Bitcoin has different wallets, you can use the offline wallet as well as online wallet If you talk about online wallets than I think Blockchain and coinbase are the best and valuable wallets for storing saving bitcoins,

Good job you @silent26 for this extensive and detailed post. I really like the Nano wallet as my best offline wallet. And I do use the blockcain wallet as my online wallet. I protect my keys and details to avoid being hacked because anything that happens is in my hand. I think there is need for a wallet that will allow bitcoin fork coins to be received.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator and released as open-source software. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process knows as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services.

Great efforts to explain types of wallets to the newbies who are confused while taking the decision to choose their wallet. I am a great fan of offline wallets and I am using a paper wallet (with multiple backup copies) to store my main cold storage funds and then I also have Trezor wallet for flexible funds and then I use web wallet for liquidity purpose but never keep more than 5% funds online.

CoinBase: The excess Wallet Coinbase lies in its features as well, there are many features, namely: Vault (Vault), Vault is a vitur where if we want to safely store the bitcoin without feeling anxious, then this feature is the right choice, by inserting the vault wallet in coinbase, we can sleep soundly without having to fear our coinbase account in the hack, Why is Vault wallet safe ??
Because here a lot of verification system if we want to memwithdraw bitcoin, if we do withdraw in vault wallet, then we have to pass the stages that is, 2 factor verification can be through sms, and authy code. after that we still have to wait 2x24hours, or 2days 2nd night, if it is not you who withdraw it is sure you will be able to cancel at the withdraw, if you login on 1 day after withdraw by our wallet breaker.

I am a little suggest, for now please be careful with the exchange and wallet applications on smartphones, because now start circulating phishing applications on smartphones that will steal all your secret data
Actually, using bitcoin wallet from phone is as safe as using any other wallet in computers. Its only up to the user how to take care of his/her wallet. Some people are just too careless. Sometimes, they accidentally give their private keys to other people or public and some people are just too dumb to give information to a unknown person asking for his/her wallet password or private keys.

I am one example of people who take care of their wallet so much. I only used a mobile bitcoin wallet app and I have no problem using it at all.

Tips.
To avoid phishing. Don't just click untrusted or suspicious link sent via Pm by a unknown person, also suspicious links that you can see on internet. I'm pretty sure that phishing sites are scattered everywhere.
If you really want to open a particular link, try to open it using different web browser where there is no account logged in. You can use incognito browsers, it is much way better.

OP, please stop calling people Sir. The formalities are not necessary, because we are all equal here.  Wink {There are also a lot

Entrepreneurs will be happy to know that Electrum already has support for checks, or invoice, their list will appear in your wallet as soon as you make payment for the first check, on the "Send" tab. If you are tempted to use Bitcoin for calculations in a store or a supermarket, and not in dOrknet, you can get a powerful enough "cryptographic temporary signature" tool for all checks - at your disposal. A chip for marketing, slave control or accounting? You decide!

All Bitcoin online wallets are divided into 2 groups:

Hybrid (with multi-signature). In this case, the service has limited access to your Bitcoins. In order to confirm the transaction, you need the signature of two parties: yours and the service. Such wallets are more reliable than traditional ones, but the user will have to store a private key on his device.
The keys are stored by the service. These purses, in turn, are divided into 2 groups:
Exchange. About the exchange, I'll write in one of my articles. So far, I can only say one thing: exchanges are created for the exchange of crypto currency, and not for the storage of Bitcoins. Therefore, withdraw all available funds from exchanges to purses.
Traditional wallets. These are online services that store your keys at home, giving you only backup copies.

A Bitcoin Wallet is a piece of software to be use to communicate with bitcoin network. It is use to send or to receive transactions. Every bitcoin account has a public address, just like an email address and private key or password . We use public address to send or receive money. On the other hand we must protect our private key and never reveal it from anybody. If someone knows your private key they can steal your bitcoins and send it somewhere else.

Bitcoin, unlike most traditional currencies, is a digital currency. Thus, the approach to this kind of currency is completely different, particularly when it comes to acquiring and storing it. As Bitcoins don’t exist in any physical shape or form, they can’t technically be stored anywhere. Instead, it’s the private keys used to access your public Bitcoin address and sign for transactions that need to be securely stored. A combination of the recipient’s public key and your private key is what makes a Bitcoin transaction possible.

So far so good that wallet and hopefully it will long last not good to store your bitcoin in a long term. Also, blockchain.info is good to use wallet I think this decentralized website.

No, blockchain.info is definitely not a good wallet to start with. It might be user friendly, especially for new people who haven't used cryptocurrencies, but it isn't secure at all. Some people reported problem with disappearing funds from their accounts, even though they had separate password for their service. A lot of people are complaining about high fees, I wouldn't use it for long-term investments. If you are looking for a wallet which you could use on your mobile phone then there are many good alternatives which at least gives you your private key or seed.

