OP maybe you should add this to your tutorial thread:  Roll Eyes

BitcoinMessageTools: https://bitcoinmessage.tools

GitHub: https://github.com/shadowy-pycoder/BitcoinMessageTools

GitHub (CLI): https://github.com/shadowy-pycoder/bitcoin_message_tool
This thread was last updated back in 2018 and OP isn't active on Bitcointalk for several years already. It would be good to check outdated information, fix images and add new stuff, but it won't happen, unless someone will make new version of topic

Is there an alternative I can use to sign a message since coinbase doesn't let you?

All previous transactions were on coinbase..
You can not sign a message on an exchange or custodial wallet. Also you can not sign a message with an address that an exchange or custodial will generate you.

Are you talking about the Coinbase noncustodial wallet? Import the seed phrase on Electrum, Sparrow or Bluewallet wallet and sign the message from any of the wallet.

It seems that something is wrong with your signed message [e.g. it could be an extra space or something like that]... I had no luck in verifying it with Bitcoin Core, Trezor Suite, Electrum, and -snip-
It looks like he accidentally added a single whitespace at the end of the message (after the dot) but omitted it in that reply.
But it can't be verified by any tool aside from Brainwallet's Verify Message - Bitcoin-QT tab and manually adding the "space".

His signed message in this board can be verified though: /index.php?topic=5300698.msg60497828#msg60497828

- Sign another message and check if you can verify it on "Brainwallet".

You might want to sign a message on the following thread as well: Stake your Bitcoin address here

Thanks for spotting the error, I have corrected and verified it with mycelium wallet. But I will still appreciate if you can also verify the message for me.

Sorry for Bumping up the old thread. I was here because I didn't have any idea about how this works. I have learned how to sign a message from my own wallet.
I have found that Blocktrail has announced their service ended in 2019, But, This thread wasn't updated. The thread creator is not active for a long time now. Since this thread is very useful for newbies (Even for some hybrid Sr. members like me Undecided), I think I am doing right by Bumping up this thread.
OP didn't active for 2 years so he can't moderate it, the possibility to edit and change the thread is a moderator.
but, when I read up the thread it's just for verifying messages, which show how to which the same what another wallet did. So, I think it can be continued by using another website in the same way.

Why don't you just learn and do the right thing instead of getting into all these confusion  Roll Eyes
What you ask him to do isn't proper but you could probably send screenshots of your difficulties in the website to see if anyone(most especially a major promoter here) can help you solve your problem.
We're still waiting to hear from you  Smiley

I do not know you but, I will trust, can I give you my freebitco.in data so that you can enter my account and you can check and tell me if what you said can be done?
Please don't use red color. Use the default color.

Anyway, you should do that yourself.

You have sent bitcoin to freebitco before. Okay? Where did you send that fund from? You are the only one who knows the answer to this question. Even if I login to your account, I can't know that.
Have you set a bitcoin address as your withdrawal address in your profile? If so, do you remember where did you take that address from?

I tried to contact the freebitco.in staff and they sent me a link that takes me to this page, how do I change my freebitco.in email here?
You can't change your email address here.
They have probably asked you to sign a message from your bitcoin address to prove your ownership of the account. This topic is only a guide on how to sign a message.

The first requirement for signing a message from a bitcoin address is that you must have full control over that. This means that the address has to belong to a non-custodial wallet.
If an address belongs to an exchange or any custodial service, there is no way to sign a message from that.

Do you have control over one of the addresses you deposited from? Where did you deposit from?
Or do you have control over the address you set at your profile? Where does that address come from?

I just want to remove 2FA from freebitco.in.  The staff asked me to come here.  I currently only have a public address.  There is no private key.  So I can't just sign with a public address.  how should do?
If you still have access to the email address and password used at freebitco.in, try using the Reset 2FA feature at the bottom right of the Login button. There are several methods to reset 2FA, including using a 2FA Secret Key, a backup Phone Number, or an Email Address.

The meaning of signing a message is proving ownership of the public address. If you don't have access to a private key, you can't prove ownership of the public key. That should be obvious, right?

Therefore, you cannot sign a message without your private key.
Can you, for example, send coins from that address? No? Then you are not the owner of that address. And please stop asking further questions as no one can help you.

If it is just a matter of signing a message using a random private key and address you can try brainwallet just to see how it works.
Never use such address and private key generated online to send funds to or stake here as you can never trust online generated private keys.

I have no iPhone, never used one so I cannot be helpful for choosing an app for the job. If you want to stake an address here.

do you have other wallet can use iPhone to sign? I mean other options except Electrum
For iOS mycelium wallet there no sign message option
I download Coinomi after that I make a sign it’s said : the provided address could not be found in this account
Looks like you have a habit of ignoring all of the obvious signs! In case none of us were clear enough, no matter which wallet you download, you "can't sign a message with the public address" alone and since you mentioned you don't have access to the private key of that address, then there's no way for you to import it to any wallet!

Did you make a signed message using the address you got from Coinomi or another address?
Try to follow how-to sign a message as shown in the following link:
