Move On !!!!!!

I am glad that the XT drama is slowly settling down and that the XT probably won't see any success. This was just not a way to force the changes as Mike and Gavin wanted to force them.

I also listened to Nick Szabo in one of the let's talk bitcoins show where he stated that too many people want bigger blocks, more transactions and mainstream adoption and that they are sort of blinded with this without thinking enough about the safety of the network at the first place. I got from his statements that we need to think through the stuff that we want much more throughly than we are thinking I guess.

i have heard on good authority that the Core dev WILL be increasing the limit doing something like 2-4-8 soon. this is a "temporary fix" and have other ideas which will do far more for bitcoin scalability than simply increasing block size.

I really hope that you are right, because any temporary fix is better than sitting back and letting Bitcoin become the MySpace of cryptocurrency.

But the repercussions of the failed governance coup continue reverberating.

Oh yes, let's rush into the next battle of the civil war.  We might be able to push the price under $100 if we act fast!

This time many GigaBlockers, because they won't accept such an insultingly tiny/obviously placative increase, will be in alliance with the 1MBers.  The BIP248 coalition is powerful, but not powerful enough to defeat the strange HugeChange+NoChange bedfellows.

Cry  Bitcoin is a technological dead end thanks to Core devs.  Cry

Oh please.  Save the endless public-misleading exaggeration for BitcoinObituaries.com   Grin

Your already unseemly self-pity is becoming nauseating.  The sooner you Gavinistas are herded into /v/bitcoinxt to circlejerk yourselves the better.

If true, excellent.  Seeing any progress, movement, or even continued good faith negotiations is a good sign IMHO.

It'll probably just be a drawn out and increasingly polarised discussion on the forums until part two of the scaling conference, which I believe is in December.  I'm not expecting much, if anything, to happen before then.  2016 is most likely when the real fireworks start.
Correct. The second workshop (in Hong Kong) is supposed to take place in early December. However, I could almost say for certainty that we are not going to be seeing any solutions before 2016. The point of such workshops (as I've been told) is not to find a single solution or discuss it, but rather discuss the whole scaleability issue in general. We've already seen quite a few presentations that were very good. A lot more is going to come in December.
I'm still supporting the idea of dynamic block size with additional solutions (e.g. Lightning Network, side chains). I do think that the 'main game' for XT is already over, but who knows.

I think that the developers will not propose anything. Probably they will not feel confident to do so.

Bitcoin XT is not only the BIP ...  Roll Eyes

I take about upload shaping for example ... but it has others solutions in the air (SPV very compliant with purge roll to serve more SPV demand).

Yes it has been dead for quite a while.
Eventually the limit will be raised to 2mb due to emergency.

it seems the community thinks 1mb is plenty if they were willing to let this die so quickly
