The bitcoin can be stable at that year but it can also be sooner if that market stays growing and the price will also its possible but the point is that the bitcoin is pretty unpredictable so we have to wait for it.
I think it will be sooner than 2020, I think it will be stable at end of 2017.

If the market capitalisation of bitcoin is less than $210 billion, or the price is less than $10,000 each, it is easy to manipulate the price so the price will not be stable.

Really Bitcoin market will stabilize in 2020 ?
Is it because the reward is only 6.25 BTC/block?

By 2020/6.25 BTC blocks? I don't know, I doubt it, and why are 6.25 BTC blocks significant to stability/volatility?

My local fiat is GBP - historically, it's one of the most heavily traded currencies. GBP/USD is historically significant, as "cable", for being the first currency pair to be traded electronically (trans-Atlantic telegraph cables). Most foreign-exchange transactions go through London to this day. Despite that, GBP isn't immune to manipulation - George Soros famously shorted GBP, prompting the UK to exit the EU's exchange-rate mechanism. (Wall Street will not be Bitcoin's saviour).

It's not all bad news, though. BTC/USD's volatility is trending down, and is currently ~3x that of USD/EUR. I somehow suspect that however low BTC/USD volatility gets, people will still complain about volatility.

That is very hard to predict. I dont think that will happen that fast. I hope that it will rise until 2020. So we have a lot of profit.
There is also a chance that it can be less worth.

But we must hope for the good thing. And just wait what is going to happen.

bitcoin won't be stable for ages, maybe month or two like in the past, i mean bitcoin isin't young now and it's price changes every week, so if it will be stable, it won't last long

Not sure if it will ever be stable since there are so many factors that can decide price. This being a global currency just makes it more volatile.

The bitcoin will get stable, but if it will be in that year I do not know, the bitcoin itself is unpredictable so you never knows what happens with it in the time between it.
I even think it can get stable earlier but it depends on how this year and other years will go maybe the bitcoin will rise fast.

It will be similar to gold on the FX markets. Right now, the low marketcap allows BTC to be easily manipulated.

Even bitcoin is stable now. The fluctuating nature seems to be the nature of the bitcoin.
In 2020 also the nature won't change so surely it will be stable.

Depends on your definition of stable.. Price will probably keep increasing slowly over time.

If stability means a predictable and minimal increase or decrease, then it will probably happen.

If you mean no fluctuations, that will never happen.
Right, what is stability exactly for bitcoin?  We've had periods of relative stability lately, when the price was hovering around $400 or so.  And everyone here in the speculation section was crying because of boredom--everyone wanted to jump on the rocket to the moon!

And I agree with the person who said that as it stands now, a whale with a few million dollars can move the bitcoin market all by himself.  We really need to up the market cap if we're to avoid stuff like that happening.  We'll see.  Maybe something better will come along and make bitcoin obsolete.

The problem is that most people see Bitcoin as a speculative investment instead of a currency. There isn't enough adoption for use in consumption.

The bitcoin can be stable at that time but its the question what will happen between 2016 and 2020 because maybe the market is a lot different by than, you never know what will happen so its pretty unpredictable.
I think we just need to wait till its so far and than we will know it.

I do not think the bitcoin price will be stable in 2020. It is still in the up trend, so will high and lows.

Well, maybe it would be difficult to happen if 2020 but judging from the present, it may be very difficult to happen because bitcoin prices always fluctuate up and down making it difficult to steady the price

I think the bitcoin will be stable at a point and there is a chance this will be in this year, but the bitcoin is always unpredictable so you will never know till it really happens.
Also thinking that the bitcoin will be stable at a lower number something between 2017 and 2019.

stable bitcoin would be awesome, because more users would use it, so that means it's beter for bitcoin

stability is always the best thing, but with this much early adopters and very wealthy investors combined with a very small market cap makes it nearly impossible to have serious stability throughout the years. and also, if the prices are too stable, traders will most likely pull back their invested money as there isn't much profit to gain. that's why i prefer a stable growth instead of the price being fully stable. with a stable growth like 10-15% per year bitcoin will be a great store of value.

IMO bitcoin is already starting to have some stability. The price is not so volatilile has it was 4 years ago.
Even though there is still a lot of volatility, the coin is growing to be a more stable currency.