For online wallets, blockchain is quite good, just secure it properly and if you can afford a hardware wallet then get one because it's much safer and reliable.

Using web wallets is a common mistakes which many newbies make. I must admit that they are really convenient to use but they are not secure at all. Blockchain doesn't let you to view or manage your own private key which is later used for signing transactions. Try to use Electrum, Armory or Bitcoin Core if you don't want to spend any money on a hardware wallet or if you are waiting for one to be delivered. Even if your hardware wallet dies, you still will be able to recover your bitcoins using seed given on the first wallet setup. If you really want to use a web wallet then go for GreenAddress.it

Well, to be honest, this is one of the best post made in this forum with well researched and adding value to the query and this was one of my first questions in this forum when i was at beginner level. According to me the best wallets for Bitcoin or any other coins will be the Hardware wallets especially something like Trezor wallet and i have bought one a few months back and using it on daily basis. I am quite happy with the hardware wallet and other than hardware every other wallet lacks behind.

I think it's good to store your Bitcoin into a hardware wallet like the ledger nano. If you don't have a ledger nano, your Bitcoin must be placed into some wallets and not in one address only. Local wallets like coins.ph is not advisable for those who have large amount of Bitcoin because aside from it has a limitations in terms of withdrawals, they also watching the amount of the Bitcoin that come and go into your wallet, you might be suspecting of money laundering and your account on them will be suspended if they will not be satisfied with your credentials provided. So coins.ph is not reliable enough.

Well written and well explained too, but regarding hardware wallets, you should include (I guess) some products of ledgerwallet like the nano blue and for the software wallet samourai wallet is nice too, there are many positive feedbacks for this wallet.
Good day Sir. I didn't include the Samurai Wallet because the app is still in development. It's still unstable and some bugs may still occur when using it, though Samurai wallet will really become a good wallet in the future since it has so many features. I will add Samurai Wallet once it is fully released.  Wink

Well written and well explained too,

Thanks for your greetings Sir. Good comments like these inspired me by making more research and informative posts.

And addition for blockchain.info disadvantages, the wallet is full of bugs.

Well written and well explained too, but regarding hardware wallets, you should include (I guess) some products of ledgerwallet like the nano blue and for the software wallet samourai wallet is nice too, there are many positive feedbacks for this wallet.

1) Are hardware wallets allowed on every exchange. I mean I am not using any international exchange but the exchanges available in my country. I do not see any option there to store in physical wallet. I tried searching for tutorials but there is nothing for the specific exchange.
Yes, hardware wallets are allowed on any exchange you are only sending cryptocurrencies to the wallet address of the exchange or vice versa and there's nothing to do when sending to any wallet, international exchange or local.

2) If someone steals that physical wallet and I have not written the details, I will not be able to access the coins. Right ?
Of course, yes. Once the hardware wallet breaks, steal or lost and you don't have written or save the backup of it then there's no way to recover your funds on that hardware wallet that's why most wallet has an alert to backup the recovery phrase first when using in any type of wallet.

And addition for blockchain.info disadvantages, the wallet is full of bugs.

Well, I thought it might be worth mentioning since you wrote "Ledger Nano S" instead of just "Ledger". There was also Ledger Blue but it was discontinued. I still think that it would be a good idea to add this model since it "fixes" the disadvantages of the previous model, but it's up to you.
Oh ,I just used the name Ledger Nano S because it is the common name called by people to Ledger wallet.  Grin and it is also the name that I saw in some articles that I found. They also called it Ledger Nano S that's why it's the name I also used.
You should also try formatting the whole text, it will look better. Try to bold some of the most important information such as software and hardware wallets definition.
Because of excitement I forgot to use some of the forums functions for formatting text. Thank you for reminding me.

Silent26,you invest some time and research in your thread and there is no doubt that it will be of help for newbies and for some more experienced users.I'm not sure is this thread belongs here or would be more appropriate to be posted in Beginners&Help, but this is up to you and moderator.

Some things I would added/change to your descriptions :

Ledger Nano S is support much more crypto coins then Trezor, and Ledger reputation is not in any case worse then Trezor.

For any online wallet, like Blockchain.info it would be well worth mentioning that this is not a way to store&keep coins for long term.if you not have full control of your private keys-you can lose them anytime.

Another thing that would be worth mentioning is download of any wallets from internet, there is so many attempts of phishing and users often download fake wallets and lose coins in that way.So maybe would be good to add legit link for every wallet which you have described.
That's a good Idea. Working on it Sir. I will add the links for each of these wallets where it can be downloaded and buy. Actually I really decided to post this thread in this section because, Im thinking that if I posted this in Beginners&Help. There's a possibility that no non-beginners can't find this topic since they don't visit Beginners&Help Sections too much. But it still depends on our Moderators to where this topic really belongs  Grin
By the way. Thank you for adding more informations Sir  Wink I appreciate it so much.

