Hi guys, I have been searching for this function/feature on btt but couldn't find it, I don't know if it exists already or not, but I thought it would be nice if we can have it.

Reason?

I have seen several scenarios where another forum member action is been discussed in this section and been concluded upon by other forum members without the knowledge of this persons. So I was thinking if it will be possible for btt dev to assign something like a call code to everyone forum users account?

Where a bitcointalk user can have something like a call code, which can inserted into a text, to call the Attention of the bearer of the code.

I really don't understand the definition and purpose of the call code. Why do we need to another unique identifier when there is always a unique number assigned to your profile. For example, my identifier 161447.  Everyone can find this unique identifier in the summary of their profile.

If you are newbie, you will not receive many calls from other members.
If you are famous member, you can get many tags and if you use mention not, you will receive many annoying notifications.

Don't think so, been on several forums with mention system built in it, didn't see any complain, they are helpful if anything. If someone mentions you, there is usually reason behind it and it needed your attention.

With the new forum software being in development, I am certain theymos won't make any major changes on Bitcointalk unless it's related to the security of the board and its members, or directly influences the user experience when browsing the forum.

I can only recommend you try LoyceV's Notification BOT suggested to you by Insanerman. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and it works just fine.

AFAIK if new forum software - Epochtalk, would be used to create a new Bitcointalk forum, then I know that tagging would be easy as the Epochtalk uses AngularJS that has the capability to push notifications plus, with the speed of PostgresQL, it can really be possible. But I don't know yet if the Epochtalk software supports instant database update nor has the functionality to store changes and updates the users without requiring the user to refresh their platform. But yes, theymos doesn't really has the control of the SMF's software and there's no way that call codes and tags would be enhanced and implemented to push notifications in the current platform.

If you are newbie, you will not receive many calls from other members.
If you are famous member, you can get many tags and if you use mention not, you will receive many annoying notifications.

I don't know if it really is annoying to "famous" users but I only see less people tag others with @ syntax or even mentions them. Maybe a 15% chance?

What is call code?
If your call code is tag like @yourusername, it makes me think of two possible things.

If you are newbie, you will not receive many calls from other members.
If you are famous member, you can get many tags and if you use mention not, you will receive many annoying notifications.

If the call code is different than tag, and is simply as notifications when any members reply to your posts or any replies in topics you posted in. You can customize your account settings.

Tags don't really have to be annoying if they are grouped, assuming many members are tagging or quoting your posts. And all it takes is just a few clicks to dismiss them.

I have seen several scenarios where another forum member action is been discussed in this section and been concluded upon by other forum members without the knowledge of this persons.
In cases I have come across where a certain user is being discussed in relation to an issue, they are usually directly notified, by someone who sends them a PM and if they do not contribute in the thread, no action is usually take against the user as the case is inconclusive, except in cases where irrefutable evidence is presented.

On having a call code, the forum software supports only a few notifications which does not include when a user is mentioned, so you will have to rely on projects by other users to get such notifications. Maybe the new forum software would have such a feature.

You can use LoyceV's Notification BOT[1] if you are pertaining to being notified with call-like tags like @<> or use TryNinja's Telegram Notifier[2] to get notified everytime someone's mentioned your username (with tons of features as well). But if you are pertaining to direct tagging of users that lets others be notified of the tags (like in social media platforms), then the SMF itself would not allow it, as the notification is sent only via email (if you click notify button only) and not directly available on the forum's platform.

If I get it correctly, then you are looking for a mention bot. You are right, the forum itself doesn't have this function. I am not a tech guy, so I can't read the forum code. But as far as I know, a few users create mention bot since forum do not have that. Perhaps you may take a look on this thread, Is there any forum-based mention bot around?

Anyway, I don't think the admin will implement something like this since there are many important things to implement. So, you have to use an external bot if you like to get notifications.
