Bitcoin is the new geek accessory
I am a long-term Bitcoin Bull for many reasons. One reason not considered by many is the collectability of Bitcoins. Many fiat currencieshave plummeted to monetary worthlessness, but all of them are collectable now, from The Continental, the the CSA dollar, to the Weimar Deutchmark to the Zimbabwe dollar. In each case, they became collectables.
Bitcoins are the world's first distributed cryptocurrency. Even if Namecoin or some other currency eventually surpasses it, nothing else will ever be the first. I don't think BTC will be surpassed, nor do I think it will plummet to monetary worthlessness, but even if it did, it would still have numismatic value. The fact that they are merely cryptographic tokens doesn't change anything.
