the end result does not determine whether there was a crash or bubble. all the things that went on in the middle of beginning and end will determine if there was a crash or a bubble. and as others mentioned there was both a bubble and a crash in bitcoin.

there was also lots of FUD like always and also there will be a big rise after this dip is over, like always!

This is not a crash its called volatility and we are already up for yearly. So this is called correction.
Yes we lose power cause of authorities but bitcoin will gain losses soon. its not bubble for sure.

volatility and correction are factors that apply to a much less price change than this. we had a little less than 70% drop. that is neither volatility nor correction.

I would better call it the Big Game of the greatest players on the market of cryptocurrency. I also think that it is not a correction at all. Now Bitcoin got more popularity.

Fear is a stronger emotion than greed. During October 2017, Greed took over the market, everybody wanted a piece of bitcoin, causing the uptrend in BTC price to $19k in a span of 2 months. Probably most of the whales took profit which pulled the price downtrend back to $6k in a span of 2 months as well. Now, I think due the CFTC hearing, along with other good news about crypto, we are in accumulation stage, probably the whales who cashed out during ATH are buying chunks of BTC again daily in discretion. Let's wait for another 2 months and hope for another bull run.

Yes obviously we're still now at where it was what like around thanksgiving. So not too bad. Though the temporary 70+% crash did hurt, as it always does. But Monday was likely the bottom of the bear market so we're all good now. It may still take some months to get back to $20k, but I have no doubts the 2018 high will be far higher than the 2017 high.

Obviously the December rise from $10k to ~$20k in less than 3 weeks was a bubble. But it popped and now less than two months later we've likely hit the bottom and are at the start of moving back up. The scary times are likely over for now.

Just remember any bubble for bitcoin is only temporary. The price will at some point crash and will later return to far higher values. It's still early days in the adoption of bitcoin. The overall market trend for at least the next few years is going to be exponentially green.

I see many people are coming on this forum to try to deceive and manipulate peoples minds, the evil forces are trying to scare the weak people to loose their money.Bit coin is ok you just hold untill Christmas time 2018 and then you will see your surprise.Dont listen to FUD go watch TV or do something else if you are worried and always watching the price.

I am sure those guys who are taking part in this forum constantly do not think that Bitcoin is a bubble. Nobody is expecting for its crash, we all just worry about the rate of BTC and its progress.

Only thing that has happened was that - bitcoin was hyped up, but it genuinely had a lot more adoption as well, which meant that price went through the roof and sort of becamea  speculative bubble. But now, it's returned to around where it should be at the moment.

We're definitely still up, A LOT. If you have bought just 2 years ago you'd still be in thousands of percent of profits.

No point denying that there was a crash though. But again, that is just a normal part of things and there is really no point in exaggerating things, which a lot of people are currently doing. You're not going to see bitcoin going up forever, without crashing. Not going to happen. Bitcoin is traded on markets and that's what markets do sometimes.

there is just a lot of things wrong with this topic and the title here!

there was a bubble. but it was not as big as they advertised it. and it was corrected (burst) a long time ago and it was over. somewhere around $12k-$14k the bubble was long over.

then there was a crash. a crash which was manipulation and fake dumps to push the price down combined with a lot of FUD in the media to intensify the panic. and it was successful which you now can see the result of it on the charts.

sorry but 20k to 6k  is a crash   no matter how u spin it  Cheesy

It might be a crash, but still a crash that was unavoidable after such a giant run.

Its also a matter of persepctive. If you bought in October, you are at +40%, whereas you are at -60% if you bought in December.

Well, I personally think this is a weird way to look at it. It sets you up to be like "oh we are still in the positive" when the market is clearly going downwards. I feel like with this mindset you will just continually go back to earlier times in order to say "we are still in the positive".

People started saying "we are up x% since December" and now we are working our way to October lol.

For instance, you could say now that it's up 40% from october 2017, or up 300% from july...but that's also like saying in 2008 hey the market isn't crashing, we are still 15% up since last summer... or 50% since the summer before that!

Sure the market came back after a year of crashing, but that's not what we are talking about here. There was a period of time when the market WAS NOT in the green anymore for almost a decade worth of price action, so this thought process would've done you more harm than good unless your plan all along was to hold through the crash.

Yes the tv and FUD is misleading, but so is this mindset.

It's fine if you do this to cope during bad times and plan to hold for many years ahead of here, but to push this narrative on others when your trading strategies might be vastly different is not a good thing. You are choosing to cope with the pain, don't manipulate others into making the same choices as you when they are more than likely unprepared for the consequences.
In a way you are right, but the price you should worry about is the price at what you bought, if you bought at 1500 then as long as bitcoin is above that then you earned money without doing anything, yes the market is going down and our profits as well, but if you were that worried you could have sold at the ATH and buy at these prices instead of holding.

Bitcoin price has crashed since January whether you want to admit it or not. Bitcoin has reached the new ATH over $20K and look at current price $7700. It may continue to fall below $5000 as The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has planned to crack down all things related to cryptocurrency.

You are right but new commers are comparing current price with the highest price (which was 19k) and that's wrong.
If we compare the current price with the one when Bitcoin started (2009), it will be ridiculous to say tha it is over or to say cryptocurrency is dying.
I can't blame them because they invested alot of money and bought at high prices.

It is. There are however various ways to look at current levels. It's either the long term vision where we are still up a lot, or the extremely short term vision where we are down a lot. It depends on your interest in this market.

I am long term minded so the aforementioned long term vision is what I keep holding on to. Others who just look to bank on short term fluctuations will more likely focus on how the market has gone down a lot this year.

Both long and short term visions are valid, so there isn't a wrong way of looking at the market. The only important thing is that people should calm down and not act like this correction is something we haven't gone through before.

It's part of the market so deal with it.

I assume that they are paid trolls or they really want to push newbies to sell because they will take advantage of it by buying at the dip or the last thing that I can think of is they are happy to see people panicking and celebrating with others misfortune by investing at high price and selling at low price.
the evil forces are trying to scare the weak people to loose their money.
That force might be the bank, the government or a group of individuals that are trying to break down bitcoin.
Bit coin is ok you just hold untill Christmas time 2018 and then you will see your surprise.
They think that bitcoin is an instant profit generator.
Dont listen to FUD go watch TV or do something else if you are worried and always watching the price.

Yes when compared to the price on october 2017,bitcoin price is still high but most of us don't want to admit it and we just get ready to become victims of FUD spreaders that bitcoin price is crashing or that the bubble has burst.Instead we would have to be staying cool without any fear since bitcoin price has not fallen below its october price.

This time last year i sold 3 bitcoin for around £3k (£1k each) they are now worth around 5.75 times as much, if at the end of a year IF you had that sort of return in any other market you would be sipping champagne and congratulating yourself for picking a winner.
