We can speculate about huge backlog on blockchain as an attack to bitcoin, but there is no way to be sure about it, every transaction is valid and miners suppose to process it into blocks, but there are a game about it. Miners, especially in China, have switched to mine bcash, waiting for bitcoin fees increases and difficulty decrease, then get back to mine bitcoin again. Well, it just a theory, but it's make sense due to bitcoin and bcash hashrate swings following the price movement.

Bitcoin is always under attack, and always comes back stronger. HODL!

This kind of mindset leaves unknowing people broken when the time comes that everything around them crashes. It's true that 2017 has been the year of the bulls, but who knows what we have in store for 2018? It's not that I don't have any kind of belief in bitcoin but come on, it isn't as if bitcoin is always going upwards forever. We may have entered a bear market already for all we know as previous resistance levels on $16k has been breached easily. Brace yourselves, this might be a bumpy ride from here on out.

As for "under attack", it could be a result of all the money pouring into BCH right now as Coinbase officially opened the floodgates for people to buy and trade it on their platform. Idk much about what happened  but apparently, everyone is riding on that same hype.

So you think there’s nothing unusual about 250,000+ unconfirmed (large % spam) transactions?
This is a complete scheme being driven by BCH's Roger Ver and Coinbase. You have noticed that when BCH pumps, miners start shifting towards BCH and an intended and large backlog of transaction happens while pumping BCH to heights. This time Coinbase also joined the party and was accused of insider trading. Bitcoin has always been under attack, game has only gone dirtier now.

I was going through news and articles on reddit and I find out that people are saying bitcoin is under attack and there was no any useful information about this! Please is bitcoin under attack as it has fall below  $16,000 and loss over 13% in just 24 hour.
New Users or Newbie players are on panic, news are always spreading rumors and fud news. but always remember the technology of bitcoin/blockchain. it can't be hacked by anyone. bitcoin is healthy as wel but the fee is getting expensive that's why news are spreading fud news
This is nothing new to me and i think you will find it everywhere were people are keep on worrying even if they didn't know what actually is happening. Bitcoin is always under attack by people who are making FUD so that it will create a panic to some users and they will tend to sell it even if the price is cheap so that they can buy if the price will go down.

Here we go again - people are panicking that bitcoin is under attack, that mempool is gonna fill up soon and we will see bitcoin death spiral...
Mainstream media doesn't help either every day I see the stupid news that "Bitcoin could be the biggest bubble in history".
With the recent surge of new bitcoin users, it is no wonder that price will note a correction - which is happening now. Nothing new, move on.

Some sort of issues arise often and to overcome the same its really a tedious factor, but each and every time bitcoin user to cross it with ease. This makes people believe in its growth as well provide full support to the bitcoin network and continue to be a part of the community.

Under attack by whom? The investors or some sort of hackers? The word "under attack" you are using seems that some hackers are going to acquire bitcoin network which is simply illogical and impossible. If you are just saying about the market downfall due to the cashout of investors then you should not use this word.
Well if you are regular user of bitcoin you can observe that this is only a correction which always happened soon after bitcoin achieve new heights rapidly. And this isn't the end in fact this correction is a new startup of journey to cover new benchmarks in future.

For a newbie it gets very easy to get panicked about it . Bitcoin is always at a risk of shredding the value. This is not something very unusual . You must be pretty much aware about bitcoin's volatility and if you are you must be patient enough watch and handle the consequencies .
Bitcoin has apparently lost a lot of value due to the bitcoin cash hike in the value . That problem is also going to get resolved soon because bitcoin cash is involved in playing dirty games right now . Investigations are being done for that.

Bitcoin never became under attack.. Every time it collapsed , it risen back more strongly.. Its unstoppable now.. Enjoy and be a billionaire from btc..
I heard about the Youbit thing, that could have been the cause but I am not sure that was really the full cause.

The market needed a correction and that could have been a little catalyst. However, Youbit is a Korean exchange and I am not sure the volume amount it really affected on this exchange anyway. The correction was bound to happen and that is what we are experiencing and we just hope it is over for now.

I don't believe that bitcoin is under attack. who would attack it? It is just a correction of price because it reach to high and it is just a normal thing that bitcoin price goes down and up. Though the price is falling down it will still go up soon and will make a new heights.
Yes you are right, it not under attack. This is the common situation in bitcoin market that the price up and down. Those people are might cashout their btc into fiat or they swing into altcoins. Altcoins are in green mode maybe this is the time for the correction of btc. But btc will be back to its high value and will continue to rise.

What the attack means is that someone or some group is trying to slow down the bitcoin network, this is probably a tactic to push again for a hard fork which is segwit2x coming before the year ends. I guess it is just normal, but I think prices will pump back up before that time since I think segwit2x will just be another altcoin like bch and btg.

It's part of the process especially when you are undergoing such a huge and drastic increase in terms of its improvement and development of its price in the past couple of years bitcoin will be attacked by critics in social media, businessman who does not approve of the rise of bitcoin and other alternative coins in our world today will continue be doing such plots to devastate the rise of bitcoin. Bitcoin has proven time and time again that it can overcome these obstacles so there is no need to worry.

bitcoin is always under attack in the social media and other ways. that doesn't mean any drop that happens is because of these attacks.

in this case this current drop is because of a couple of things in my opinion
- the rise which was big and needed a correction. just like any other drop (correction) before it.
- the large number of newbies who have invested in bitcoin and are panicking each time they read something online and decide to dump
- the huge backlog that bitcoin has and it doesn't seem to be going down and has caused a huge fee
- the bitcoin cash pump and the social media campaign they have started by encouraging everyone to sell their bitcoin while they are buying it themselves.
Yeah, the rise was really big and without that correction, then normally, we should be worried.
The market was overbought and apparently needed a breathing space to move on and the present correction is enough to give us all that.

Some though will fall for the whole thing but in this case we expect that the correction is over as so many people are still looking out to see how it would still all play out as there could be possibility for further corrections.

Well a normal situation or you thought that he would constantly go into growth. I was sure that there should be a descent and now we see that I was not mistaken.
I really would not classify that as an attack and by attack, I am sure the OP could have been referring to the attack on Youbit exchange which has caused lot of money stolen. However, this could have fueled the whole thing a little bit but I am sure it is not something that happened that was not really expected as a huge correction was imminent anyway.

Attack by whom? This that is happening is a normal thing that was expected anyway and it is one of those things one should understand when in this world. That was a pretty huge correction and the market really needs it, so for now, we just have to see where we are headed next or probably we will keep seeing some of this again but this is not the first time that bitcoin would be under attack by the wiles of the so called media.
