it's nice to have a personalized plate with a reference to bitcoin, if it's not too expensive to get one ,i could think about it, it would be a source of pride

Read and comprehend. Evaluate and take action.
I personally would keep a low profile and not announce that I probably have a lot of Bitcoins because I created a Bitcoin vanity plate. You can easily become a target of a criminal, who can follow you, rob you, or force you to give up your coins. And if that happens the cops are not going to be able to get them back for you.

Yup. this is how a smart person does it. stay smart and avoid unnecessary risk and headache.

People tend to forget the reason why one would want to have custom license plates. To show off.  And gov knows it and lets them have it for extra $.

You got a good point here, people can easily expose themselves to lots of weirdos out there simply because of their stupidity.

Simplest scenario: a person got a vanity plate, RICHBTC (or similar) and drives around. gets noticed by jealous weirdo, gets tracked down, kidnapped, forced to give his coins(if any) and hopefully survives. coins gone, hopefully alive, but feels so awesome to have a fancy custom plate. and a gun he has/had carried didn't help.

Now imagine a scenario with a creative criminal who can plan things out - you are a legit target. You say I'm paranoid ? Watching too much Hollywood ? Get real and face the reality.

We live in america, where safe to live for the most part. Americans are normally trustworthy and you wouldn't typically expect something like this. In other countries people kill each other for food, and we're talking about crypto which is nowadays more valuable than precious metals.

BITCOIN

Ohio - LiteBit

I'm no longer owner of the Ohio BITCOIN plates. We turned them in back in 2013 or 2014 because my wife was afraid of being profiled Sad
Little 1" BTC stickers still give us street cred with the eagle-eyed Ohioans.

Personally I like to keep a low profile, so I would never advertised any association with Bitcoins, as I could become a target of a criminal. I've come across the phrase, "Criminals are pretty smart," reading about Tor, dark web, and even banks following criminals with the blockchain. But in reality most criminals are idiots, and will try to rob you in very simplistic ways, without even giving the once of thought that they might get caught.

Mark Hale - California - http://bitcoin-jet.com

L-39 fighter pilot training aircraft. It was made during the cold war in Czechoslovakia. There are probably a hundred or even many more flying around the world. Most are privately owned. They have sold for between $150,000 and $1 million+ in the last few years, depending upon the condition of the engines and electronic equipment inside and other details. Probably $350-500,000 (~1000 Bitcoin).

Just found this thread, super cool to keep a collection from around the US and world.  I have the BITCOIN plate from Vermont.  They sent me 2 plates and I only use the one on the rear and not front so I get to keep one all nice and clean in my office.  But alas, its not on a Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, etc, just can't bring myself to pay that much on a car (I'm a finance guy, lol), it's on an old Subaru with a 155k miles on it.  Grin

How do I add a pic of it to this thread..am I totally missing how to add an attachment or do I need to use outside link?

When posting there's a 'insert image' button at top left which I'm sure that you've seen, but yes you need an outside link for it, imgur pic hosting or something.

Got it, thanks.  So add Vermont to the list.  Green Mountain Boys. Smiley

Not vanity plated, or at least not as yet, but purchased with Bitcoin investment profits, about 150 BTC worth.

bluetrevian's Tesla Model S P85, tricked out with a ton of options - almost all the bells and whistles except for the "Plus" option (http://www.teslamotors.com/models/design)

bitpay - Tony Gallippi's Tesla - youtube

Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoins also has a Tesla (the first that I'd seen) & which looks very cool in white as well.
