What to say about our Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb? They played best 45 minutes I saw in a long time and handed out a real football lesson to Atalanta. Atalanta finished 3rd in Italy and kicked out Juve from their cup with 3:0 result and yesterday they couldn't do anything in front of Dinamo goal until last 15 minutes of the game. I am actually not a Dinamo supporter but I am always glad to see any Croatian club do well on European scene.

Yes, it was a really unbelievable performance. Dani Olmo is going places, that's for sure.
I also like Petković for quite some time, he's a really smart striker. This Dinamo team will stay in Europe after the group stage.

It is somewhat quiet here. I expected much more talk about yesterday games. Don't tell me you all root for Real Madrid  Tongue Really didn't expect such trashing against PSG who played without arguably their best 3 players. Granted, Real also missed many players but Real is a team which should never lose 3:0 no matter the squads and opposition.

Haha, quiet indeed - personally, I am just not happy with my performance, I really expected to be on top, hahaha... Cheesy

No, seriously - I only watched Olympiakos vs Tottenham and it was a very interesting match to watch. Before the match I wrote everywhere that I really think Oly will have a chance and everybody laughed... Then the game started, Oly was very dominant and all of a sudden, Spurs get a penalty and score with their very first shot in the 28th minute... as if that wasnt enough, they scored another one with their second shot a few minutes later... To my surprise, Olympiakos didnt give up, came back 1-2 just before HT, equalized early in the 2nd half and would have deserved victory. And I am saying all this even though I am an AEK supporter and we kinda hate Olympiakos... Cheesy

Regarding Dinamo --> I was very happy to see the result, always cheering for the outsiders!

So, Liverpool still has a problem to play outside of UK and against non-PL clubs. For me, a completely unexpected result of Napoli vs. Liverpool. Also, I expect more from Dortmund, but they should be happy with zero goals in his net and one point.

I assume that it was just a bad game against an Italian Defense which is always hard to break.
Napoli was so ready to face Liverpool and Napoli's defense treated so well Mane, which is such a treat to any defense.
I foresee many goals scored from Liverpool in the next Champions League fixtures, I don't think this match would be an obstacle for them.

I hate my club. 2-0 up and then we go down. Again. It seems we must meet a big club to get victories. Harry Kane still can score so that is a relief. Son will be our hero again I guess.

1 more thing,,, Maybe this OP thread first post should be changed to make it clear for people that it is something new every season (so they know they also can still join in the early stages?

Slava Ukraini!
Well, I started this pool in worst possible way. Almost all my predictions were wrong. Offcourse, there was lot of upsets in first round, but I also went with some risky predictions which didn't gave me anything. Also, lost lot of bets on these matches...

Nice picks on the draws hilarious. Trofo, looks like you were wise to refrain from PSG. I parlayed Real and Juventus but I doubt the Spaniards can put down 3 goals in the second half now. Another losing night for me it seems, (I did also put Lokomotiv Moskow but they're leading and I don't want to jinx myself... or have I already? haha).

Glad to be the only one to get the 0-0 score on the Bruge/Galatasaray game and the draw on the Spurs match. Pays to go for the goalless match sometimes. Nobody got the right score on Tottenham but two others went for the draw. Moved up quite a few places with those results.

PSG v Real Madrid or ATL v Juve are the games to watch tonight. Hard to choose between them but I'd probably go for PSG though I think both games will be close. Tempted to go for draws for both but I think PSG might have the edge over Real in this leg.

I thought that as well and then I read that PSG will play without  Neymar (susp), Cavani, Mbappe, Draxler and Bernat. Even PSG attack must suffer without all those players. On the other hand the situation at Real is not any better, they will miss Modrić, Isco, Marcelo, Marco Asensio, Diaz, Sergio Ramos and Nacho.

I think this one is better skipped when betting since it could go either way. I guess there should be goals but after yesterday I am not sure even about that.

Good lord. That's half of their teams out. Might have to reevaluate which game I'm watching now. ATL v Juve will be a better candidate now unless they have shit loads of players missing  Cheesy. With all those players out I think I'll still play it safe with a draw.  Thanks for the heads up.

Lucky Spurs but yeah, congrats on your picks - Oly deserved the win though. Cheesy

Real and PSG both have a lot of unavailable players. It will be a tough one to predict, I'm leaning towards Real but I will go for a draw with goals scored.

Me I'm satisfied with Liverpool/Barca parlay 5/1. For now. Definitely potential for upsets tonight, as bookies give home advantage a lot of gas in betting. Ajax were rather poor at home last season I recall, so Lille at almost 7/1 seems tempting.

I am thinking a lot of goals in Dortmund-Barca game and Germans not loosing this one. If I were sure Suerez and Messi will not play today I would put a nice amount of money on it but in this situation it will just be a part of parley for small stake.

Now with the start of Champions League we have a full compliment of football leagues available to us. Damn it was a long summer, i think I am addicted to high level club football.

I think lots of people were expecting goals in this game. I went with 2-2 but at least I got the point for the draw. Slavia were unlucky not to win, but at least they got a point to make that group of death more interesting. All teams on 1 point so far from that group.

Shame about the two late goals Liverpool conceded, though I don't think they should worry as they should win at Anfield.

^  And your club is?  Spurs?

hilarious...  I think it would be fun to post who supports which club for the CL at the first page or at least who they think could win the CL.  Grin

Barcelona:) And well done on leading the group so far! I don't know what I was thinking but anyway it seems a lot of people didn't;)

And we couldn't score last night and our defence left me just in nerves the whole game but anyway it was not a loss, so we did slightly better than other teams;)

Nothing much else happening in the team news to suggest things will change so I'm really not sure about how this season will turn out. But

All in all, some unexpected results really... 0-0 BVB vs Barca... millions have placed bets on many many goals and lost lots of money today.
First day so many was expected results like this but still we can say too many bets lost and today was good for Bookies as they have some very favorable results like Dortmund and Liverpool and Chelsea these both also heavily backed by overs.

Yes,,, for sure, people bet a lot of money on Over 2.5 goals for teams like Barca Liverpool etc., and also both teams to score, because it was quite hard to pick winners or the odds were not good. I think last night was very good for bookies. Few favorites won their games, but also whoever supported Napoli and Valencia will be very happy to win their games.

Looks like we will all be having a great start with Slavia winning in Milan, right? ^^
Slavia play very good specially in second half but Injury time goal give something to cheer I was also sure Slavia is going to have all 3 points but its surely disappointing for them.

I chose Olympiakos just because I am Greek and unlike most of my compatriots, I support other Greek teams internationally... even though we actually "hate" Olympiakos, haha... I am AEK by the way... Pathetic last season but wait for us to be back in our new awesome stadium! Cheesy

I have placed a bet for Olympiacos to win as well!! With crypto in a decentralised app called Kryptium! Anyone against me??
