this is like a whole new language for me...
Firstly, don't lose hope. It's just a "simple" network issue. Your coins are most likely safe. You can confirm that by checking your address on a blockexplorer website.

What country are you located in? There have previously been issues with certain countries blocking network traffic that affects ones ability to use Electrum. Users have had to use proxies/VPNs to get around this.

Do you have any Antivirus or Firewall software running? What OS are you using?

As said in previous posts, the problem is with your connection. Changing the server, disabling your firewall, disabling your antivirus or using a (secure) VPN should solve the problem.
If none of them works, the only thing you can do is to export your private keys and import them into another wallet like Exodus.

"Most of the things" doesn't tell us much. You have to be more specific. What did you exactly try doing? Did you try turning off your firewall and any antivirus software you have?

Do you have an antivirus?
Some AV are blocking your connection to most/all of the servers and flagging them as "coinminer" or similar threats.

If manually selecting server didn't worked, consider adding an exception for Electrum.

Can you clarify the question above from jackg if it is 3.38 Electrum version or if it is 3.3.8?

Because if you use Electrum 3.38 you are using a fake Electrum wallet.

If it shows not connected it means you are not connected to the internet or if you are connected the Electrum server you use is offline. So you have to change the server to an online Electrum server so that the wallet will sync properly and get the latest data of your wallet online.

You can find the servers when you click the circle or tools>Network>Server this is what it looks like below.

if you are sure the address you provided to LBC belongs to your wallet and you know the wallet seed then there is nothing to worry about. Even if Electrum is not connected, you will continue to receive payment but you won't get notifications about incoming transactions and won't be able to transfer your funds.

You can use a blockchain explorer such as btc.com to check if the transaction has been confirmed or not then try to connect to other servers as suggested above to fix the connection problem.

I think its going to take some time as its updated with network then your coins will appear in your wallet.

Edit: can you post here screenshot your wallet.

To clarify, you're using v 3.3.8?

Have you got a firewall enabled or antivirus and are you definitely connected to the Internet? Check the icon at the end of your task tray on every OS... And see if it says its connected or open a browser and try visiting any site on the machine.
