you don't need to be smart to be rich, and the smarter you are, the less interested you are in being rich.
being rich as an indicator of status is not something that appeals to the smarter of us ;-)

Sometimes you don't have to be smart, just lucky. Imagine if someone in 2009 mined some coins out of pure interest. Lets say they got 1000. Years later Bitcoin gets wide media coverage and you think oh I have some bitcoins, and you find those 1000 you have. Now bitcoin goes over 1000$, you sell them and there you are a millionaire, just because you were lucky. Same is winning the lottery.

I consider people who invest in new technologies and understand what bitcoin is, smart. Define "rich". In Somalia you're rich if you have a house and some goats 
I've never bee rich but I used to at least be ok financially.
Since I have gotten injured though I am broke, selling off my personal things to pay the bills and help my wife with them.
Every now and then it feels like a big deal when I get a few dollars to buy something for me.
With yet a 3rd surgery looming in the coming months I gave up thinking I will ever be financially secure again.
I am smart and not rich just like the title says as to the why life threw a log at me and took away my health.
Since I have gotten injured though I am broke, selling off my personal things to pay the bills and help my wife with them.
Every now and then it feels like a big deal when I get a few dollars to buy something for me.
