This is why it only make sense to look at it as long term investment.

Honest 80s business!
The article was a very fun read, indeed. It's always funny how people who have no insight into the matter tend to pick up on the latest news and publish uninformed articles without looking back at the historic price of Bitcoin. Yeah, I think we will continue to perform badly Tongue

Yikes, bitcoin has only increased 9,719,900% in value from the first market price(10k BTC for 25usd of pizza)... I was expecting so much more out of this investment Cry

LOL. Bitcoin is the best investment of our lifetimes and it hasn't even started. Whoever isn't big on BTC right now is mentally insane.

Worst/Best invesment in X year means from 1 January to 31 December, not from the top to the bottom in the same year.

Good God, really?

Oh I can't even be bothered to google for that Nicolas Cage jpg. Just imagine it in this space. Unless of course you actually CAN'T.

This is probably the worst analysis I've ever seen. The OP simply cherry picked the high and low for each year, ...

Jesus FUCK. Why can't people read? Why can't people detect irony? Why does no one have a working theory of mind any more? I know everyone on the internet loves to declare themselves autistic, but surely it can't be EVERYONE?

I *didn't* read the link and I *still* figured out where the OP was coming from, largely from the three innocuous words 'let us explain'. Not 'here is a stupid argument I am making in all sincerity', but 'here is a stupid argument I am using to demonstrate the stupidity of other similar arguments'.

ETA: aaaand now I've read the link, and yep it's sarcasm. They should NOT have put the last sentence in though. No need to spoonfeed the slow people.

Thank god it's the worst investment. Bitcoin was never intended to be an investment.
What is meant to be an investment? If it was never meant to be an investment there would be no halving or a long term limit supply.

It was intended as a currency. What makes you think so?
I think if it was intended to be a currency there would be no halving, halving has nothing to do but limit the amount of coins, less supply means each is worth more, especially when there is an overall limit. If it was mean to be strictly a currency it would aim for the most stable price possible and that would keep a strict singular distribution rate if not scale and increase the amount of coins based off transactions or hash power.

Do you think having a different distribution rate would actually have made Bitcoin stable?

Also, the whitepaper doesn't say anything about investments, but it does mention the concept of electronic cash.

Bitcoin is doomed, kaput, done for, finito. We look forward to updating this post when we are in cycle 5. And yes, bitcoin has been the best investment of 2010-2014.

Edit: They SHOULD make that clearer since most people will stop reading when they see how stupid it is.

This is probably the worst analysis I've ever seen. The OP simply cherry picked the high and low for each year, and then concluded that BTC lost a certain percentage based on the high and low for the year! Unfortunately for the OP, the price of BTC wasn't at the high on January 1st of each year and at the low on December 31st.

Using the same logic in reverse, one can also conclude that BTC was the best investment in those years because it gained an astronomical amount during that year based on the difference between the high and the low.

Move along, there is nothing to see here...

because it is light satire  Wink

Turns out most people don't open the links.