Several of these wallets I have used. The paper wallet is best for huge amount storage and of course for any amount in long-term. Ledger Nano is user-friendly including newbie. I'm using one of it right now.
If you ask me about web wallet, well I don't prefer them but if I need to use one, I'd prefer blockchain.info.
I use Mycelium and Coinomi where Mycelium is the winner. For PC I prefer Bitcoin core because I have a limited trust level for third-party apps and tools.

That's a very nice and detailed list of available Bitcoin wallets. But I think you should treat them equally in terms of being open-source or not, as in some wallets you mention it as a benefit, while in other you don't mention it at all. Bitcoin Core, Electrum and Armory are all fully open-source, while most hardware wallets are not fully open-source and exodus isn't either. Open-source is an important aspect of the safety of a wallet, as it allows you to verify whether a wallet is working as described and doesn't include any backdoors.

I recently got to know about how rich and secured coinomi is. It is not open to the public which is the most important. Difficult for hackers if you don't expose your password & seed. Having numerous wallets for different coins plus support for additional tokens is another advantage it has.

Yes you are right Sir. But what I have discussed to Trezor is some of its advantages and disadvantages. I didn't include the features and other improvements of the latest Trezor because I thought its unnecessary since I'm just giving some basic and main information about the wallets I provided. My main goal is to atleast give people some ideas about different wallets and its pros and cons. I think the improvements and new features of each wallet is unnecessary. But still,  Thank you for your information Sir. People who read this thread will also find your post helpful.

You should also try formatting the whole text, it will look better. Try to bold some of the most important information such as software and hardware wallets definition.

I'm promoting Docademic.
You can visit docademic.com and check us out.

Totally irrelevant.
I apologise Sir. I just added it a little while ago. But yes you're right, It's irrelevant to the topic. But I think there's no problem adding this little information since I'm promoting Docademic. But don't worry Sir I removed it already.

You haven't put all wallets but lets say it is somewhat good list shall we. People don't report issues with Jaxx, but there are known issues with how safe this wallet is actually secure to use, many bad things PLUS IT IS NOT OPEN SOURCE like many of wallets you have listed and you should put this as well. Not open source you can't really tell what an wallet is doing in the background other than to trust the developers of it.

Thanks for this information. I updated the thread.

People don't report issues with Jaxx, but there are known issues with how safe this wallet is actually secure to use,
Actually there are really some reported issues about Jaxx. Some says  it freezes and some functions are not working well. I think these issues keep Jaxx low rated than other application wallets. But it is still a good wallet for some people. It just need a little improvement from the developers.

Please, change the information about TREZOR. You have described TREZOR One which was released a few years ago. TREZOR is now shipping out the pre-orders of its the latest model T. Could you separate these two models? Entering PIN on TREZOR T is much easier because everything is done on device's touchscreen, no more complicated patterns. The same thing goes for passphrases and seed recovery/creation, you don't have to worry about keyloggers which is a huge advantage. I would be grateful if you could change that. If you need more information, feel free to ask!

There are many information about wallets out there. Altought this might be good to post if google and google will probably index this page so newbies land here in search of wallets. Honestly that part at end, the promtion that you put is totally irrelevant to the whole theard and can be seen unproffessional from your side. Good job @Silent26. It's been a while I've seen a thread on this board where extensive research was done before putting up a thread.

Meanwhile, I would like to suggest you add which wallets can be used for Segwit addresses and Ios devices.

Thank you Sir. I will add more information later on or I will create a new thread since it seems like the thread is overloaded.

I think Bitcoin should be stored on a cold wallet because it does not need internet connection because it stores Bitcoin offline so it will limit the possibility of theft from hackers in the world but it has one disadvantage that you will have difficulty in spend as well as buy, sell the product online.

Hi guys, I created this topic to enhance the knowledge of those who still beginning in Crypto World.I recently found some articles about this on the internet and I also noticed that no one has ever posted a topic like this so I just came up to this idea to share this information about Bitcoin wallet. I know there are a lot of people who already knows what is Bitcoin wallet and what is its purpose. But there are also some people here who didn't know about these things for sure. I make some research but you can still find information like this in internet on your own if you want, but I will explain it to you here so that you won't need to go to intermet to search certain informations like these.

Contents:
*Basic information about Bitcoin wallet address
*Types of wallets
*Example of bitcoin wallets and its advantage and Disadvantage.
*Download links, links and official website of bitcoin wallets are provided below to avoid phishing sites. They are 100% real.

Lets start with what is Bitcoin wallet.

According to Investopedia Bitcoin wallet is a Software/Hardare where we can be able to store Bitcoins. This is mostly similar to wallet we used for storing money.

Bitcoin wallet consists of
1. Passwords/Private keys- which is needed to access your wallet account. Private keys and Passwords are very important. These keeps our wallets secured. We must always keep it in a safe place and never forget it or else. We will just end up unable to access our wallets.

2. Wallet address - it represents a possible destination for Bitcoin payments and transactions. Bitcoin wallet address is not like Passwords that we need to keep by ourselves. Instead it is the opposite of Passwords where we can share to anyone or to public.  If somebody will send you bitcoins just give them your Bitcoin wallet address. Same as if you want to send some bitcoin. Just ask for their Bitcoin wallet address. You can find Wallet address in your wallets. It consists 26 to 35 alphanumeric characters that start with either "1" or "3".

There are types of Bitcoin wallets,
1. Paper wallet
2. Software wallet
3. Hardware wallet

Hardware wallet - A hardware wallet is a physical electronic device used for storing bitcoins. Some people says Hardware wallets are the best choice because it is secured, reliable and convenient. Hardware wallet is better than Software wallet because it is much easier to store bitcoin and it is more secured, east to backup and less margin for errors but the problem is, Hardware wallets are not free. They are too expensive. Here are some examples of Hardware wallet.

1. Ledger Nano S

Advantages:
*Allows storage of the world’s leading digital currencies.
*Integrates with a multitude of software wallets.
*An OLED display that allows you to double-check each transaction.
*One of the most affordable OLED-based hardware wallets.
*Supports more Cryptocurrencies than Trezor.

Disadvantages:
*Not as reputable as some of the leading hardware wallets, such as TREZOR.
*Not for free.

Buy Ledger Nano S here(official website): https://www.ledgerwallet.com/products/ledger-nano-s?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu8PcrIXi2QIVGKrsCh2yBgX0EAAYAiAAEgLXZPD_BwE

2. TREZOR

Advantages:
*Security. Limits the ways your Trezor can be accessed and protects it from hacking.
*Multiple currencies. Supports several currencies other than bitcoin and can convert transaction amounts to and from fiat currency.
*Easy-to-use interface. The myTrezor browser plug-in makes it easy complete transactions.

Disadvantages:
*Complicated PIN. It takes time to set up the plug-in, and you must re-enter your PIN using an obscured keypad every time you plug in the Trezor.
*Limited transaction opportunities. Because it’s a hardware wallet, the Trezor must be plugged into a computer to make transactions, unlike mobile or paper wallets that can be used on the go.
*Not for free

Buy Trezor here: https://shop.trezor.io
Official website: https://trezor.io

3. Keepkey

Advantages:
*Top-notch security standards make it virtually impossible for hackers or viruses to steal your private key.
*Offers the same security features as more established products, such as TREZOR.
*Attractive, professionally designed OLED display makes using the device easier than other similar products.
*Provides access to the world’s leading cryptocurrencies.

Disadvantages:
*A lack of web wallet means users must add software such as Electrum or MultiBit to make use of its applications.
*Larger size makes it slightly less portable than TREZOR or Ledger, which can fit comfortably in your pocket.
*Setup is fairly straightforward, but doesn’t allow users to save their progress.
*Not for free

Buy keepkey here(Official website): https://www.keepkey.com

These are the example of hardware wallets. Although they have their own advantages, they also have disadvantages and these are very expensive.

Now lets move on to Software wallets.

Software wallets - Software wallets are like what I've discussed earlier. It is an application which we can install in our Computers or mobile devices like Android and Ios but not just that because there are also Software wallet that is web based wallets. Most of all software wallets requires internet connection in order to access and ofcourse our password too.
Here are some examples of software wallets.

2. Mycelium
Actually Mycelium is the first Bitcoin wallet I ever used. I've tested this one and it is really secured. Mycelium can also be connected to hardware wallets like ledger nano S, trezor and keepkey.
MyCelium is an open-source project and is regularly being technologically upgraded by an active community of developers.

Advantages:
*Better than Web Wallets
*Interactive UI

These are some fo Software wallets that I found in internet. But there are still more a lot of wallets out there. Some are just unrated and not popular. What I mentioned above are trusted and known wallet.
Remember, there are some fake wallets that sometimes used to steal your bitcoins. I recommend to read their reviews first and make some research about your desired wallet for your safety.
Oh I forgot something, I'm not finish yet. I've only discussed Hardware and Software wallet which means Paper Wallets are not yet discussed. Well lets proceed.

Paper wallets- paper wallets are documents containing all of the data that is needed to generate any number of bitcoin private keys. It is usually used for storing bitcoins offline as a physical document. I cant be able to give some examples of paper wallet because paper wallets are just documents made by people. But it is still a way of storing bitcoin.

Well, thats all. I have copied some of the information here from the articles I found. I make some research and gathered information from different sites and combined them as one information and this is the result.
